Mirror Your TV With Smart View

Important: Make sure your TV is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone. Some TVs may require you to switch inputs or turn on screen mirroring. SmartView is not an app you download on your phone and is located in the quick settings panel.

Open the Quick settings panel by swiping down from the top of the screen using two fingers. Then swipe to and tap the Smart View icon.

Note: If the Smart View icon does not appear, try swiping left. If it still doesn’t appear, your device may not be compatible, or it may need to be added to the panel.

Tap your TV from the list of Available devices. Enter a PIN or allow access to complete the connection if prompted.

Your device’s screen will now appear on the TV. If you want to stream the TV’s screen to your phone or tablet, and the TV supports it, tap Other device Phone. To switch back, tap Phone Other device.

Connecting The Devices Using The Hdmi Port

The simplest way to connect an Android and a TV is through cables. All of the newest TV models will have HDMI ports to connect to, and even the older models should have at least a USB port. You can use a USB to HDMI or a USB to USB cable to connect both devices together.

Remember that if you want to go this route, youll need to enable USB debugging on your Android device. If USB debugging is turned off, your device may just end up charging itself when connected to the TV.

To enable USB debugging, follow these steps:

Open your phone Settings, then search for About Phone.

Scroll down the menu to find the Build Number, then tap on it seven times.

A prompt will appear that tapping further will enable Developer Options. This is a standard warning. Continue tapping in the Build Number.

Once Developer Options is enabled, it will show as a separate menu under System Settings.

Open Settings, System Settings, then Developer options.

Scroll down until you find USB debugging.

Tap on the switch to enable USB debugging.

Once USB debugging is enabled, you can now connect the Android device via cables to the TV. Screen mirroring should occur automatically once the two are connected. Depending on the length of your cable, this could be an ideal solution if you dont have the Bluetooth feature for your TV.

If you wish to stop mirroring your screen, all you have to do is unplug the cable from any of your devices.

Screen Mirroring A Pc To A TV: Other Cable Connections

If your computer does not have any of these ports, you still have options. Many TVs offer a regular 15-pin VGA socket, so if your laptop or desktop has an analog VGA connector, you can use this to hook it up. VGA does not carry audio, however, meaning you will want to attach a second cable from your PCs audio output socket to your TVs audio input.

It may also be possible to use a DVI connection. If your PC has a DVI-I socket, you can use a simple DVI-to-VGA adapter to connect it to a 15-pin socket on the TV and connect the sound via a separate cable as described above.

If it is a DVI-D socket, however, that means it is digital-only, and your only option is to use a DVI-to-HDMI adapter cable to plug it into an HDMI socket. This may sound more convenient than using VGA, but DVI does not carry audio, and your TV probably wont offer the option to play audio from an external source while displaying HDMI video. So if you want sound, you will have to use a separate amplifier .

You can tell what sort of DVI socket your computer has by looking at the long, flat aperture at the left-hand side of the port: if it is surrounded by four pinholes in a square configuration, it is DVI-I. If the flat hole is stuck out on its own, with no other holes around it, it is DVI-D.
