How to pair Oticon Bluetooth® hearing aids to TV Adapter 3.0

Oticons Opn are Made for iPhone hearing aids, which means they work seamlessly with Apples devices. It takes about 30 seconds to connect and pair the hearing aids with an Apple device, from then on you can control them through the Apple Settings screen, you can change volume, programmes or switch them on/off through the same settings menus as if you were changing your WiFi settings, wallpaper or other standard Apple stuff.

Oticon has worked with Apple to integrate the Opn such that they feel just like a part of the phone, rather than something external youve connected.

Types Of Hearing Aids

  • Invisible Hearing Aids: also known as Completely-in-Canal , these hearing aids are placed deep inside the ear canal, hidden from sight. Despite their small size, invisible hearing aids contain the latest technology and provide hearing quality similar to larger models.
  • Behind the Ear Hearing Aids : consist of a plastic casing that contain the electronics. Amplified sound travels through a clear plastic tube into an earpiece, forming the connection to the custom made earmold in the users ear. Oticon Opn 1 are behind the ear hearing aids.
  • In the Ear Hearing Aids : these hearing aids are placed inside the ear and consist of only one part into which the electronics are built. The shell is custom made from an impression your audiologist makes of your ear canal.
  • Open Fit : open fit hearing aids use a combination of elements specially designed to deliver sound from your hearing aid into your ear. All of the elements come in various sizes, making this particular model instantly custom fit.

How To Pair Oticon TV Adapter 30 With Hearing Aids

Pairing the adapter with hearing aids is easy. Once listening devices are in pairing mode, and within 15 cm of the device, the adapter will automatically connect to them. Its as simple as that.

After the adapter has been paired with your listening devices, it will be available as a program in your hearing aids. This means you can start enjoying your favorite programs or music in the comfort of their home. The program cycle will depend on the programs already available in your hearing aids.

Another great advantage of the Oticon TV Adapter 3.0 is that its intended to be used by children and adults together with their hearing solution.

Pair Oticon Opn hearing aids with TV Adapter

Don and I met during college Orientation in late July 1972. He was 18 and I was 17. Don was blind and I was heading in that direction. I have retinitis pigmentosa and had already lost my night vision. Don and I saw advantages to becoming roommates. He would teach me essential future blindness skills and, per his request, I would hide his bottle of Southern Comfort.

I started my university career with a serious problem. After the sun set, I could not find my way from my dorm in the northeast part of campus, to the dorm located on the southwest corner. This was terrible! The Freshman Girls Dorm was calling to me, and I was stuck. When it was dark, I wasnt going anywhere.

In desperation, I bought a cheap wooden walking cane, which was way too short and only meant for appearing dapper. I tried to traverse the campus at night and only succeeded in walking with the slow and erratic gait of an inebriated toddler, slipping regularly off the sidewalk and looking very uncool.

Don was either embarrassed or took pity on me. He gave me my first white cane and tossed in some free mobility lessons. Before long, I was tap, tap, tapping my way to the girls dorm. My cane technique wasnt pretty, and it wasnt elegant, but it worked. My delicate male ego was saved.

On the off chance that the distorted audio quality of the world might have something to do with me, I visited an ear doctor, who then suggested that I go see an audiologist. At least that is what I think he said.

Lets Look At The Differences Between Compilot Ii And Compilot Air Ii:

  • ComPilot II needs to be worn around the neck, with the neckloop, in order to connect to the hearing aids. The ComPilot Air II will only need to be worn near the hearing aids and has a clip on the backside. The ComPilot Air II may be worn near the waist, but if connectivity is not stable, then you should try moving it closer to the hearing aids, possibly wearing it around the neck.
  • ComPilot Air II does not have an Aux input port like the ComPilot II, so its only able to stream audio from Bluetooth capable devices.
  • Unfortunately, the ComPilot Air II does not have a Europlug, which would allow for direct audio input to connect to an FM/DM system.

To Connect the ComPilot Air II to your computer:

  • Open your Bluetooth settings on your computer. You can usually search for Bluetooth settings in your search engine or click on the Bluetooth icon and select Bluetooth settings or Bluetooth preferences.
  • Make sure the Bluetooth is on and put the computer into search mode, or select an Add device option.
  • Make sure ComPilot Air II is powered off.
  • Put ComPilot Air II into pairing mode by holding the button first then powering on ComPilot Air II while holding the button until the indicator light is rapidly blinking blue.
  • Once the ComPilot Air II is in pairing mode and rapidly blinking blue, the ComPilot Air II will appear in the devices options of the Bluetooth settings on your computer.
  • Once paired to the computer, the ComPilot II LED will be slowly blinking blue.

What If My Hearing Aids Cant Connect

A streamer links your mobile phone to your hearing aids.

If your hearing aid doesnt include a feature for direct streaming from your smartphone to your hearing aids, dont worry. Manufacturers of wireless hearing aids long ago created a clever solution for accessing this prevalent wireless standard. Wireless hearing aids can use compatible assistive listening devices, often called streamers, to provide a communication link between the wireless technology in the hearing aids and any Bluetooth-enabled device.

The wireless hearing aids can be paired with the streamer, and then the streamer can be paired with external devices. When its all set up, the streamer will pick up the Bluetooth signal from your phone, for example, and send it to your hearing aid via an FM signal or electromagnetic field, depending on the manufacturers design. Usually, the streamer is worn around the neck or placed in a pocket for hands-free operation. Speak to your hearing care provider about the best streamer option for you.

If You Have An Android Phone

Many smartphone-compatible hearing aids work with Android phones. However, not all hearing aid models will work with all Android phones. Check your hearing aid user guide or your manufacturers website for a list of Android phones that will work with your hearing aids. Manufacturers websites:

With most hearing aid models, you will need to purchase a separate phone clip accessory in order to stream phone calls, music, and other audio to your hearing aids. However, even without a Bluetooth accessory, you can still use many of the other smartphone features are available through the app, such as changing volume and switching programs.

Unfortunately the unit was for European plugs. I called the USA dealer and was told I could get an adapter but could not guarrantee it would work in the US. SO I requested a return and was accepted. They were very pleasant about returning it but I had to pay the postage to return it. Postage was $30.00 which I had to eat. If they had sent me the correct plug there wouldnt have been an issue in the first place. The dealer in the US couldnt answer my questions so I went with the return. Am waiting for my payment deposit and notice. So far nothing.

The MFI from Apple is only for iOS, not MacOS. The Mac is not iOS based so thats why direct streaming is not supported by it.

I am not Mac user. However, even iTunes on Windows can play music on iPhone. Surely in that way you can use your iPhone as intermediate device.

There is an app called airfoil will let you stream any sound from Mac to iPhone.I dont know how airfoil compared with connect clip.

Thanks for all the feedbackmuch appreciated.
