The Apple TV app can be found on most LG Smart TVs from 2018 and later. For a list of specific LG Smart TV models that support the Apple TV app, go to apple.com/apple-tv-app/devices/.
In the app launcher bar of your LG Smart TVs home screen, select the Apple TV app icon to open it.

How To Set Up Over

5. Complete channel scan. Once the TV completes the scan, it will give you the option to retry tuning. However, you can accept or decline Sonys Bravia privacy policy as well as one for Samba TV, the ACR technology Sony uses. During the initial setup youll go through a few screens before getting to the one for the Sony Bravia policy. You have to scroll through the entire Bravia policy before youll see the options for turning off various data-gathering features, including Sony Smart TV Services, and Program Recommendations. Theres also a box for agreeing to all.
Then proceed through the next couple of screens until you get to the Samba TV user agreement. You can also disable Samba TV at any time on your TV screen by going to Settings, and then Device Preferences, where youll see Samba Interactive TV in the submenu. That will stop Samba TV from collecting your TVs content viewing history.
Last year we noticed that Samba TV wasnt on all the Sony TVs at the time we tested them. A Sony spokesperson told us that some models might not launch with Samba TV, but it could be added later. If so, you should receive a prompt giving you the option to opt out of the Samba TV service.

Setting up your new TV is fun and exciting! Use the information in this article to assist with setting up your channels, using the Universal Remote Control , and using advanced Live TV features depending on your model. Start by choosing your TV type below.
First, connect the coaxial cable from your antenna or cable wall-jack to the back of your TV, as shown below.
Press the Home/Smart button on your remote, then navigate to Settings> Quick> Channels> Channel Tuning.
Select Auto Tuning.
The TV will begin scanning for Digital/Analog Antenna channels and Digital/Analog Cable channels.
To skip a certain signal type, click the Skip button when that section begins.
Note: To use the Advanced Live TV Features, you cannot skip any sections.
When the scan is complete, click the Done button.
You may also wish to Add/Remove channels manually. From Settings> Quick> Channels> Channel Tuning, choose Manual Tuning.
Note: This will Add/Remove channels from the entire TV.
Select the signal type you wish to modify.
Click the Channel button in the bottom-left to open a full channel list, then select the channel you wish to modify.

Shut Off Acr On Roku TVs
Close to a dozen TV brands now use the Roku TV platform, including Element, Hisense, Hitachi, Insignia, JVC, Philips, RCA, Sanyo, TCL, and Westinghouse.
To turn off ACR, press the Home button on the remote, then look for Settings. Scroll down until you see Privacy, click on that, then look for Smart TV experience, as shown in the photo above. Youll see listings for Advertising, Microphone, and Smart TV Experience.
If you disable Use Info, it automatically shuts off Enable Auto Notifications, which uses ACR technology to power Rokus More Ways to Watch feature, which lets you watch a live show already in progress from the beginning, or see what other episodes are available.
ACR does not apply to streaming channels on Roku, a spokeswoman told us. Opting out of ACR does not affect collection of information about the use of Roku streaming channels.

Thats what Consumer Reports has found repeatedly since it first started reporting on data collection by smart TVs in 2015. These are sets that connect to the internet, making it easy to stream videos from services such as Hulu and Netflix. In 2018 we conducted our first extensive analysis of smart TV technology, and since then, weve evaluated all the TVs in our ratings for their privacy and security practices.
Weve seen that smart TVs can collect and share significant amounts of personal data about their viewers. And so can the dozensor even hundredsof third-party apps that work with the platforms.
Other researchers have found much the same thing. In one study, researchers at Northeastern University and Imperial College London looked at smart TVs and other internet-connected devices and found that many of them sent data to Amazon, Facebook, and DoubleClick, Googles advertising business. Almost all the TVs sent data to Netflix even if the app wasnt installed or the owner hadnt activated it.
