What TV Show Should I Watch

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

FRINGE (2008-13) – Should I Watch?

Crime procedurals are a dime a dozen in fact, there are plenty of networks on TV that are home to at least one or more. With such saturation, its hard to make heads or tails of any of it. Yet, there are still stand-outs. For instance, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit , which follows a group of New York detectives responsible for dealing with the most heinous sexual crimes is one of the longest-running and best-written crime procedurals ever to have been penned. Keep in mind, however, that this shows heyday occurred during the time that Christopher Meloni, as Detective Elliot Stabler, was on the show. It also stars Mariska Hargitay and Ice T.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Creator: Joss Whedon

Cast: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan

Joss Whedon reinvented the rules of genre television with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the timeless teenage drama that chronicled coming of age through the conquest of literal monsters, big and, on at least one occasion, very very small. Twenty years later, Buffy is still an absolute delight to watch, charting the long-haul coming of age of a group of beloved characters from the angst of high school to the disappointments of early adulthood. At the same time, it’s a thrilling monster series, delivering one hellish creature after the next with fantastic practical effects and pure passion for genre storytelling. Buffy is my OG binge, long before the term became a thing. I think I used to call it “marathoning Buffy,” watching the seasons back to back on my well-worn DVDs. Even so, it never grows old. — Haleigh Foutch

Similarities Humanity Fighting Demons & Story

3 TV Shows You Should Be Watching. Part XII.

At first glance, Sirius The Jaegar doesnt have much in common with Blood Of Zeus. However, the bubbling conflict growing between vampires and humans bears some similarities to the main plot line of Netflixs alt-Greek anime.

At the heart of this conflict is wildcard Yuliy, a young man who happens to possess mysterious powers akin to that of a werewolf. It soon becomes apparent that he holds the key to an artifact the vampires are tirelessly hunting, The Ark Of Sirius.

What follows is a race against time as Yuliy sets out to stop the vamps, resolve a personal vendetta with his brother and save the world.

Its all pretty standard anime fare but its a well written series and certainly worth checking out.

Shows To Watch If You Like Grey’s Anatomy

Like Meredith Grey has trouble picking an adequate beau, you may be having trouble choosing a suitable follow-up to Grey’s Anatomy. We’ve put together a list of medical dramas where the heart surgeries are as important as the affairs of the heart, and other shows that marry the professional with the personal.

Black Lives Matter: Movies And TV Show That Put Racism In The Spotlight

You want to pepper your watertight plot, brought to life via dazzling performances and stellar writing with allusions to Greek mythology and classic literature? Who am I to say no? Go for your life.

Perhaps the best part of Dark is that, unlike other so-called “prestige shows,” there’s no dip in quality. No “wilderness” seasons like Lost. Or skippable episodes like Stranger Things. Dark doesn’t rush towards its conclusion like Game of Thrones, or betray years of character building to service plot. No, it calmly and precisely remains extremely good from start to finish. I can’t think of another show like it. At least not on Netflix.

So why the hell is no one talking about it? Why isn’t a show of Dark’s sustained quality trending on Twitter? Why aren’t people getting angry about spoilers or getting into friendship ending debates on Facebook? Dark literally just dropped its stellar concluding season on Netflix and it just feels like no one — not even Netflix itself — has even noticed?

Is it because it’s “complicated”? Maybe. Dark can be hard to follow and 100% expects its audience to remember intricate details of a sprawling family tree that plays out across multiple different timelines.

Dark is spread across multiple different times .

Is Dark underpromoted compared to other shows on Netflix? Possibly. I did start watching Dark after the first season of Stranger Things. The show does seem to operate in the shadow of more popular shows in the recommendations.

House of the Dragon

Targaryens and sea snakes and dragons, oh my! In a prequel set 200 years before Game of Thrones, families more squabblesome than Successions Roy clan fight to sit on the Iron Throne. The sex and violence may be toned down a bit, but the epic aspects that made us fall in love with the original show are all there, and some think the dragons look even cooler this time. Amazons wildly pricey Lord of the Rings prequel debuting Sept. 2 had better be good, or its about to get flash-roasted by dragon breath.

The Haunting Of Hill House

Creator: Mike Flanagan

Cast: Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas

Hush and Gerald’s Game filmmaker Mike Flanagan delivers his most ambitious Netflix project yet with The Haunting of Hill House. Inspired by Shirley Jackson’s seminal ghost story, the series carries over almost none of Jackson’s narrative , and focuses instead on the haunted lives of the withering Crain family. Bouncing back and forth between the summer the Crain’s spent in the titular haunted mansion and the years of grief and family trauma they endured in the aftermath. Flanagan has proven in previous works that he’s got a knack for upsetting visuals and well-composed scares, but his great success in The Haunting of Hill House is the way he ties the scares into a rich, intertwining tale of family tinged with tragedy. Led by a spectacular ensemble, the series veers between emotional revelation and moments of horror that give you full-body chills. It’s the most moving and honest portrayal of mortality and grief this side of Six Feet Under, but it’ll give you a whole lot more nightmares. Haleigh Foutch

Similarities Characters & Mystery Box

Back in 2004, a tiny show called Lost went way over-budget with its pilot episode. The consequences of that saw several people fired.

Little did they know this mishap would help grow Lost into a worldwide phenomenon that completely changed the way people watched TV.

This highly engrossing, mystery series revolves around a group of plane-crash survivors washing up on shore and fighting for survival on a very weird island holding many, many secrets.

Across 6 seasons the show does lose its way a little but it serves up an engrossing and unmissable journey nonetheless. If you havent seen it already, Lost is a must-watch show.

Which Marvel Movies And Shows Should You Watch Before She

The first movie you should watch before She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is The Incredible Hulk . This early MCU installment starred Edward Norton as Bruce Banner before the role was recast with Mark Ruffalo, starting with The Avengers . Ruffalo has portrayed the character in many MCU projects since, and he will have a starring role in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Also returning in the new series is Tim Roth, who appeared in The Incredible Hulk as the antagonist, Emil Blonsky/Abomination. As the Hulk and Abomination are set to share the screen again in this film, they will be referencing the events of the 2008 movie. With She-Hulks self-aware nature, its likely that the show will even poke fun at the recasting. Abomination also appears in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, a film you should watch as it gets referenced in this series.

You should also have a general understanding of the MCU events leading up to this film. This show features Ruffalo as Smart Hulk, a merged version of the brains of Bruce Banner and the brawn of the Hulk. Those unfamiliar with Hulks progression may want to watch Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame to see how the Hulk ended up here.

She-Hulk is set to be a series made for MCU fans, both dedicated and casual, to enjoy. The first episode premieres on Disney+ on Thursday, August 18.

I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson

The former Saturday Night Live and Detroiters writer and performer Tim Robinson created this fast-paced and funny sketch series, which is steeped in the comedy of obnoxiousness. Nearly every segment is about how people react when someone in their immediate vicinity behaves rudely or strangely. The show is both a sharp depiction of how social mores sometimes fail us and through two seasons now a reliable generator of viral memes. Our critic wrote that Robinson channels a recognizable brand of Midwestern ticked-off-ness: a freak-out that bursts through his mild exterior like a volcano erupting out of a lake of mayonnaise.

Similarities Crime & Gangs

What TV shows should I watch while travelling?

Gomorrah is an Italian crime drama revolving around the Mafia in Naples. Running for four seasons, Gomorrah has a lot of action set pieces, which are backed up by some amazing storytelling and tense segments along the way.

The story revolves around a man named Ciro who disregards tradition in his attempt to become the next boss of his crime syndicate. Of course, these internal problems cause a rift to open in the family, putting all of them at risk.

This series doesnt look like running out of steam anytime soon, especially with a new season already green-lit, and is certainly worth indulging in.

Shows To Watch If You Like Hannibal

Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal, which tells the story of the complex relationship between cannibalistic psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter and FBI profiler Will Graham , is a striking piece of art. These shows also feature charismatic serial killers and the people who are likewise obsessed with understanding them. Seriously, there are more than you’d expect.

Similarities Giant Monsters & Action

Attack On Titan is an anime that features a nightmarish, post-apocalyptic vision of the future. Humanity are held up in little pockets of refuge across the globe, clinging to the last shreds of existence before being wiped out completely. Outside these small walls stand numerous behemoths known as titans, which threaten to destroy the humans at any moment.

At the center of this conflict lies young Eren Jaegar who has hopeful aspirations of joining the military and helping with this ongoing fight. What begins as a simple tale soon evolves into an incredibly engaging, tightly-written series that changes the game midway through the first season and continues to do so throughout its run-time.

Well written, nicely animated and with lots of content to chew through, this anime is certainly well worth a watch.
