Airplay Code Not Showing On Roku TV

When using AirPlay on an Apple device with your Roku TV, you will open whatever content you are wanting to mirror, select the AirPlay option from your Apple device, and a code should appear on the screen of your Roku TV which will be inputted into your device to complete the connection. This should only take a few seconds, but without the code, AirPlay wont ensue. If no code is showing up on your Roku TV when trying to use AirPlay, what should you do?

If the AirPlay code is not showing on your Roku TV, you need to check that your TV is running on the latest Roku software. To check for any software updates, go to Settings> System> System Update> and check for any updates.

If you have a Roku TV that is a model Axxxx, Cxxxx, CxxGB, or 7xxx, it will require an update of Roku 9.4 or higher to be able to support AirPlay. If you have a TV model that is Dxxxx or 8xxxx, it will have to run on Roku 10.0 or higher to support the feature. If you see that your specific model is updated and the code is still not appearing on your screen, be sure that you have the correct device selected when you are prompted to connect on your Apple device.

    Roku Airplay Volume Not Working

Similar to problems with the music not working when trying to play a particular set using AirPlay with a Roku device is the issue of volume not working altogether. Although video and picture are important aspects when it comes to the function of AirPlay and Roku devices, the volume is just as essential if you are doing anything other than scrolling through pictures. If the volume is not working on your Roku TV when using AirPlay, read on to see what can be done.

If the volume on your Roku is not working when using AirPlay, check to see that all devices have not been accidentally muted. If this can be confirmed and you are using a soundbar with your Roku device, check that all wires are securely inserted and in good condition with no damage.

If you know that all devices have the volume turned on and that any Roku device with a soundbar has no stability issues with its wires, try turning off both devices. Start by turning off your TV first and allowing it to completely shut down before turning it back on again. You will also need to turn off your Apple device, wait for it to drain of power, then turn it back on as well before trying once again to use AirPlay and check for functioning volume.

    Does Roku Device Support Airplay

The AirPlay support is still very limited on Roku devices. There are only a handful of 4K Roku devices that support AirPlay connections and allow screen mirroring from an iPhone or iPad. Even within a specific type of Roku device, you will have to check the model number to ensure its compatibility with the AirPlay service. Generally, you will be able to connect your iPhone to the Roku Ultra, Roku Streaming Stick+, Roku Premiere, Roku TV, and Roku Smart Soundbar.

To check the compatibility of these devices with AirPlay, you will have to check their model numbers. You can do that by heading over to the settings and accessing the Systems section. Here, go to the About section and check the model number.

Here are Roku device models that support the AirPlay service:

Your Roku Is Not Compatible With Airplay

If your Roku is a few years old, it simply might not have support for AirPlay, even with the latest Roku OS updates.AirPlay is available on most Roku devices that support 4K.

The Roku TV series 8, 6, 5, 4, and 3 all support AirPlay, but you may need to update the software. Roku TVs and Roku devices need to be running Roku OS 9.4 or higher, and your IOS version needs to be at least 12.3.

If you dont see the option for AirPlay in your Roku TV settings, it might be because your Roku does not support AirPlay.

I would look up your TVs model number on the Roku website to see if AirPlay is a supported feature.

Restart Your Roku TV Or Streaming Device

AirPlay 2 and HomeKit Rolling Out to Select Roku Streaming Players and ...

I know it sounds obvious, but unplugging your TV and your Roku streaming device is the quickest way to get AirPlay working again.

The key here is to actually wait a FULL 60 seconds. Have a little bit of patience and make sure its been at least a minute before plugging your TV, and the Roku back in.

While the TV is unplugged, find and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Make sure you are holding the power button on your TV, and not your remote!

This will help to drain any residual power left in the TV and allows the TV to soft reset itself. This is different than simply switching the remote on and off!

Once you plug the TV and Roku device back in after the 60 seconds, power the TV back on and Apple AirPlay should be working again.

Alternatively, you can restart your Roku TV and Roku Streaming Stick by using the Settings menu.

To restart Roku, press the Home button, scroll down to Settings, select System, and then select System Restart.

Once you restarted your Roku TV or streaming stick, test the AirPlay options.

Most of the time, restarting the Roku device will fix any software bugs that could be preventing AirPlay from not working correctly.

While youre at it, I recommend restarting your Apple device too!
