What Devices Support Hulu
While the latest versions of Hulu and Hulu with Live TV are available on most devices, there are a handful of products that still feature the “classic” Hulu app, which means you won’t have access to live TV, select Premium Add-ons, or new features.
These devices include the 3rd Generation Apple TV and select models of LG TVs and Blu-ray players, Samsung TVs and Blu-ray players, Sony TVs and Blu-ray players, VIZIO TVs, and TiVo, Roku, and Roku Stick. With that in mind, here’s the full list of devices currently compatible with Hulu in some capacity.
It should be noted that while PlayStation 3 and Xfinity X1 TV Boxes support the Hulu app and include access to the Hulu streaming library, live programming is not currently available. Unlike the Xfinity devices, however, PlayStation 3 includes access to various add-ons.
Users can also access the Classic Hulu app â which doesn’t support live TV and select Premium Add-ons and new features â on many devices. These include Apple TV , LG TVs and Blu-ray players , Roku and Roku Stick , Samsung TVs and Blu-ray players , Sony TVs and Blu-ray players , TiVo, and VIZIO TVs .

How Does Hulu With Limited Commercials Work
Hulus most basic plan is also its most popular. Hulu with Limited Commercials gives you access to a massive library of movies, TV shows, originals, and documentaries. With thousands of movies and TV series, youll never run out of things to watch. Weve tried.
All this content comes with one major downside: ads. For the most part, ads are only going to pop up when youre watching TV content, so if youre a movie buff, its going to hurt you less. Big hit shows tend to have the most ads, so prepare yourself for a couple of commercial breaks if youre watching something popular.
Hulus also introduced an annual version of this plan. If you can pay $59.99 a year all at once, youll save about $12 a year on this Hulu plan option.
What Is The Difference Between Hulu And Hulu
Hulu basic costs $5.99 per month, and Hulu costs $11.99 per month. With the No Ads, users will get access to all of Hulus on-demand library with no commercials. The Hulu basic package comes with ads that cannot be skipped, and an hour long show typically has 10 minutes of commercial time.
Hulus on-demand plans dont give you access to live programming. With that said, the default streaming library comes with a huge selection of popular movies and shows, as well as classics and originals. With Hulu youll get all of Hulus content with no commercials, unlike the Hulu basic plan.
With both of these plans youll have access to Hulus entire library. Some of the most popular titles from the streaming library include American Dad, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Futurama, Looking for Alaska, One Tree Hill, Seinfeld, The Mindy Project, and Untouchable.
Hulu also offers a Latino plan, check out the full review of Hulu Latino here.

Are There Commercials On Hulu Or Is It Ad
The most basic Hulu plan comes with ads, but you have the option to upgrade to an ad-free version. The Hulu plan costs just $6/mo. more than the basic plan, so its a worthy investment if you dont want ads to disrupt your streaming experience. You can also get Hulu basic plan with ESPN+ and Disney Plus in a bundle deal.
Even for those who get Hulus live TV plans, there are two options Hulu + Live TV and Hulu + Live TV. Like the basic plan, the first one comes with limited ads. And the second option lets you watch content from the Hulu streaming library without commercial interruptions.
Note that the ad-free experience doesnt apply to some on-demand content, live TV programming, or DVR recordings. So, for instance, if you watch the Giants game live, youll still have to sit through commercial breaks. And if you record the live game, the commercial breaks will be recorded as well.
Similarly, lets say you want to watch the latest episode of Atlanta after it airs on FX, you still get commercials just like everyone else who watched the show on cable. But if you want to binge on old episodes of Futurama, you can enjoy an ad-free experience since youre watching something from the Hulu streaming library.
Keep in mind that even within the Hulu streaming library, the Hulu plan includes a few shows featuring commercials. This applies to content for which Hulu has a distribution agreement specifically requiring ads.
What Is Hulu + Live TV
Hulu + Live TV is exactly what it sounds. Its Hulu, along with the streaming Live TV service that we all want.
The service was announced in May 2016. Launching in Beta on May 3, 2017, originally called Hulu with Live TV then changed to Hulu + Live TV. At launch, it came with 50 channels for users to stream, and included five OTA channels ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and The CW for most markets.
Initially it was priced at $39.99, making it very competitive with YouTube TV at the time, which was $35. In December 2019, Hulu upped the price to $54.99 per month. This was after it continued to add more channels. And it now has 72 channels.
Hulu + Live TV has just under three million subscribers, according to the latest estimates. Which puts it at the second biggest streaming Live TV service in the country.

Average Cost Of Hulu Subscription
Launched in 2007, Hulu was originally made as a means for TV networks to broadcast their shows on computers. Ten years later, Hulu has now expanded to several devices and has even started making their own original shows.
Back in its early days, Hulu had a free membership with a limited selection of shows and a fully paid subscription called Hulu Plus. Now, Hulu offers three subscription plans: Limited Commercials, No Commercials, and the newly released Hulu Live TV.
What’s Up With That Name
Peacock is a nod to NBC’s longtime logo and mascot. Strauss said that calling the service Peacock was meant as an homage to NBC, but he stressed that the service is licensing lots of non-NBC content too.
“We did not call this service NBC Plus. We called it Peacock. In many ways, that was by design,” he said. “Pay homage to NBCUniversal but not be limited to just NBCUniversal content.”
At the service’s unveiling in January, writer, producer and actress Tina Fey said she originally wanted the title of 30 Rock to be The Peacock. “I was told it was a hard ‘no,’ and that it would not pass the censors,” she said. “And here we are.”

Hulu With Live TV On Roku: 7 Things To Know Before You Sign Up
2021 UPDATE: Hulu Live is no longer my favorite live TV streaming service. Compare the best live TV streaming services in this updated article here.
Hulu with Live TV is my favorite live TV streaming service, but there are some things that Roku users need to know before they sign up for a free trial.
In this post, Ill explain how to get started with Hulus live TV streaming service and cut the cord.
What Shows Are On Hulu
When it comes to their original series, Hulu has definitely made its mark. The Handmaid’s Tale made history as the first streaming service to win a major award at the Primetime Emmys, nabbing Outstanding Drama Series in 2017. The streaming service continues to produce impressive and popular original shows such as The Act, a series chronicling the real-life story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard , which follows six teenage runaways in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who unite against their parents and Castle Rock, a psychological thriller inspired by the stories of Stephen King.
Always adding to their repertoire, the streaming service is debuting the second season of the Elizabeth Banks-produced comedy Shrill, starring Aidy Bryant, and the first season of High Fidelity, starring Zoë Kravitz, early this year.
In addition to their originals, Hulu hosts most current seasons of NBC shows like This Is Us, The Good Place, and The Voice, as well as ABC programs, FX series, and so much more. Episodes are typically available to stream the day after their original air date or up to seven days afterward, depending on the network.

Everything You Need To Know About Hulu
With the continual addition of streaming services, it can be hard to choose which ones are right for you theres the newer options like Disney+, AppleTV+, and the upcoming Peacock and HBO Max, plus the OGs like Netflix, Hulu, and even Amazon Prime Video. But Hulu launched its subscription service back in 2010 and has been rolling out new features and content ever since.
The streaming service is home to original movies and shows like the Emmy-winning series The Handmaids Taleand the Oscar-nominated documentary Minding the Gap, and is constantly updating their repertoire. In 2019 alone, the streaming service debuted 12 new shows many of which were nominated for Emmys or Golden Globes including The Act, PEN15, and Catch-22,and premiered 10 new seasons for existing original shows including Castle Rock, , and Light as a Feather.
Hulu also offers live TV bundles, positioning itself to compete with the likes of YouTube TV and Sling. In addition, they have plenty of add-on options for TV lovers, offering HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, and Starz subscriptions, as well as Cloud DVR and unlimited screens so everyone in the family can watch at the same time.
Hulu Account Limits Profiles And Parental Controls
All three tiers of Hulu permit streaming to two devices simultaneously and allow for up to six separate profiles per account. As mentioned above, the Unlimited Screens Add-on allows subscribers to stream on an unlimited number of devices at home, plus up to three on the go, for an extra fee.
Unfortunately, that add-on is only accessible to subscribers of the Hulu with Live TV or Hulu with Live TV plan and is restricted when watching content through one of the premium network add-ons. That means viewers sharing one account can only stream Premium Add-on content from a total of five screens at one time.
Regarding parental controls, Hulu gives subscribers the ability to create a Kids Profile, ensuring that viewers using that profile can only search and watch kid-friendly content available in the Kids hub. You can also contact Hulu to adjust the age setting for the entire account, which will block mature content across all profiles connected to the account.

Is Hulu + Live TV Worth It
Hulu + Live TV is perhaps the best value for streaming Live TV. And that is largely due to its vast on-demand library that it has been building up for over a decade. Most of its competitors have only a fraction of the content that Hulu does. So even if you dont opt for the Live TV option, you can get Hulu and have plenty of content to watch, with new episodes landing daily and weekly.
At $54.99 per month, Hulu + Live TV is also far cheaper than some of the other services out there. FuboTV, YouTube TV and AT& T TV NOW are all priced at $64.99 per month now. Sure they have more channels, but not that many more. And they also dont have that vast Hulu library of on-demand content available. That makes Hulu + Live TV a pretty impressive option. And itll continue to add more channels in the coming months. However, fingers crossed that it doesnt see as many price increases as other services have recently.
