Does Netflix Work On Older Samsung TVs

Do you own one of the older models of Samsung smart televisions? If so, you may be wondering if Netflix works on them. Unfortunately, this service has a few limitations. It no longer supports some 2010 and 2011 models. Additionally, the app wont work on seven older Roku streaming sticks. Luckily, there are plenty of other streaming devices you can use to watch Netflix. Heres how to check whether your TV supports Netflix.

First, if your TV is a Samsung Smart TV, it doesnt come with Netflix pre-installed. To get Netflix installed, open the app store on your Samsung Smart TV. If you have a strong Wi-Fi connection, simply select the Netflix icon from the list of apps. Your TV will then download the app. This procedure may take a couple of minutes. If this doesnt work, you may have to delete and reinstall the Netflix app.

In some cases, older Samsung smart TV models may not support Netflix. In these cases, you will need to buy an extra connecting device, such as a streaming stick, or wait for Netflix to support those models. Once you have these two steps, you should be able to watch Netflix on your Samsung TV. And if youre still not able to access Netflix, you can try to find a different model of Samsung Smart TV.

Unplug Your Samsung TV

This is the old turn-it-off, turn-it-back-on method that many experts still use to fix software bugs.

If your smart TV freezes whenever you attempt to launch Netflix, you may have a more substantial reason to try this.

Before that, ensure your internet is stable, and you are using the right streaming plan.

If you are streaming in Standard Definition, your internet speed should be 3 Mbps. For High Definition Streaming, you require not less than 5 Mbps. Ultra-High Definition requires at least 25 Mbps.

If speed and streaming plans are not the underlying issues, you can soft reset your Smart TV by following these steps:

  • Unplug the TV and wait for at least 30 seconds
  • Hold the power button for at least 5 seconds
  • Allow everything to reset fully
  • Try launching the Netflix app
