Only two teams remain in the 2022 NBA Playoffs, as the stage is set for a clash of giants in the NBA Finals!
The Boston Celtics are on the road in San Francisco to take on the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of the 2022 NBA Finals on Thursday night, a matchup that features two of the leagues most historic and most decorated franchises in the NBAs 75th anniversary season.
The stars will surely show out in this series, as both teams are led by some of the best talents this league has to offer.
Starting with the Golden Dynasty, the Warriors find themselves back in the NBA Finals for the sixth time in the last eight seasons, as they are on a quest to win their fourth title in this span. Their All-Star trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are not only healthy, but they have plenty of depth surrounding them once again.
This All-Star trio has turned into an All-Star quartet, as former No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins has joined the party in a big way, turning into an extremely valuable two-way presence for Golden State. A pivotal Game 3 of the 2021 NBA Finals takes place tonight when the Milwaukee Bucks host the Phoenix Suns. The Suns have a 2-0 lead in the series and could put their opponent on the ropes with a victory this evening.
The Bucks will be desperate to make a home stand after dropping back-to-back contests to open their first NBA Finals appearance in almost 50 years. The team can hardly afford to go down 3-0 though, as that is a spot that no team in the NBA Playoffs has ever managed to come back from.
Several squads have managed to claw out of a 2-0 hole, however, including during the final stop on the NBA Playoff bracket. The 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers were the most recent champion to start the Finals with a pair of losses, becoming the fourth team in 35 tries to battle back from a seemingly hopeless deficit.
Milwaukee has been in this situation before and come out on top, recently fighting back from an 0-2 start to beat the Brooklyn Nets in the Eastern Conference semifinals by a 4-3 margin. The Bucks caught a break in that series due to injuries to some of Brooklyns top players, but now must face a Suns opponent that is almost fully healthy.

Williams has been managing left knee soreness that has bothered him since the end of the regular season and kept him out at points during the playoffs. When he’s 100% and at the top of his game, though, the Celtics are at their best. Williams made his mark on Game 3 with eight points, 10 rebounds, four blocks and three steals in 26 minutes and played great defense all over the floor. Coach Ime Udoka called Williams a prototypical “modern-day NBA center.” His defensive versatility allows the Celtics to play big more often next to Al Horford and take advantage of the smaller Warriors.
Golden State’s Jordan Poole
Poole has arguably been the Warriors’ biggest X-factor the entire season, and we’re seeing why in the Finals. Aside from a short stretch late in Game 2 after the result was largely decided, Poole has not made a significant impact on the Finals. He’s scoring 12 points per game in the series after averaging 18.4 in the first three rounds. Golden State desperately needs his production as a third scoring option, especially if Steph Curry is going to be hampered at all by the apparent leg injury he sustained in Game 3.
