Sony TV Switching itself off FIX.

Take a look at your clicker, especially the power button. Is it stuck? This can happen if you or your family members have spilled something sticky on it. Try cleaning your remote until all the buttons work properly. To do this safely, first remove the batteries and shake loose any debris between the buttons. Then put some rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth or cotton swab and wipe the remote down, allowing it to air dry.

Sony Bravia Turns Itself On Randomly

I have just bought a Sony Bravia KD49X83 4K Ultra HD Android TV. I have a problem where the tv just turns itself on all on it’s own at any hour randomly. I do not have any timers set. Does anyone else have this problem

There are no lights flashing or anything

Hi there

Goto ECO in the power settings and turn OFF ‘idle tv standby’ – this is the likely cause.

Hi there

Sorry, me being dyslexic again, you mention TV switches on at random times – not off. When you say random times, do you mean at night or during the day – or both?

Do you have other devices connected to the tv that you use that may cause the tv to switch on?

Thanks for you quick reply. I have turned this to ‘OFF’ but why would this cause the tv to turn ON??

Hi thanks for your quick response.

The tv turns on both during the day and night. I have an xbox and BT YouView box attched to it. The BT box has to turn it’s self on in order to record a scheduled recording but this should not turn the TV on

Its the BT box under the TVs Bravia Sync settings that is probably turning the tv on.

  • Set the setting of to .

Give that a test and see if that works.

I have now done this and so good so far, thank you

I have just connected my new smart tv to a talktalk box and also to the internet. It keeps turning itself on randomly. Can anyone help

I also sometimes have to turn off the tv 3 times with the remote, as it turns itself back on straight after I turn it off.

Sony TV Wont Turn On It Just Keeps Clicking

There is a sound that a Sony TV makes when it is being turned on it is simply a clicking sound that lets you know that the on process is begging and that all things are going according to plan. This sound means that your favorite shows, best games, and newest movies are only seconds away from being watched. What do you do then if you go to turn on your TV and only hear that clicking sound over and over with no picture to follow?

If your Sony TV wont turn on but just keeps clicking, try completing an electrical reset first. This has been previously suggested, but is very simple and only requires you to unplug the TV from its power source for two minutes. The continual clicking could be a simple lag in your TVs system that occurred randomly and is not a big matter to expunge with a small reset.

If the electrical reset does not work, turn your TV on as you would regularly, but as soon as you hear the click press and hold the power button on your remote control until you see the picture appear within a few minutes. If this still does not work, try to reset your remote which can be found previously under the section Sony TV Keeps Turning Off and On By Itself. Your remote could be sending a bad signal which can be the culprit for continuous clicking.
