Ive been asked about the best way to clean LCD screens, both TVs and computers.
Remember the good old days when TVs and computer monitor screens were glass, and you could break out a bottle of Windex and a paper towel and scrub as hard as you liked?
Well, dont do that anymore.
After 18 years in the IT business, theres something Ive noticed.
There are people who touch their monitors and people who dont.
This goes for both desktop and laptop users.
As a person who works on other peoples computers for a living, I use that opportunity to clean each computer screen after my work is done.
So what do I use?
A microfiber cloth works best.
If the surface is not too gross, you can get away with just using the microfiber cloth.
If there are some smudges and fingerprints, Id wet one corner of the cloth and go over the screen evenly with the wet side, then turn the cloth over and dry it really well. Dont let water dry on the screen itll leave spots.
If youre really bad about touching your screen, look for a commercial cleaner from a place like Frys or Best Buy.
Within arms reach on my desk right now I have two screen cleaners one is in a spray bottle and the other is a pre-moistened towelette.
The spray is one I reviewed a few months back from Antec called 3X Strength Spray. It comes in a handy spray bottle, and when paired with a microfiber cloth , its a formidable cleaner.
Shes probably right.
