Plug In An Apple Device Directly To Your TV
If you have at least one Apple device on hand and chances are you do if youre reading this guide and want to watch Apple TV+ shows at all you could simply plug that device into a TV directly. In my case, I have an iPad Pro, so I used an HDMI adapter like this one from Anker to plug my iPad Pro directly into the TV. From there, I could simply open up the Apple TV app and I was good to go full quality, very little iPad battery drain, and seamless control from my iPad.
Even if you dont own an Apple device, though, you could still technically use this method. As mentioned above, Apple TV+ does indeed have a web streaming app, so you could login to that and similarly connect your PC to your TV and stream from there.

But originals are pretty much all Apple TV Plus has.
Apple TV Plus lacks a deep library of licensed shows and movies to dive into. The service has original programming almost exclusively. Its lineup of high-end originals has grown to more than five dozen titles since it launched two years ago, including the ones listed above as well as See, a fantasy starring Jason Momoa Finch, a postapocalyptic Tom Hanks movie about a man, his dog and a robot and Invasion, a drama series about an alien… invasion The Problem With Jon Stewart, the comedy host’s return to current-affairs TV and The Morning Show, its drama series starring A-listers Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
Apple TV Plus also doesn’t have its own dedicated app . Its shows are inside the Apple TV app.

If youre using a Windows or Chrome OS computer, you arent locked out of watching content on Apples video streaming serviceyou just need to open up the Apple TV+ web app in a browser of your choice, click Watch now and Sign in, and log in using your Apple ID credentials. Youll see everything youre currently watching at the top, and a wider selection of shows further down.
Its not the most polished or reliable video streaming web app weve ever come across, but then web apps have never been a particularly strong suit for Apple. It does the job of letting you log in and watch your Apple TV+ shows on just about every computeralthough the web app doesnt work on Macs, it just forces you into the native TV app instead.

What Devices Can Stream Apple TV Plus
Apple’s programming is available on all its devices with the Apple TV app.
Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston revealed the name of their Apple TV Plus series, The Morning Show, at an Apple’s event.
In addition, Apple TV Plus is available on some competitors’ devices. Apple’s TV app is available on Roku and Fire TV, two of the most widely used streaming devices in the US, and for smart TVs from Samsung and LG. You can watch it on Sony and Vizio smart TVs via AirPlay, and the TV app should be available for those smart TVs now.
Apple widened support for Apple TV Plus to game consoles in the fall. In October, Sony said its Playstation 5 would support Apple TV Plus at launch. A couple of weeks later, Microsoft said Apple TV Plus would be supported on the Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
Subscribers will also be able to watch Apple TV Plus on the web at tv.apple.com.
But the Apple TV app isn’t available on any mobile devices except iPhones or iPads. That means Apple TV Plus subscribers with non-Apple phones — meaning, the huge population of people with Android phones — need to stream to their mobiles via the web, rather than in an app.

How Can I Get The Apple TV+ App On My Television And Devices
You watch Apple TV+ via the Apple TV app which means you can watch it on a range of Apple devices but also on compatible TVs and streaming sticks.
If you have an iPhone, iPad or Mac or Apple TV box youll have the Apple TV app pre-loaded.
If you own a Smart TV from providers such as Samsung, LG or Sony, you can also download the Apple TV app to them and watch on your television. To check if your television is supported, go to the apps section on your TV and look for the Apple TV app.
If you want to watch Apple TV+ through your TV but it doesnt support the app, you can either buy a streaming stick such as Roku or Amazons Fire TV Stick, which plug into your TV.
The app is also now available on PlayStation and Xbox after many had been asking for it to be added there since it originally launched.
How To Get The Best Quality Apple TV+ On Your TV
If you’re more interested in taking advantage of Apple’s support for 4K HDR content, then you’ll need something a little more advanced, although not much more expensive. While Apple TV 4K might seem like the obvious choice, you can get access to the TV services for much less money.
Remember that you not only get access to Apple TV+ through the Apple TV app – but all the iTunes TV content you may have purchased in the past too.

The is the obvious choice for those wanting the best quality from Apple TV but without paying more than you need to. This streaming stick is very similar to the Fire TV Stick above, but it supports 4K resolutions and it supports Dolby Vision HDR – which Apple TV also offers.
Otherwise the experience is very much the same, with a full range of services , but note that you need to have a TV that supports Dolby Vision if that’s what you want to watch.

If you don’t have a Dolby Vision TV and have no intention of buying one, then the Roku Streaming Stick+ is a fantastic alternative. It supports 4K HDR so your content will still look great and we’ve always been impressed with the performance of this device. We suspect that most 4K TV owners will choose the Roku.
There’s also the Roku Premiere that’s a little cheaper than the Streaming Stick+, but we prefer to have the stick tucked away behind the TV and out of sight.

Theres no Apple TV+ app for Android TV either, unsurprisingly.
What you can do is load up the Apple TV+ web app in a Chrome browser tab and then cast that tab to your Chromecast or Android TV click the Chrome menu then Cast. Weve tested this out and it works well enough: Its not the smoothest video and audio experience youre ever going to come across, but shows and movies are certainly watchable.
