Alexa can control a Samsung TV if the Samsung TV was made after 2018. Earlier Samsung TVs arent compatible with Alexa. But, you can add the ability to do that by using an Amazon Fire TV Stick. An Amazon Fire TV stick costs around US$ 50.

How To Connect Smartthings To Your Samsung Smart TV

Before you begin, you’ll need to make sure that both your TV and your mobile device are connected to the same network. A wireless network is usually best, but a wired connection between your TV and your router also allows this process to work.

A wireless connection is preferable because sometimes the ethernet port on the TV will shut down if it hasn’t been used in a while. When this happens, you will not be able to turn the TV on without the remote.

Once you’ve got a good connection, you’ll need to make sure you’ve downloaded and set up the SmartThings app on both your mobile device and your television. Most newer Samsung TVs have this app installed from the factory, but if your TV does not, you’ll need to go into the apps section of the Samsung menu, search for the app, then add it.

If you are unable to find the app on your TV, it is either already installed, or your TV is not supported. Please check the Samsung website for details.

Next, you’ll need to add your television to the SmartThings app. To do this, open the SmartThings app and tap the + in the upper right corner of the screen. Then tap Device. From there, tap either or . Either of these works, so use whichever you’re most comfortable with.

If you’ve chosen , scroll down the page until you see TV. Tap the TV icon. The screen should change to a screen that shows the Samsung logo. Tap this section to view the list of Supported devices, as well as add your TV to the app.
