    Apple TV Remote Control Tips

The basic functionality of the Apple TV 4K remote control is easy enough to pick up once you know what the buttons do and youve used it for a while. Still, theres a lot of functionality that isnt immediately apparent.

Here are some tips for getting the most out of your Apple TV 4K remote:

    • How do I get Siri to stop talking on my Apple TV?

You can turn voiceover off using Apple’s accessibility settings. On Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD, go to Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver, and then turn VoiceOver off. Alternatively, hold the Siri button on your remote and say, “Turn VoiceOver off.”

    • How do I connect a Siri remote to a different Apple TV?

If you lose your Siri remote or otherwise need to pair a different remote with your TV, you might need to unpair it from the original TV first. To unpair, go to the Apple TV menu and select Settings> General > Remotes and Devices > Unpair Apple Remote. Then, on the new Apple TV, go to Settings > General > Remotes and Devices > Pair Apple Remote.

    Pair The Remote Again

If the problem isnt just a dead remote, pair it again manually using the steps below:

Step 1: Check that your Apple TV has power.

You should see a small, white LED illuminated on the front. If not, unplug the power cable, wait 6 seconds, and then plug it back in. You should now see a shining, white LED.

Step 2: Make sure your TV is turned on, set to the correct HDMI port, and displaying the Apple TV home screen.

Step 3: Stand at least 3 inches away from the Apple TV unit, point the remote toward the TV, and then press and hold the Menu and Volume Up buttons for 5 seconds.

Step 4: If prompted, place the remote on top of the Apple TV device.

You should see a message confirming that your Apple TV remote was successfully paired. If you dont, and if the Apple TV still doesnt respond to button presses, continue to the next step.

Step 5: Unplug the Apple TV unit, wait 6 seconds, and then plug it back in .

    Step 6: Repeat steps 2 to 4.

If, after trying all of these steps, your Apple TV remote still wont control your Apple TV, it could be defective. Unfortunately, this means youll need to call Apple support and/or head to the nearest Apple Store.

Hdmi Cables: Hdmi 10 Vs Hdmi 20

One last thing: if you bought your HDMI cables a super long time agoIm talking before 2005then you may need to upgrade your cables. CEC was implemented starting in HDMI 1.2a in December 2005. Additional CEC features were added in HDMI 1.3, HDMI 1.4, and HDMI 2.0. Im not sure which version of CEC Apple TVs require, but if you bought an HDMI cable after 2013, chances are its an HDMI 2.0 cable and is fully supported. If you know for a fact that you have something earlier than HDMI 2.0 and it works, please let me know, since Im curious.

If you got HDMI 1.0 cables wired into your walls and ceilings like 15 years ago, then well sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
