Use Chromecast To Stream With iPad Or iPhone

Apple isn’t the only company that offers a streaming device for iPhone and iPad. There’s also the Chromecast from Google that’s similar but works wirelessly.

Chromecast works much differently than the adapter in that not everything on the screen can be streamed to the TV. Streaming is app-specific, meaning that you must have an app that supports Chromecast to see the content on the TV.

While there are lots of apps that support Chromecast, you’re limited in that you can’t stream your iPad or iPhone home screen, nor can you open just any app and stream the whole thing to your TV. You need extra software to make AirPlay work with Chromecast.

  • Make sure the Chromecast and iOS device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

This is the easiest way to connect them together, though there are ways to use Chromecast without Wi-Fi.

  • Open a Chromecast-compatible app.

Some examples include Netflix, YouTube, Google Photos, and Hulu, but there are many others, including games, movie apps, sports apps, etc.

  • Select the cast button .

  • If asked, select the correct Chromecast from the list that you want to stream your iPad or iPhone to.

Screen Time Family Link Vs Freetime: Extend Time

If you want to extend the time limit after its been reached, your child will need to get in touch with you somehow. On your childs Amazon device, they need you to enter the master PIN. On Family Link, theyll need to enter a one-time expiring access code that parents can find in the sidebar of the Family Link app on their phone.

Apple, on the other hand, lets kids send a message to their parents requesting additional time. If they tap the Ask for more time button, theyll send a message to their parents that will appear as a notification. Tap it and you can extend their session by 15 minutes, an hour, all day, or decline their request.

    Information About Device Usage

Under the Screen Time menu, youll find a usage report for the iOS device youre on, giving a total amount of screen time used, broken into categorical usage. Tapping on the Screen Time usage report will bring up more detailed information by day or for the last seven days.

The Screen Time area will show you how much time your child has spent on their device in the following areas: Social Networking, Reading & Reference, Productivity, Entertainment, Creativity, Health & Fitness, and Games. Tapping on any of the categories will show a further breakdown of usage with specific apps under that heading.

The information in the screen time area is almost eerie with its reports, showing users how often they pick up their device in a day, in addition to the number of notifications they receive per day. As a parent, you can see how often your child is checking their phone and how often theyre getting called to their device for a notification .
