Apple Reportedly Plans To Put Ads In More Apps On Your iPhone
- Apple is reportedly planning to expand its advertising business, which generates about $4 billion annually, according to Bloomberg.
- The report said Apple has discussed adding ads to Apple Maps and is likely to expand ads into its Books and Podcasts apps.
In this article
Apple may expand its advertising to more of its first-party apps on the iPhone in an effort to boost revenue, according to Bloomberg.
The company generates about $4 billion in annual revenue from its ad business but wants to grow the segment into the “double digits,” according to the report.
Apple already shows ads in some apps, such as Apple News and Stocks. It also recently announced plans to expand ads in the App Store. Bloomberg said the company is considering ways to add advertising to Apple Maps, for example, which so far has stood out from its competitor, Google Maps, by not showing ads. The report said it’s “likely” that Apple also will insert ads into the stores for Podcasts and Books, too.
An Apple spokesperson wasn’t immediately available to comment on the report.
Meanwhile, Apple has targeted other companies that push ads to iPhone users.
Last year, Apple released an update for iPhones with a new popup that asked users if they wanted to allow apps on their phones to target the user for ads. The privacy feature, called App Tracking Transparency, has upended the behind-the-scenes mechanics of many mobile ads, especially those that confirm whether a purchase or download was made.

Apple by default monitors your search and reading history to provide ads in Apple Store and Apple News. In addition to this, lots of tvOS compatible apps also bring you ads. As a result, tvOS users will probably end up watching those annoying ads and waste a minute or two. Fortunately, Apple itself has provided an option to block ads on Apple TV. If you arent informed about it previously, then we will help you deal with it.

Are All Apple TV+ Shows Available In 4k
Yes. Early on, Apple announced that all shows would be available in 4K HDR/Dolby Vision and that most shows would have Dolby Atmos sound, but it didnt say just how good it would be. According to FlatplanelsHDs Rasmus Larsen, Apple TV+ offers the best 4K streaming quality of any service on the market. Its so good, in fact, that the 4K bitrates are better than what youll see in some iTunes movies.
When Larsen wrote his post in November of 2019, See had the highest bitrate of any Apple TV+ show, with an average bitrate of 29Mbps and a peak of 41Mbps. Snoopy in Space averaged 13Mbps, which is impressive for a cartoon. Netflixs 4K bitrates, by comparison, tend to peak at 16Mbps.

Media agency reports claim that Apple is exploring the addition of ads to Apple TV+ shows, as part of its push to increase its ad revenues.
Apple’s privacy efforts have given the impression that the company is against advertising, but that has never been the case. But it is claimed that Apple is exploiting its privacy features to give it an edge against other companies.
That edge is in the form of the company’s long-held search advertising service, which has been predicted to grow to a $6 billion business by 2025.
Now according to Digiday, Apple is looking to expand its ad sales with Apple TV+.
Various sources have told the publication that Todd Teresi, Apple vice president of ad platforms, has been meeting with ad network executives. One unnamed media agency source said that they were due another meeting with Teresi in November, and believes it will be concerned with TV ads.
” did express interest in expanding their business,” said the source, “but he also made it very clear that Apple will do nothing unless one, there’s a significant opportunity, and two, they would never do anything to jeopardize the relationship they have with their consumers.”
“Anything that would open up premium inventory would be a positive,” continued this unnamed marketing executive. “The last bastion is Apple TV.”

For years, Apple has been a loud critic of online advertising that relies on hogging as much information about us as possible. Now, the company wants to become a bigger seller of online ads, and says it can do so in a less creepy way.
The question is: Can Apple successfully sell online ads without the ick?
This will be a test with us as real-world subjects of whether there can be a future of digital advertising that gobbles less of our information, or whether the status quo is too powerful to change.
Apples goal is possible, digital advertising experts told me, but it wont be easy.
Many companies, including Google, Facebook and obscure data middlemen, track our phones wherever we roam, record all the websites and apps we use and match up bits of seemingly small details like how much battery life is left on our phones.
They do this mostly to fine-tune pitches for butt flap pajamas and other stuff, or to sell our data in bulk in ways we cant imagine.
Let me explain why Apple wants to go bigger in ads, how the company approaches advertising and how our digital experiences might change.
Why does Apple want to sell more ads?
How Apples ads are different.
