Perform A Factory Data Reset On Your Chromecast
If all else fails and your Chromecast still isnt working, its time to perform a factory data reset. The good news is you wont lose any data, but you will have to set up your Chromecast again from scratch.
Without unplugging your Chromecast, hold down the button on the back of the device for at least 25 seconds. Your TV screen will eventually go blank, and the reset process will begin.

When your Chromecast isnt working, the first thing you should try is rebooting the device. The easiest way to do this is the tried and true method of unplugging it, waiting for a minute or so, then plugging it back in.

Playstation Vue Another Way To Watch Live TV On Chromecast
PlayStation Vue is another service that is similar to the two weve already discussed. It provides live streaming of several great channels, and is offered at a reasonable $30 per month. Its a solid Chromecast live TV option, but definitely not the best value.
The basic package of Vue has 45+ channels, and costs $30 per month. This puts it in the middle ground between Sling TV and DIRECTV NOW, price-wise. However, due to the specific channel selection and some other downsides with Vue, we always recommend DIRECTV NOW and Sling TV as better overall choices.
With that said, PlayStation Vue works fine on Chromecast, and provides another way to stream live TV on Chromecast and some other devices. There are just better services out there, though.
League Sports Packages Best For Specific Sports
If youre a general sports fan, something like Sling TV or fuboTV is best. But if youre an NBA fan, a NHL maniac, or a MLB nut, then you may want to consider a service designed specifically for that sport. Theres NBA League Pass, NHL.TV, and MLB.TV, all of which have Chromecast support. You can subscribe to these services to get on-demand and live access to select games and coverage, although local teams are generally blacked out. Availability and prices vary, so check out the relevant service if youre interested.

If you have an Android device, you can use your Chromecast without a Wi-Fi connection.
The process for using a Chromecast without Wi-Fi is much the same as casting with Wi-Fi. Follow the previous instructions to either cast content from your entire screen or an app.
Your Android device will look for nearby Chromecasts that are not on a network. When you see the Chromecast that you want to connect to, tap on its name. A four-digit PIN will appear on the TV screen. When prompted, enter it into your Android to complete the connection.
Note: If you have an iPhone and you regularly need to cast without Wi-Fi, arguably the best solution is to buy an inexpensive travel router.

For those looking for more channel selection, DIRECTV NOW is a great choice. Its similar to Sling TV in that it gives you a wide range of channels to watch live, and it works on Chromecast.
