Cast From A Chromecast
Google’s Chromecast is a unique device that lets you wirelessly “cast” content from your phone, tablet, or computer to your TV. Like most ordinary streaming players, the Chromecast plugs into an HDMI port on your TV. But it then plays video wirelessly from your device.

Amazon Prime users can already download movies and TV episodes to their mobile device using Primes Instant Video service, but now you can also download Amazon Video directly to your micro SD memory card. Heres the skinny.

Unlike with Netflix, you cant yet get Amazon Prime Video bundled in as part of your Sky TV package. This means that youll need to sign up to Amazon Prime on your own in order to watch the content available there. While this might seem annoying or drawn out, its actually relatively simple to sign up to Amazon and watch the content via your Sky Box.

Amazon Prime Video: Audio Subtitles 51 And Dolby Atmos
Prime Video content generally comes with 5.1 sound, but there’s also a small amount that boasts Dolby Atmos. Most devices, including most smart TVs, games consoles, Amazon devices, Android devices, Chromecast, Apple TV, some Blu-ray players and set-top-boxes, will simply play the best format available.
Unfortunately, the iOS app doesn’t support Atmos or 5.1. Even if extending content to Atmos-enabled devices from there, they’ll still be stuck with stereo soundtracks.
Changing subtitles
Sometimes you might want to enjoy the sound of silence and flick on the subtitles. To do that, hit the the up arrow on a smart TV remote and navigate to the Closed Captioning icon, or use the options button on an Amazon Fire remote. In the mobile app, simply tap the dialogue box in the top right corner while watching.
You can change how they look, too. In Prime Video’s website settings, you can choose between four editable presets. From there, you can adjust text colour, typeface, size and opacity.
Many, but not all, Prime Video titles include subtitles, alternative tracks, audio descriptions, or a combination of those.

The main benefit of using Prime Channels is that it provides one place — the Prime Video app, a Fire tablet or Fire TV — to access content from multiple providers. Instead of watching Grand Designs via the separate BritBox app, for example, you watch it within Prime Video. Billing is also handled by one central source . Content from channels is also often included in Amazon’s search indexes, making it easier to find on Fire TV devices or via Alexa voice search.
Some services like BritBox, Acorn TV and CuriosityStream do offer yearly discounts that aren’t available through Prime Channels. For example, the BritBox channel costs $7 per month as both a Prime Channel and via its stand-alone app, but the stand-alone subscription is also available for $70 per year, which works out to $5.83 per month. Amazon Prime Video: Profiles & Parental Controls

Amazon Prime Video will recommend TV shows and films based on your past viewing history, but what if youre really into crime thrillers, your other half loves romantic comedies and the kids love cartoons?
The answer is to create different user profiles. You can have up to six on one account and they can be set as either adult or kids profiles. Kids profiles offer a more kid-friendly selection of films and shows but also allow parents to limit purchases and see what’s being viewed from behind the scenes.
You’ll find a drop-down menu where it says your user name and it’s from there that you can add, remove and edit profiles.
You can stream up to three films or TV shows simultaneously from the same Amazon Prime Video account on different devices.
Parental controls
Parental controls are also important if dont want your little ones coming across adult content. The solution is to set up a four-digit PIN. You can do this on the web by going into the ‘Settings’ of the Prime Video section of Amazons site, and also in the mobile app’s settings.
Once set, you can restrict access to certain content based on the age certificate of that film or show and also by the device that’s being used. So, you can keep the 18s flowing on your main TV but lock it down to just PGs on the kids’ tablet, for example.
Do bear in mind that from Fire TV kit and Xboxes, this will have to be done on the devices themselves.

Amazon Prime Video: Buy Or Stream
Amazon Prime Video has a mixture of content available to purchase and to stream with your Video subscription – but how do you know which is which?
If theres a blue Prime banner in the top left corner of the shows icon, that means the series is free to stream with your subscription. However, just because a show is part of a Prime Video subscription, it doesnt mean that each and every episode or series will be. You might get seasons three and five of Line of Duty, for example, but you’d have to purchase or rent the others to watch the lot.
The more recent series eventually become free but they can take a while. Amazon Originals, however, don’t suffer from this issue all episodes available to Prime Members from the get-go without having to pay extra.
How Can I Watch Amazon Prime Video On TV
If you dont have a Sky Q box, youll still be able to watch Amazon Prime Video on your TV, providing you have a Smart TV. The vast majority of Smart TVs allow you to download an Amazon Video app directly to the TV, just like youd be able to with a Sky Q Box. However, if you have an older model Sky box and a standard TV, youll have to watch via another method, such as smartphone, tablet, games console or laptop.

How Do I Cancel Amazon Prime
In order to cancel your Amazon Prime membership, youll need to go on the website or mobile app, go to your account settings, then Memberships and subscriptions. From there, youll be able to manage your subscription and cancel it if youd like to. Youll also be able to manage all other subscriptions you may have on top of Prime, such as Starz Play or BFI Player.
Apple TV Nvidia Shield And Chromecast
If you are using Apple TV you can also enjoy Amazon Prime Video. Simply download the app from the Apple TV app store and log in with your account credentials. Only 3rd and 4th generation Apple TVs have access to the app store, where you can download the Prime Video app.
Nvidia Shield devices are also compatible with the Prime Video app. In addition, many users take advantage of the option to view their favorite movies and TV shows offline. If you already have an Nvidia Shield device, just install the Prime Video app and log in to start viewing.
If you’re using Chromecast, be aware: you cannot send Prime Video content directly through the app. Luckily, there’s a trick. The Google Home app allows you to send video and audio via Chromecast from your mobile phone to your TV. All you need to do is play the show or movie you want using the Prime Video app on your smartphone or tablet, and then share it to your TV.
