What Generation Of Apple TV Do You Have
If you have the 4th and the 5th generation of Apple TV we have good news for you. You can add apps to Apple TV.
In addition to default apps that are installed on your Apple TV, you can go to the app store and install new apps. The process of installing apps on Apple TV is pretty straightforward, but a bit different from installing apps on mobile phones. Depending on the app you purchased for your iPhone, you can redownload it on your Apple TV. Simply access the option Not on This Apple TV from the Apple TV Purchased menu and check the list of apps you can download.
Another way is to simply browse the app store for Apple TV and download new applications. If the app is free there will be Get button and if it is paid, you will see the option to buy. For those apps you already have on your iPhone or iPad, it will ask you install the app again.
Unfortunately, if you own older generations of Apple TV you cannot easily add apps to it. However, there are workaround ways:
- Use AirPlay to stream the apps you have on your iPhone or iPad
- Jailbreak your Apple TV
How Do You Download New Apps
The simplest way to download apps on the new Apple TV is by going to the App Store app from your homescreen, then find the Featured tab, and browse the apps highlighted. From there, click any app you find interesting. You will then see its cost. It might be free, free with in-app purchases, or a paid app. Click the free/price button to get the app and then confirm.

Exclusive: How To Get The Apple TV App For Windows 10 Computers
Apple has been said to be working on a new Apple TV app for Windows 10 computers. Right now, the only Apple apps that are in the Microsoft app store are iTunes and iCloud.
However, thanks to a little trick found by , there is a way to get an Apple TV app for your Windows 10 computer.
The way to do this is to get and open the newest version of the Microsoft Edge browser, go to the Apple website and head over to the TV section. From there, you will see a gray bar that will have six different choices across the top. You will want to hit the Apple TV+ button, which will then take you to that page.
Once you are at the Apple TV+ page, click the three dots in the top-right corner of the Edge browser, scroll down to Apps and then you should see an option that says Install this site as an app. You click that and then you will be able to have an Apple TV app on your Windows 10 computer.
This can all be seen in the video below. It does get blurry near the end, so that is why we wrote it out for you.
Right now, this is the only known way to get an Apple TV+ app for any Windows computer, as Apple has yet to release one.

Press the Home button to open up the TVs Home screen menu. If the app is listed on the Home menu, use the remotes directional pad to navigate to it and open it. If the app isnt listed on the Home menu, use the directional pad to navigate to and select APPS. From here, you can select the app you want.

Buying Apps On Ios And Downloading On Apple TV
Apple recently added the Apple TV identifier for universal apps to iTunes on iOS, which makes it easier to figure out which iOS apps are compatible with Apple TV. The identifier is not yet available in iTunes on desktop computers, but will likely be added later.
If you download an iOS game that is also available on tvOS, it will automatically appear in the Purchased section of Apple TV’s App Store. Any tvOS-compatible apps or games that you’ve downloaded or purchased in the past will also be available in the Purchased section.
In the Purchased section, you can filter your apps by recently added or updated, or by category.
Currently, there is still no way to view Apple TV-exclusive apps in iTunes.

Reset The Apple TV App And Apple TV+ App
Before you sell or give away your device or uninstall the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app, you should reset the Apple TV app and Apple TV+ app. Resetting the Apple TV app and Apple TV+ app signs you out of your account, removes your personal information, and restores the apps to their original settings.
If you reset the Apple TV app and Apple TV+ app on a smart TV that’s also signed in to the Apple Music app, then the Apple Music app will also be restored to its original settings.
Using Apple TV On Samsung
If you have a Samsung TV but Apple mobile devices, you can actually watch Apple TV and iTunes movies, shows and channels on your TV. Installing Apps On 4th And 5th Gen Apple TV: Yes
If you have the 4th generation Apple TV, which Apple introduced in Sept. 2015, or the Apple TV 4K, aka the 5th generation model, that debuted in Sept. 2017, you can download Apple TV apps to it.
Those versions of the Apple TV are built around the idea that, as Tim Cook said when introducing the 4th gen. model, apps are the future of television.
Installing apps on the 4th or 5th gen. Apple TV is similar to and just as easy as, installing them on an iPhone or iPad. The operating system that runs on the Apple TV, called tvOS, is slightly different from iOS, so the steps for installing apps on it are slightly different, too. Just like on the iPhone and iPad, you can redownload apps on Apple TV, too. Go to the App Store app on your Apple TV, select the Purchased menu, and then select Not on This Apple TV for a list of apps available for redownload.
How To Download An App Or Game From The App Store On Apple Watch
The process for downloading an app is pretty similar to getting one on your iPhone.
Tap the method you want to use to search. Your options are:
Tap Done.
Tap on the app you want to download.
Tap Enter your password if prompted.
Tap the method you want to enter your password. You can use scribble or your iPhone keyboard.
Tap Done on your Apple Watch or return on your iPhone.
You download will now start downloading immediately onto Apple Watch and iPhone.

How To Get To The App Store On An Apple TV
On Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD, the App store should appear in its standard position on the top bar of the home screen. It is a blue rectangle with three white lines in the shape of an “A.”
The App store can be moved by holding the Selection button on your remote while hovering over the App Store icon. The app will begin to vibrate, allowing you to move it to wherever you wish on your Home screen.
When the App store icon is vibrating, hitting the play/pause button on your remote will also allow you to move it to the Utilities folder.
If your App store is not in the top toolbar, it may have been inadvertently moved. You can find it by searching through the apps on your Home screen.

How To Use The App Store On Apple TV
The fourth-generation Apple TV has a lot of new features, one of them being the addition of the Apple TV App Store. On the surface, the App Store on Apple TV seems similar to that of the iOS or OS X version. There are, however, some aspects of the tvOS App Store that are are a little different and might need some explaining.
