Which Roku Devices Support Airplay
Currently, only certain 4K Roku devices support AirPlay, including some Roku TV models, the Roku Ultra, Roku Streaming Stick+, Roku Premiere, Roku Streambar, Roku Express, and Roku Smart Soundbar.
To find out if your Roku device supports AirPlay, you can go to Settings> System > About on your Roku device and compare your model number to the chart below.
Note: The Xs in the chart above are placeholders. If you have a Roku TV that contains the same letters and numbers without the Xs, it should support AirPlay.
If your Roku device is not compatible with AirPlay, you can still use your iPhone to cast videos, music, and photos to your TV. Check out our step-by-step guide on how to cast content from your iPhone to a Roku device to find out more.

Did You Install The Apple TV App On An Sd Card
Some Roku devices are equipped with SD Card slots which allow you to not only store movies and other content, but also apps. However, it seems that Apple has made it so that its TV app cannot be installed directly onto an SD Card. Instead, you will need to remove the app from the card and install it onto the Roku directly.
Heres what youll need to do if youve installed the app on an SD Card through your Roku:
From here, you can either proceed down the method of signing in with your Mobile Device or just with your username and password. Its recommended to try signing in with your mobile device, especially if you have two-factor authentication installed.
Its unknown whether Apple will fix this bug and make it possible to install the TV app on an SD card. For the time being, we wouldnt recommend re-downloading the app to the SD Card and just leave it installed on the Roku itself.

Select Streaming Channels to open the Channel Store, then select Search Channels. Begin typing Apple TV Plus. Once you see Apple TV Plus in the search results, click on it and select Add Channel.
After the app is installed, you can select it on the list of installed channels on your home screen.
The next step is to log into your Apple ID. You can either enter your credentials with the Roku remote or sign in using a mobile device. With this second option, you are given either a QR code to scan with your phones camera or an alphanumeric code to type into activate.apple.com.
If you dont already have an Apple account, youll be given the opportunity to set one up at this point. This likely also means you won’t have an Apple TV Plus account, so make sure you visit the Apple TV Plus website to get your subscription.

Unplug TV And Roku Device
The next step to get Apple TV working again on your Roku is to unplug your TV and your Roku streaming device, if you have one.
The key here is to actually wait a FULL 60 seconds. Have a little bit of patience and make sure its been at least a minute before plugging your TV, and the Roku back in.
While the TV is unplugged, find and hold thepower button for 30 seconds. Make sure you are holding the power button on your TV, and not your remote!
This will help to drain any residual power left in the TV and allows the TV to soft reset itself. This is different than simply switching the remote on and off!
Once you plug the TV and Roku back in after the 60 seconds, power the TV back on and Apple TV should be working again.
If it is, great! If youre still having trouble, try the additional fixes detailed below.
