It’s Not The Most Beloved Ryan Murphy Show
Critics have not been particularly kind to 9-1-1. The first season carries a score of 60 on review aggregator Metacritic, faring worse than the first seasons of Ryan’s other shows Nip/Tuck, Glee, American Horror Story, American Crime Story, and The New Normal. ” is as outrageous as you’d expect from a Murphy production: Babies flushed down toilets! Snakes getting beheaded! Connie Britton with bad hair!” The Daily Beast‘s Kevin Fallon quipped. “But it’s also depressingly derivative and middle-of-the-road.”
A post shared by 9-1-1 on Jan 5, 2018 at 1:58pm PST
“As long as these first responders are on the job, careening from one wild crisis to another, 9-1-1 has the making of a hit,” said TV Guide Magazine‘s Matt Roush, per Metacritic. “It’s when we go off duty with these heroes, played by one of TV’s most ridiculously overqualified casts that the show flatlines with maudlin subplots that might have been rejected by General Hospital.” Ouch. On the plus side, though, the show’s first season scored better than that of Ryan’s previous Fox drama, Scream Queens. Plus, 11 million viewers can’t be too wrong, right?

Ryan Murphy Was Inspired By His Family’s Real
Ryan has been incubating the idea for this series ever since he and husband David Miller had to call 9-1-1 themselves, as he revealed at the Television Critics Association press tour panel for the show in January. “My son Ford was 11 months old and in the middle of the night stopped breathing,” Ryan told reporters, according to Variety. “We called 9-1-1, and obviously we were in a panic and doing CPR, and they showed up, and at two in the morning there were four responders. They were incredibly calm and nurturing, and they brought him back to life.”

The Simpsons Showrunner On Uncanny Predictions: 9/11 Was Bizarre
Al Jean tells NME about guessing right on multiple historical events
The Simpsons showrunner Al Jean has commented on the long-running cartoons uncanny ability to predict global events.
Speaking exclusively to NME, the show legend who was one of the original writers on the animated sitcom in 1989, said: One of our writers, the guy whose episode predicted Donald Trump as president, said it best: If you write 700 episodes, and you dont predict anything, then youre pretty bad. If you throw enough darts, youre going to get some bullseyes
The shows most recent prediction came true earlier this year, and centred around Virgin Galactic boss Richard Branson spending time in space . In years prior, fans have commented on scenes that seemed to predict the tragic events of 9/11, Vegas entertainers Siegfried and Roy being attacked by a tiger and even the emergence of COVID-19.
The 9/11 one is so bizarre, says Jean. In the World Trade Center episode, , there was a brochure reading $9 a day with an 11 styled up like the towers. That was in 96, which was crazy, like this insane coincidence. But mostly its just educated guesses. Stanley Kubrick made the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey in 1968 and theres Zoom and iPads in it but thats because he had futurologists helping him construct what the world might look like in 30 years time.
Jean also went on to say that he wouldnt be surprised if there was another Simpsons movie at some point down the line.

Following Shocking Heat Wave Death Toll Long Wait Times For 911 Here’s What’s Changing About Emergency Care In Bc
In an update addressing recent issues involving access to emergency health care in B.C., the health minister outlined some changes the province is making that aren’t popular with everyone.
Minister Adrian Dix confirmed in more detail Friday what was already reported by CTV News in November.
The province is expanding the scope of care paramedics and others are able to provide.
“When you call 911 and it’s an emergency, you need to know that first responders can help you with every health intervention they are trained, licensed and able to deliver,” the minister said at a news conference.
He said discussions have been going on for years, and this is the culmination of those talks.
“Once the changes are implemented, paramedics and first responders will increasingly be able to help patients on scene. For paramedics, this means the ability to provide more life-saving interventions, which at various licensing levels can include needle decompression for major chest trauma to support breathing, using portable ultrasound to better assess patients and inform care decisions, enhancing airway management skills and providing life-supporting or sustaining medications during transport,” Dix listed.
Firefighters and other first responders will also see a broader scope of care, he said, including diagnostic testing, dealing with life-threatening allergic reactions and “administering care supporting the preparation and packaging of patients for transport by paramedics.”
