Using A Streaming Services Mobile App
To recap, a streaming service such as Amazon Prime, Hulu, or Netflix is a paid, online-based service that offers a vast and ever-growing library of current and past television show episodes, classic television episodes, and current and classic movies from many content providers that you can stream on a commercial-free basis to your computer, smartphone, tablet, video game system, streaming device, or Smart TV.
Many of these streaming services also produce their own original television series and movies, which are available exclusively from that service.
For the iPhone, iPad, and Android-based smartphones and tablets, each of these streaming services has its own mobile app thats available from the App Store or Google Play App Store . After you begin paying for the streaming service, which typically costs less than $10.00 per month, and set up your own account, you can stream unlimited programming using the app youve downloaded.
For more information about any of these services, and the unique collection of programming each offers, visit the following websites:

First of all, youll need to register to use any of these apps, so ensure that youre happy to provide your email address and name where necessary.
Watching TV on your phone is also quite a demanding function for your device, so youll either need a stable internet connection or a good amount of data to spare. You wont be able to just tune in like you would with a TV set.
We also advise having your battery life as high as possible – youll be sure to see it drain quickly when watching the telly.

Watch Live TV On Your Phone No Really
A while back, when I first heard about broadcasters’ plans to build their own network to deliver local and live TV to smartphones, I have to admit I chuckled a little.
The idea that broadcasters, with little to no experience in the wireless world, could accomplish such a feat seemed ludicrous. Equally laughable was the idea that people would tune into Judge Judy on their phones. With so many other stories floating around it was easy to ignore the seemingly half-baked project.
But more than two years later and at a cost of around $10 million, the broadcasters, operating under an alliance called Mobile Content Venture, are on the verge of making good on their crazy, ambitious plan.
Along the way, big-name players such as NBC and Fox have picked up a cadre of allies, including handset manufacturers Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, and regional prepaid carrier MetroPCS. Dyle will officially launch in many major markets when MetroPCS sells the first Dyle-compatible Samsung smartphone, which is expected shortly, CNET has learned. Dyle declined to comment on the specific timing of the launch.
“The big thing is, this is real,” Salil Dalvi, who in addition to running Mobile Content Venture as co-general manager also serves as senior vice president of digital distribution at NBC Universal, told CNET. “There is a real product out there.”
“The question that’s not answered is, ‘where’s the pent-up demand for this?'” said Michael McGuire, an analyst for research firm Gartner.
Get Live TV Via These Upcoming Mobile Devices
Of course, Nooney is going to be supportive, since his company offers mobile video services — both live and on-demand, and powers the services and video platform for Dyle. MetroPCS, meanwhile, is taking a flyer on something new in an effort to stand out from its rivals and reverse its slowing customer growth.
Even writing up the MetroPCS announcement, I couldn’t find time to meet with Dyle personally, having made the usual mistake of cramming too many meetings at the gigantic trade show. Doubt also lingered in my mind: how serious should I be taking this service?
Dyle a reality soonApparently, I should be taking it a bit more seriously now, hence this piece. Following the announcement of the Samsung phone at CES, LG showed off a prototype Dyle smartphone at the National Association of Broadcasters show in April. In addition to Belkin, accessory maker Elgato plans on making its own iOS dongles, with plans for an Android one coming next year.
A recent study — conducted by Research Now, but commissioned by Dyle — indicates consumers may be more interested in live TV than previously thought.
Despite its partners, MCV’s stewards acknowledge there remain a lot of challenges.
“What we’re trying to do is break a seemingly unbreakable chicken-and-an-egg problem,” Moreno said.
As a hook, Dyle will be free to anyone with a compatible phone or dongle. The venture is focusing on driving adoption, and would look to different business models if it reaches critical mass.

Expect Up To A One Minute Lag For Live TV
Only gripe, and this could obviously just be a current technological problem, rather than an issue specific to Spectrum) but when streaming live tv, the lag can be about 30 seconds to one minute late. Ive got the super bowl on tv downstairs, when I need to leave the room, the app would allow me to watch while I am in another room, however, I can hear my family clap/cheer in response to a touchdown in the other room, which I dont see happen for another minute watching through the app on my phone. I come back to the room, and i have two choices: watch it live on tv which is one minute ahead OR continue watching the app until a commercial when I can resume watching on tv without missing any plays. A small lag isnt a big deal at all, but one minute? It doesnt even take that long for tv networks to correspond and communicate to journalists internationally on a live news broadcast, and here I am in the same house on the same network? Baffling.

Watch On The Most Devices
The best TV app gives you the flexibility to watch TV on more devices than any other provider. Enjoy amazing content on your mobile devices, computer or big screen with the Bell Streamer, Google ChromecastTM, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV or AirPlay.2
A Bell Internet subscription with unlimited usage is required.
Use A Dedicated Streaming Stick
If neither of the above options works for you, its time to turn to a third-party solution. Fortunately these are neither complicated nor expensive: for around $30, you can grab a small gadget that plugs into an HDMI port on your TV and lets you stream content direct over Wi-Fi.
Weve covered some of the best streaming sticks in some detail in the past. Any of them will let you use your phone and a Wi-Fi connection to play audio or video content on a television, although they dont all do it in exactly the same way.
The Roku and sticks mainly rely on their extensive collection of streaming apps, which you select in the companion iOS or Android app. Chromecasts use the Google Home app to manage overall setup and playback, and a Cast icon appears in supported apps once youre connected to the device. From there, a single tap offloads the audio and/or video to the TV.
In either case, major streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and many others are supported on both devices. Chromecast also lets you stream web pages via the Chrome browser. If youre using an Android phone or tablet and want to stream locally-stored content from your phone to the Roku or Chromecast, an app like AllCast will let you do so.
For iPhone and iPad owners, any of these sticks are good alternatives to Apple TV if youre looking for a cheaper, smaller streaming solution. Theyve also got the advantage of being cross-platform, which is very useful if youre not an all-Apple household.

Then there’s Thunderbolt 4, which we’ve seen in some PCs of late, as well. It doesnt offer any major improvements over Thunderbolt 3 for most users, and the two protocols appear similar at first blush. Both use the USB Type-C physical connector and offer a maximum throughput of 40Gbps, so speed’s not the issue here. And both offer at least 15 watts and up to 100 watts of charging power.
The way in which Thunderbolt 4 evolves Thunderbolt is by doubling the minimum video and data requirements of Thunderbolt 3. Thunderbolt 4 will support sending a video signal to two 4K displays, or to one 8K display, while Thunderbolt 3 is required to support only a single 4K display. Also, while Thunderbolt 3 systems have to support only a 16Gbps data rate via PCI Express, Thunderbolt 4 will double that requirement to 32Gbps. This may benefit users who regularly transfer gigantic video or data files from storage drives to their PC for editing.
Whats The Difference Between Discovery And Discovery Plus
Discovery Plus is separate and different from Discovery Go, an older streaming service that requires a cable subscription login. The latter does not have the originals that are exclusive to Discovery Plus. Currently, Discovery Plus is only available in the U.S., but it will expand to other countries later this year.
