Alternative : Use Apps2fire
The Apps2Fire program is an excellent Android-based app that will allow you to send your phones or tablets apps directly to your Amazon Fire TV Stick. One significant limitation to this, however, is that the apps have to be ones that are installed and running on your Android device. This means you cannot send and install the files directly to your Fire TV Stick if its just an APK file. However, this should not be a problem, given you can always uninstall the app from your Android device once youre doing sending it over to your Fire TV.
To use this method, do the following:
- Go to your Amazon Fire TV Stick Settings
- Click on Developer options
- Click to enable Apps from Unknown Sources and ADB Debugging
- Return to Settings and go to About
- Click on Network
- Copy down your Amazon Fire TV Sticks IP Address
ADB debugging is particularly important here, as it is what allows you to connect to the Fire TV Stick over a wifi connection, and allows you to install apps directly from your Android device.
Next, do the following:
- Install Apps2Fire onto your Android device . Its important that you use the app labeled Original here. There are several clones on the Google Play Store
- Open your Apps2Fire app
- Slide the menu bar at the top until you see Setup
- Enter Setup, and then enter your Fire TV Stick IP Address where it says IP address of your FireTV
One Drawback: Shareplay’s Subscription Problem
Netflix, Spotify and YouTube are a few of the apps that won’t sync with SharePlay. Apple also notes that a subscription will be required for both parties in order to share streaming services through SharePlay. Its good to hear that youre looking into legal ways of consuming media content, and one of the best things about using services like Google Play Movies is that there are so many easy ways to watch it on your TV. There are a number of different devices that will connect directly to Google Play, but first lets start with the option thats going to work with the most devices: Chromecast.
Googles Chromecast, in case you havent heard of it, is a tiny dongle that allows you to stream content via WiFi through compatible apps on your smartphone. They retail for around $40 in Australia and setup is ridiculously simple just plug it in, connect it to the WiFi network that your phone is using and away you go! To watch your Google Play content through Chromecast, open the Play Movies app on your phone, navigate through to the content you want to watch and then press the Chromecast icon .

Dumpster Fire Of Ui And Ux
For a Google product, this app is astonishing awful. Ive used more of it recently for tv shows I love that have left Netflix and other streaming platforms. Here are the problem areas: 1) you can purchase all seasons of a series but the interface doesnt acknowledge you bought all of them and doesnt separate them out. So you have to search hundreds of episodes in a single line and the same seasons you purchased that are broken out by season ask you to purchase them again to view them in that menu. Its absurd. 2) there is no return to view or continue watching orientation in the UI except the one episode you were in anchored at the top of the experience. Once you complete that episode, you have to go back to the menu and find where you were and play the next episode. 3) the experience claims to allow binge watching but most shows do not auto play the next episode even when the feature is turned on. After each episode you have to go find your place and play the next which makes it even harder when 1) and 2) above are so poor. Honestly guys, put your celebrated design sprints in action and get the right folks from product, ux and design in a room and fix this shitshow. And maybe look at how seasons are sold and appear in the UI vs. buying each individual episode. Not rocket science here
