How To Use Apple TV Remote On An iPhone Or iPad
Once you’ve set up your Apple TV Remote app, you can control your TV from the remote control that came with the Apple TV or using the remote app on your iPhone or iPad. To get to the Apple TV Remote app:
1. Open the Control Center by swiping down from the top right of the screen.
2. Tap the Apple TV Remote button, which you’ll find in the collection of buttons at the bottom of the screen.
The remote app’s controls are fairly intuitive and, for the most part, mimic the controls on the remote control that comes with the Apple TV. Here are the most important things to keep in mind:
Setting Up Your Apple TV
Whether an Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K, getting your new Apple TV set up can be fairly simple. tvOS provides a couple of methods of setting up your new box, one that’s fairly slick and painless and one that requires you to type a lot using the Siri Remote.
With the best iPhone, you can automatically set up your Apple TV with your iPhone and home Wi-Fi network, iTunes, and iCloud accounts, and other essential settings. You’ll still have to enter some things manually, but the most important parts of your Apple TV’s setup process will be taken care of without a lot of hassle.
If you choose to manually set up your new Apple TV, you’ll need to enter everything from your iTunes account credentials to your Wi-Fi password piece by piece.
Using The New Siri Remote
It’s actually not as handy having the Siri button on the side, particularly if you’re using the remote in your right hand. But otherwise, the new layout is clear and convenient.
There’s still the Home button, but that new backwards facing arrow button, replacing the old Menu, is clearer. It’s indicating that it takes you back up through different menus and levels.
Plus, it controls your TV set. The set has to be compatible, though the only practical way to test that is to press the Power button, and see what happens. It’s also possible that you have to move HDMI ports on the television for this to work or a setting on the television itself is preventing this but we’ll leave that to you to figure out, as there are too many variables to give you a full solution here.
If it can turn the set on, it can turn the set off too. Though in this case it’s a long press on the Power button. Similarly, the remote has now gained a mute button, so no more scrabbling for the volume down when you switch from a loud streaming service like Netflix.
The old square touchpad is gone, but in its place is a circular section which has a touch pad in the center and a touch-sensitive ring around it. The idea is that you can use the ring to scroll through videos more accurately.

Use The Siri Remote To Set Up Apple TV
Use the clickpad with touch surface , or the touch surface to set up your Apple TV.
To highlight items during setup, do any of the following:

Siri Remote : Press up, down, left, or right on the clickpad ring or swipe up, down, left, or right on the clickpad.

When you already know what to watch, Siri can help with that as well. Try using commands like Watch Tenet on HBO Max or Watch The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Siri will start playing the video directly in the appropriate app. This works with some live TV services as well, including AT& T TV and Fubo, so you can go directly to specific live channels.

The Apple TV app is available on compatible Apple devices such as iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac and Apple TV 4K.

LG said the app would feature at launch for its 2020 models. In February 2020 the TV app rolled out to LG OLEDs, NanoCell TVs and selected UHD TVs. LGs 2018 models are due to get it later this year. Select Sony and VIZIO TVs are expected to receive it later this year, but no models have been specified.
Although Apple claims the TV app is everywhere, PlayStation and Xbox consoles are conspicuous by their absence. Other TVs in Panasonic, Philips and Hisense TVs arent supported either.

Content can be viewed offline with one subscription offering six simultaneous streams. The TV app also supports the resumption of content across devices. There did appear to be some issues with synchronisation of playback and the Up Next tab across multiple devices at launch, but both seem to be resolved.
For anyone who purchases a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac or iPod Touch gets a year of Apple TV Plus free, and you have three months from device activation to get it.

K Upgrade Of Older Library Titles
One feature to love about the Apple TV is the 4K upgrade on video content bought and rented via iTunes. If you have a large, pre-existing library of iTunes movies youve been buying for years, your device will automatically play them in the best image quality available. As someone who spent a ton of money on DVDsonly to spend even more switching over to BlueRaythis free upgrade is a blessing.
Even better, Apple doesnt up-charge for 4K movies. For example Mission Impossible: Fallout as a new release on Vudu costs $24.99 for the 4K edition. On iTunes, the movie can be purchased for $19.99. For digital movie collectors, this little feature in Apple TVs iTunes movies is a blessing. But keep in mind: Its only available on the Apple TV 4K.

To stop streaming, tap AirPlay in the app that you’re streaming from, then tap your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from the list.
