How Do The Sling TV Packages Compare
|NBC, NFL Network, TNT, USA||Comedy Central, FS1, Nick Jr.|
If you like what you see with Sling Blue and Sling Orange, you can opt to go for both by subscribing to Sling Orange + Blue, which combines the Orange and Blue plans. Sling Orange + Blue also joins other features. For example, Sling Blues three simultaneous screens are added to Sling Oranges one so you can watch on 4 four devices with Slings premium plan.

Is Your House Ready For Sling TV

Sling TV Plans And Sports Channels Compared
Sling TVs two starting plans, Orange and Blue, each cost $35 per month. You also have the option to sign up for both for $50 per month. Both of the main packages feature TBS, TNT, and Stadium. But Sling Orange includes ESPN and ESPN2, while Sling Blue has FOX and NBC networks, so sports fans will want to keep this in mind when deciding between the base plans. You can also try the service out with a free trial.
What Equipment Do I Need To Get Started
One of the biggest perks of cutting the cord and using a service like Sling TV is the variety of ways in which you can enjoy the content.
Not only can you move seamlessly from device to device, but you can also take your recorded content with you thanks to the portability of the cloud DVR.
You can watch Sling TV on your phone, tablet or computer. In fact, Sling is planning to launch a new app in 2021.
But many of us still like to enjoy entertainment on a television from the comfort of our couches. Sling TV has you covered in that area, too. Most of the most popular streaming devices, including Roku and Amazon Fire TV, are compatible.
The streaming services list of supported devices for TV includes:
- TiVo Stream 4K
- Xbox One and Xbox Series X
This is probably a good time to mention that Sling likes to run promotions for new customers that sometimes can net you a free streaming device for your television.
For example, heres a limited-time promotion offered recently to new users willing to prepay for two months of service:
One final thing to consider in the equipment arena is how important local channels are to you.
If you need to see all of them as a Sling subscriber, you may also need to invest in an antenna to account for the channels that Sling does not provide. Remember, Sling provides access only to select NBC and FOX affiliates on some of its packages.

Showtime On Prime Video
Amazon Prime Video is one of the most popular streaming services available, in large part because it comes complimentary with every Prime membership. If youre addicted to 2-day shipping and binging TV shows, its one of the best-streaming destinations. There are plenty of exclusives that make having access to the library worth having, including Good Omens, The Man in the High Castle, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Transparent, and The Tick. Best of all, if youre a student, you can get six months free before you commit for the rest of the year.
If you want Showtime and already have Prime, the news is good: that will cost you only $8.99 a month. Where Amazon Prime has the leg up on Hulu is its channels interface. Amazons menus are simple and clear, which is why we prefer them. Your normal videos are listed in the main menu of Prime, with your extra subscriptions like Showtime or Shudder stored in the clearly marked Your Channels tab.
Is Sling TV Good For Watching Local TV
All things considered, Sling TV isnt the best streaming service for mega local TV fans. Its lack of nationwide coverage and small selection of channels mean plenty of people will miss out on popular networks, especially when it comes to sports. But if your area is covered by Sling TVs current list, then the service is definitely a competitively priced way to stream local TV helpful if youre looking to save for a house and dont want to splash unnecessary cash.
Plus, there are ways to increase the number of channels available without having to sign up for a separate service. For example, if you choose to take advantage of an AirTV bundle, youll be able to integrate the devices local channel feeds into your existing Sling TV guide. Unfortunately, that does tend to mean shelling out more money up front and comes with the hassle of having to set up antennas and boxes.
If youre not sure whether the service is right for you, head to Sling TVs site and search Sling TVs local channels by ZIP code to see a full list of available local TV in your area. Happy with what you see? Instead of a free trial, Sling TV offers all new subscribers $10 off their first month. So sign up to enjoy a discounted rate, and dont forget to check out our full Sling TV review.

Sling TV: Everything You Need To Know
If youre looking to ditch cable but want to hang onto some of your favorite local TV channels and premium networks, Sling TV sounds like a good option for you. Only requiring an internet connection to operate, Sling TV keeps you connected to your must-have channels without the need of a monthly cable subscription.
Known for its inexpensive set of basic subscription options, Slings reputation as a trailblazer has since been overshadowed by a deluge of competition. But even with recent price increases that have brought it within $15 per month of some of these expensive options, Sling TV remains one of the best values for cord-cutters. To help simplify everything Sling has to offer, we put together a comprehensive, hands-on evaluation so you can see if its right for you. From packages to features to add-ons, heres your guide to Sling TV.
Which Service Has Better Prices
Hulu + Live TV is $64.99 per month and a subscription includes access to both Hulus live TV channels and its on-demand library of cable shows, originals, and movies. With this plan, you will need to deal with commercials when you stream on-demand content. You can upgrade to the $70.99-per-month Hulu + Live TV plan to watch Hulus on-demand content without ad interruptions .
Slings Blue and Orange plans each cost $30 per month. You can get both plans for a combined $45 per month, a price that is still significantly cheaper than Hulu + Live TV. Sling often bundles streaming hardware, such as the AirTV mini, AirTV 2, and indoor HD tuners, at a discounted price so long as you prepay for a few months. For example, if you prepay for three months of Sling, you can currently get all three of these devices for an additional $99. If you prepay for two months, you can get the AirTV mini for free.

Does Sling TV Include Dvr
Sling TV does offer cloud DVR functionality with all three of its base packages. Each comes with 50 hours of storage.
You can pay an additional $5 per month to upgrade to 200 hours of storage.
The amount of storage is nowhere near the unlimited allotment given to YouTube TV subscribers, but it still is a marked improvement from the 10 hours that Sling TV provided before its latest upgrade.
The functionality of Slings cloud DVR is good. You can record multiple shows, movies or sporting events at the same time. And, unlike Hulu + Live TV, youre able to fast forward right through the ads in the content youve saved on the DVR.
Whose Streaming Experience And Dvr Is Better
Hulu + Live TV supports 1080p streaming at 60 frames per second on the Apple TV , Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, select Samsung TV models, and the Xbox One. I reached out to my Sling TV representative for clarification on the streaming resolution of live content and will update this section with the company’s response.
Hulus live TV content supports 2.0 stereo audio, but select on-demand programming is available in 5.1 Surround Sound. Sling TVs support for higher-end audio is similar. Live TV streams are available in standard stereo audio, but some on-demand content supports 5.1 Surround Sound audio.
Hulu + Live TV supports two simultaneous streams, which falls short of Sling TVs support for a category-leading four simultaneous streams. If you opt for Hulus $9.99-per-month Unlimited Screens add-ons, you can stream on an unlimited number of devices at home simultaneously and from up to three devices at the same time everywhere else.

Slingtv: Get A Month Of Showtime For Free When You Sign Up For Sling
SlingTV is one of our favorite streaming services for live TV because it’s such a bang for your buck. Its models offer an assortment of between 32 to 50 live channels for as low as $35 per month. Its usual first-month-for-$10 deal currently offers a free month of Showtime. If you’re already considering ditching cable for a live TV service, this may be the smartest way to catch New Blood.
Can You Watch Pbs On Sling TV
No, you cant watch PBS on Sling TV at this time. As a matter of fact, most of the major live streaming services do not carry PBS. One of the few exceptions is YouTube TV from $64.99 per month.
If you want to watch PBS without an antenna or cable, your best bet is to download the PBS Video App on your device to access their content.

Hulu Is Better Overall Sling TV Offers More Add
Cord cutters must consider which aspects of live TV streaming services are most important to them before making a decision. For most people, Hulu + Live TV is a better option than Sling TV because of its superior channel lineup, technical capabilities, and on-demand library. Although Sling TV beats Hulu on price and offers more channel add-ons, the costs of those extras add up quickly and could potentially eat away at Sling’s pricing advantage.
If you are determined to save as much money as possible, Slings Blue or Orange plans might be a better option, though you have to be careful to check that your plan of choice has all the channels you want to watch. Philo and Locast are other cheap live TV options. If money is less of an object, check out our comparison between Hulu and YouTube TV.

How Do Sling TV Plans Compare To Fubotv
While Sling TV wows with its trio of affordable subscription plans, a FuboTV entry-level subscription is almost twice the price at $64.99. But for that you get a channel line-up nearly three times bigger, and which also exceeds Hulu and YouTube TVs offerings.
The Starter plan provides three streams and a comprehensive selection of over 110 channels, including news, sports, entertainment, and lifestyle coverage, from Fox, BBC World News, ESPN, MTV, AMC, and Logo. Pay $79.99 for its Elite offering and bump the number of channels up to over 150, plus you can share your account with 10 people. Of course, being a sports first platform, youll get immense coverage of live matches too via networks like the NFL, NBCSN, FS1 and the Big Ten Network.
Sling TV doesnt have that level of scope. But you can get a lot for very little if you pick carefully. For instance, a Total TV deal for $21 will bring you oodles more sport, comedy, and general entertainment. When combined with a Sing Blue plan, that means you can enjoy approximately 114 channels for just $56.

What Channels Does Sling TV Have
Sling Orange has over 30 channels, whereas Sling Blue provides upwards of 50. Aside from the difference in the number of channels, the greatest distinction between the Sling TV packages are the Disney-owned networks that come with Sling Orange.
Of the 30 channels on Sling Orange, youll get live national networks such as A& E, AMC, IFC, Cartoon Network, CNN, Investigation Discovery, Newsy, the History Channel, and more.
Sling Blue carries a few more news options like BBC America, FOX News, MSNBC, and Vice. Even though Sling Blue doesnt carry ESPN, youll still be able to tune into sports action with FOX, FS1, NBC, NFL Network, and TNT. And as far as entertainment, youll be able to surf between BET, FX, truTV, and Paramount Network, and more.
What sets Sling TV channels apart? Some of the standouts include ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, NFL, and Disney. But there are also noteworthy local channels available in select markets, like FOX, UniMás, and NBC. Check out this article for more information on navigating Sling TVs local channels.
A minor drawback of Sling TV is that even though the Orange package offers some great channels, only one stream is permitted at a time. With Sling Blue, you can watch up to three streams simultaneously but that is far less than some competitors, like AT& T TV. AT& T TV allows for up to 20 simultaneous streams while at home and up to three when outside the home.
Amazon Prime Video + Showtime Add
The Showtime Prime Video add-on costs the same as the standalone Showtime service: $10.99/mo. But youll need an Amazon Prime membership to watch it using Amazons platform. Thatll cost an additional $12.99/mo. or $119/yr. Once youre a fully-fledged Prime member, you and your online purchases can enjoy free two-day shipping. You can also watch Prime originals on-demand and add over 100 other premium networks via Prime Video Channels. The list includes HBO, PBS and Starz, and each network comes with a separate monthly fee.
Of course, if youre already a Prime member, you dont need to do much. Simply head to the Channels category on Amazon and select Showtime. Prime Video is available on a vast number of devices: Amazon Fire models, Android and iOS devices, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, certain smart TVs and game consoles like PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
