  • Hook one end of the HMDI cable into your TV and hook the other end into your type-C HDMI adapter.
  • Next, plug the power supply into the adapter then plug it into the power outlet to start charging your device. At this point, if you have anything to plug into the USB port next to the two cableslets say you have a Charge Pro controller or anythingyou can do so to maximize your gameplay.
  • Place your Nintendo Switch on the stand and make sure that the charging port is accessible from below.
  • Next, run the cable from the adapter through the bottom of the stand and plug it into your Switch.
  • After that, turn on your television, search for the correct HMDI output, and then you can start playing. Do note that once youve connected all the necessary cables, Switch doesnt automatically activate the TV Mode. Youll have to manually power on your television and look for the HMDI output.
  • How To Connect Nintendo Switch To A TV Without The Dock

Clearly, you need a USB-C to HDMI adapter to connect your Nintendo Switch to a TV without the dock.

To try this out, I ordered a standard USB-C to HDMI adapter from Amazon. It has three inputs, just like the back of the Switch’s dock, and a single USB-C output.

To connect your Nintendo Switch to your HDTV without using the dock:

  • Disconnect the USB-C and HDMI cables from the back of the dock
  • Mount the Switch on a stand or lay it flat on a table near the TV
  • Connect the USB-C power cable and HDMI cable to the USB-C to HDMI adapter
  • Now connect the adapter to the Nintendo Switch
  • Select the correct channel on your TV
  • Start playing games
  • You can use the Joy-Cons individually, connected to the Joy-Con Grip, or a Switch Pro Controller, whatever. There should be absolutely no difference to the experience, other than the absence of the Nintendo Switch dock.

As you can see, this is a relatively straightforward process. However, it won’t work with all USB-C to HDMI adapters. You need to make sure you have an adapter that is compatible with the Nintendo Switch.

Make Your Controller Battery Last Longer

This TV Has Transformed Into A Giant Nintendo Switch ...

Theres nothing more annoying than losing a multi-player game because your controller is out of battery. According to Nintendo, theyre supposed to last for up to 20 hours on a full charge. However, many of us regularly forget to charge them, especially when theyre extra controllers that are not regularly connected to our handheld Switch.

To make your battery last longer, you can opt to turn off vibrations. Go to System settings > controllers and sensors. Under Controller vibration, select Off. Aside from a slight improvement to battery life, it can also be helpful for players who find them uncomfortable.

Switch controllers use Li-ion batteries that prevent overcharging. In fact, these types of batteries stop working when left uncharged for too long.

Nintendo Switch Parental Controls & Family Set Up

Parents, if you’re buying a Switch for your little ones and you have concerns about the content they’ll access, do know that there are powerful parental control options available to you. By the end of it, you’ll have full control over what your kids can download, see, and play, as well as how long they can play on any given day. Plus, you’ll be able to control it all from your phone.

First off, you’ll need to create a Nintendo Account for your child. The process is slightly different from if you were setting one up for yourself or another adult. Once that’s done, it will be time to set up Parental Controls on Nintendo Switch. This will make it so your child cannot access certain content or view certain videos. You can also make it so they cannot purchase anything without your password. You also get to determine how long they’re allowed to play each day. If you need to, you can also lock the Switch so it’s inaccessible for a specified or indefinite amount of time. Once everything is in place, you’ll be able to view parental control settings and child activity from your phone.

We can help you understand the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app, if you’d like. After all, it’s there that you can determine whether or not to whitelist Nintendo Switch games via Parental Controls.

    How Powerful Is Nintendo Switch

For a portable machine, the Nintendo Switch is incredibly powerful, boasting about 3-4 times the grunt of the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Docked, its GPU speed hits 768 MHz, just shy of the 800 MHz of the base PS4. It has 4GB of RAM, half that of the PS4 and PS4 Pro, and it outputs a 1080p image in docked mode and hits 720p in portable/tablet mode.

Because of the small form factor, you get 32GB of flash storage built in. If you need more room, no worries. You can always get a seperate microSD card to make more room.

One small point: the Switch doesnt have a port for an ethernet cable, so youll need access to WiFi to get on the internet.

How To Connect A Switch To A TV

There are a few things that a Nintendo Switch box will come with, and that’s a dock, an AC adapter, and an HDMI cable, among a few other things. The most important thing that people will need to connect a Switch to a TV is the dock itself. Pop open the back of the Switch dock, and there will be three spots for different plugs.

The top port is for the AC Adaptor, which brings power to the dock. The USB cable is for accessories, and the HDMI port will connect the dock to a television. Switch owners should plug in the AC adaptor and HDMI cable into the back of the dock. From there, plug the AC adaptor into a wall outlet, and plug the other end of the HDMI cable into one of the HDMI ports on the television . Just make sure to remember the number of the port on the TV. The input channel on the TV will need to be changed to match the port that the HDMI cable is inserted into.

From there, carefully slide the Nintendo Switch system into the dock. The Joy-Con can be on or off, but you’ll need a way to play the Switch on the TV, so it might be best to remove them first or use a Pro Controller.

To turn the Switch on while it’s in the dock, players can press the Home button on the right Joy-Con, or press the power button located on the top-left corner of the Switch console, just left of the volume control buttons.

The Dock Isnt Getting Enough Power

If youve eliminated the possibility of a loose HMDI cable, another reason to consider might be that the dock has not enough power as it should get. If this is the case, try to plug the device solely to a power outlet. Other appliances might be getting more substantial power, leaving the dock unable to operate since its not getting a decent amount of power to function correctly.
