Tucker Carlson: What is going on here? #shorts

To hear more audio stories from publications like The New York Times, .

Tucker Carlson had a problem.

After years in the cable wilderness, he had made a triumphant return to prime time. And his new show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, had leapfrogged to the heart of Fox Newss evening lineup just months after Donald J. Trumps upset victory shattered the boundaries of conventional politics.

But as Mr. Trump thrashed through his first months in office, Mr. Carlson found himself with an unexpected programming challenge: Fox was too pro-Trump. The new president watched his favorite network religiously, and often tweeted about what he saw there, while Fox broadcasts reliably parroted White House messaging. No one was more on message than Sean Hannity, then Foxs highest-rated star, who frequently devoted his show to Mr. Trumps daily battles with Washington Democrats and the media.

Newly planted in Foxs newly vacated 8 p.m. time slot previously held by the disgraced star Bill OReilly Mr. Carlson told friends and co-workers that he needed to find a way to reach the Trump faithful, but without imitating Mr. Hannity. He didnt want to get sucked into apologizing for Mr. Trump every day, he told one colleague, because the fickle, undisciplined new president would constantly need apologizing for.

Now, do I believe that Tucker Carlson believes the things he says? he added. I do not. I think he is a phony in every respect. I think hes an algorithm. I think his audience created him. I think he started out as a fairly down-the-middle, political broadcaster in a cute little bow tie with polka dots on it.

Kimmel was similarly asked about Spotify podcast host Joe Rogan, who replaced Kimmel as co-host of Comedy Centrals The Man Show and has been criticized for having guests who advocated anti-vax conspiracy theories.

I dont necessarily think that anybody should be shut up, Kimmel said. I wish people would pay attention to the facts and I wish people were just consistent. I dont know at all. I have met himand I think hes a funny guy. And I think that probably most of what he says is entertaining and fun to listen to. I know people who trust what he says, and I personally know people who have put themselves in danger because he minimized the importance of vaccines. But I also know that its not as black and white as sometimes the media makes it out to be.

And finally, on the subject of former President Trump, the host said he would actually like to have his frequent comedy target on his ABC late-night show as a guest.

Tucker Carlson Admits He Lies On His Show: I Really Try Not To I Certainly Do

Tucker Carlson admitted during a recent interview with conservative talk show host Dave Rubin that he sometimes lies on his show.

The Fox News host appeared on a programme hosted by Mr Rubin on Sunday and was asked to explain why, supposedly, other TV network anchors lie.

Carlson responded: I mean, I lie if Im really cornered or something. I lie.

He added: I really try not to. I try never to lie on TV. I just dont â I dont like lying I certainly do it, you know, out of weakness or whatever.

The 52-year-old host claimed that his rivals at competing cable networks like CNN systematically and deliberately lie to protect the system.

He added: So if these people ask themselves why am I doing this? And they say, well, I want to protect the system because I really believe in the system. OK, whos running the system? Youre lying to defend Jeff Bezos? Like, youre treating Bill Gates like some sort of moral leader, like, are you kidding me? How dare you do that?

Rubin, the host of the YouTube show The Rubin Report, had asked Carlson how CNN employees like Chris Cuomo and Brian Stelter live with themselves…when they just lie again and again and we have the internet to expose the lies.

Tucker Carlson admits that he lies when feeling weak or cornered. Continues by saying that some people systematically lie because they believe in the agenda.

Do not believe propaganda. They tell you lies here! These words appeared on a sign held up by a brave employee of one of Russias major state television networks during a live broadcast Monday in protest of Russias attack of Ukraine.

Its a stunning contrast to Tucker Carlsons Fox News show, where he has amplified the Kremlins lies in support of its barbaric war against Ukraine.

Republican strategist Ana Navarro while co-hosting The View on Monday suggested that the Department of Justice should investigate whether Carlson is a foreign asset who is shilling for Putin. While we can debate whether he is or isnt, one thing is clear: Carlson is not on the side of democracy over autocracy.

This is not rocket science. We all understand that Russian leader Vladimir Putins goal is to end the fledgling democracy of Ukraine and install a pro-Putin figure head to do his bidding. In fact, we have already seen an example of this in Melitopol, a city in southeastern Ukraine, where Russian forces arrested the elected mayor Ivan Fedorov on Friday and installed a new mayor.

And Carlson wasnt done.

From ‘escalation In Nightly Rhetoric’ To ‘active Measures’

“This particular entreaty to call organizations when people spot kids wearing masks appears to be something of an escalation in his nightly rhetoric,” Erik Wemple, a longtime Fox observer and columnist for the Washington Post, told Insider in an email.

“In the past, Carlson has been generous with emotional directives telling people they should be afraid, they should be mad, they should be outraged about this-or-that development in the public sphere,” Wemple continued. “But specific calls to ring up the authorities for things that are clearly legal? I don’t recall a lot of that activity.”

Fox News lawyers have previously argued that no “reasonable viewer” would ever take Carlson seriously because he is offering entertainment by delivering opinions “using hyperbole for effect.”

While that argument was delivered in a courtroom during a defamation case, the practical implications of Carlson telling three to four million live viewers to go call the cops on people are serious, according to Asha Rangappa, a Yale Law School lecturer and former dean.

“And I think that this should be very troubling,” she continued. “When foreign countries do it to us, we call it ‘active measures.'”

No matter the initial reactions to all of his past controversies, Carlson has been able to distance himself from any real world consequences tied to his show, even as advertisers head for the exits.

Gop Struggles To Find Right Message On Russia As Trump Calls Putin Smart

Carlson and his ideological allies, like Steve Bannon and Donald Trump, see in Putin someone with a shared worldview authoritarian, fiercely nationalistic, happily bigoted. They see themselves as part of a shared ideological project and we can see in Hungarys emergence as a politico-intellectual hot spot for Western white nationalists how pockets of reactionary politics in non-Western Europe provide fertile territory for this set to think and organize. We wouldnt describe Carlsons affection for Hungarys authoritarian leader, Viktor Orbán, as being traitorous, but rather as an expression of international solidarity with extreme right-wing elements abroad.

The counterargument to what Im saying is that Carlson meets the threshold for traitor status because Russia is an adversary of the U.S. and has recently sought to undermine the American political system and sabotage U.S. foreign policy goals Hungary cant do damage to the U.S., but Russia can, and Carlsons dovishness is a boon to Moscow. The issue is that Carlson isnt advancing arguments against American self-defense in these broadcasts for which hes being called a traitor an attack on Ukraine, a non-NATO country that borders Russia, isnt an attack on the U.S. And as a leftist skeptical of the U.S.s ability to wage wars morally or intelligently I share concerns about the U.S. escalating recklessly, as horrific as Russia’s actions are.

Tucker Carlson: They don’t care about you at all

Tucker Carlson, who is the host of Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News, announced Monday evening that he won’t be returning till next week, saying that he would be taking a long-planned vacation, according to The New York Times.

The vacation has been planned in advanced. Carlson said on his show he will be trout fishing.

This announcement comes just days after Carlsons top writer, Blake Neff, resigned. Since 2017, Neff had been writing for Tucker Carlson Tonight. He resigned after a series of racist, sexist and vulgar comments that he had posted under a pseudonym on an online message board became public on Friday, CNN reported.

Fox News found out about the comments, and that Neff had been writing them for over five years, calling it abhorrent conduct and saying we swiftly accepted his resignation, according to ABC News.

Carlson commented on the incident on his show Monday night saying:

However, this is not the first time that Carlson or other Fox News hosts have taken a break from their show after a controversial issues. Back in August 2019, Carlson took a vacation just two days after saying white supremacy is a hoax and that its actually not a real problem in America, according to The New York Times.

Abortion And Death Penalty

Carlson opposes abortion and has said it is the only political issue he considers non-negotiable.

Carlson wrote in 2000 that capital punishment “deserves more vigorous debate”, and in 2003 told Salon, “I’m opposed to the death penalty as I am adamantly opposed to abortion”. After saying on Fox News in 2010 that Michael Vick “should have been executed” for dog fighting, Carlson stated that he is “not comfortable with the death penalty under any circumstances”.

6,446,496. That was the tally at World-O-Meter early on 11 August 2022. 6,446,496 lives lost, thanks to the concerted efforts of Francis Collins, Peter Daszak, Anthony Fauci, Bill Gates, and innumerable others who turned the Covid pandemic into a global disaster that almost eclipsed the Holocaust .

And whilst the perpetrators of the earlier Holocaust – the ‘Final Solution’ – were brought to trial in Nuremberg, the mega-rich psychopaths behind the Covid pandemic continue to rake in billions of big bucks. No investigations, no International Criminal Court – they’re still scot-free.

Gilead Sciences took in seventy billion in pure profit for 2020-2021. And they’re not even one of the big-time vaccine dealers. Research and development? Paid for by the US taxpayer, as always. Marketing costs? Not a penny. The products were already sold.

Here’s Steve Kirsch. Initially he was to be on Tucker a day earlier. Then word reached Fox that the FBI were swooping down on Mar-A-Lago. So instead he appeared the evening after, 10 August.

What’s the most important thing in this short segment? That depends on who you ask. Part of the hook was partisan politics – the fact that Steve Kirsch used to be a mega-donor to the Democratic Party. Except he is no longer. And he explains what’s changed.

Here’s Steve’s brief appearance last night on Tucker Carlson Tonight. Start at 26:20 if the player doesnt for you.

Dnc Official Asks Fox News Anchor Why Tucker Carlson Is Allowed On Air

Democratic National Committee Vice Chairman Michael Blake went head-to-head with Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer Tuesday, pressing Hemmer on why the network continues to employ host Tucker Carlson.

Carlson on Monday speculated that former President Obama has not endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden in the 2020 Democratic primary because Michelle Obama may still enter the 2020 race.

The Democratic Party is ripping itself apart over race and gender and class. Michelle Obama, lets be honest, is one of the only people who could unite the partys warring factions, Carlson said on his show Monday night.

When Blake appeared on Fox News to discuss Obama and the slate of 2020 Democratic candidates, he responded, Well, shes not running, but the core question is, why the hell does Tucker Carlson still have a job here in the first place? The reality is, this is someone who said white supremacy is a hoax, and why does Fox allow him to still be here in the first place?

He shouldnt be on here at all Blake added.

Hemmer told the New York congressional candidate, We didnt bring you on to talk about Tucker Carlson. I brought you on to talk about the Democratic field.

DNC vice chair MICHAEL BLAKE: Why the hell does Tucker Carlson still have a job here The reality is this is someone who said white supremacy is a hoax and why does Fox allow him to still be here in the first place?

HEMMER: We didnt bring you on to talk about Tucker Carlson.

Early Life And Education

Fox Newsâs Tucker Carlson tells viewers to âignoreâ TV medical advice ...

Carlson was born Tucker McNear Carlson in the Mission District of San Francisco, California, on May 16, 1969. He is the elder son of artist and San Francisco native Lisa McNear and , a former “gonzo reporter” who became the director of Voice of America, president of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the U.S. ambassador to the Seychelles. Carlson’s brother, Buckley Peck Carlson, later Buckley Swanson Peck Carlson, is nearly two years younger and has worked as a communications manager and Republican political operative.

In 1976, Carlson’s parents divorced after the nine-year marriage reportedly “turned sour”. Carlson’s father was granted custody of Tucker and his brother. Carlson’s mother left the family when he was six, wanting to pursue a “bohemian” lifestyle.

When Carlson was in first grade, his father moved Tucker and his brother to the La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego, California, and raised them there. Carlson attended La Jolla Country Day School and grew up in a home overlooking the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. His father owned property in Nevada, Vermont, and islands in Maine and . Opiniontalk Radio’s Covid Death Trend Is A Macabre Metastasization Of Far

While these competitors are no match for Fox individually, the network would be foolish to ignore them. Many are growing fast and are offering conservative and Republican viewers the content they want in 2021: the reddest of meat, and lots of it.

In the wake of the 2020 election, and Trumps fury toward Fox News for correctly calling Arizona for Joe Biden on election night, Newsmax and OAN saw their viewerships spike as they continued to cast doubt on the election outcome for months after all mainstream outlets and even Fox had called the race. The viewership spikes directly owed to trafficking in these conspiracy theories.

A late October Politico/Morning Consult poll indicated that a full 3 in 5 Republicans think the election should definitely or probably be overturned. A March Reuters/Ipsos poll similarly showed that roughly half of Republicans thought the people gathered at the Capitol on Jan. 6 were mostly peaceful, law-abiding Americans and that the insurrection was led by violent left-wing protestors trying to make Trump look bad. As conservative outlets and hosts, including those on Fox, continue to stoke these conspiracy theories, it helps promote and reinforce such views, making the demand for such content that much more intense.

At one time, Fox News promoting and affirming these kinds of antidemocratic views mightve come at too steep a cost. But not in 2021.
