Most recently, support for Apple AirPlay 2 is being added to several new TVs from LG, Samsung, Sony, and Vizio. This lets you use your iPhone or iPad to stream content from iTunes to the TV. Apple is also releasing the Apple TV app with its Apple TV+ service on many smart TV platforms. This means you can watch Apple video content on nearly any TV without needing an Apple TV 4K, which was previously necessary.
4K content is now freely available on many streaming services and on Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, even if it hasn’t been adopted by broadcast or cable TV services yet. If you have a very fast internet connection, you can watch some excellent shows on Amazon and Netflix in 4K . New films are also coming out digitally in 4K through various on-demand streaming services like Vudu.
Ultra HD Blu-ray discs are a relatively new physical media format similar to Blu-ray discs. Don’t expect to play them on your current Blu-ray player, though you need a dedicated Ultra HD Blu-ray player, a Microsoft Xbox Series X, or a Sony PlayStation 5 to handle the format. A smart 4K TV from whichever brand is the requirement of the modern age. It features internet connectivity, voice commands, and user-friendly software. Furthermore, smart TVs support a range of apps and streaming options that enhance the visual entertainment experience. A faster refresh rate enables gameplay and connectivity to other smart apps and allows multimedia transfer as well as connectivity to digital home hubs.
4K refers to the resolution of the smart TV. There are various resolutions available for smart TVs, the most common of which is the 1080p. But, the 4K resolution surpasses the 1080p HD image resolution by four times. The standard resolution of a 4K TV is 3840 x 2160 pixels. The higher resolution means better image quality, crisper details, and vibrancy of image colors. 4K TVs have either of the two refresh rates, i.e., 60Hz and 120Hz. Is A ‘good Enough’ Picture Good Enough For You
As I mentioned at the start, don’t expect any of these TCLs to perform like champs, but do expect to feel satisfied for the price.
For this review I compared the 2019 TCL 50S425 and 43S325 side by side with two 2017 TCL 4-Series sets — the 55S405 and the 43S305 — as well as with the 65-inch Vizio E-Series. I didn’t put them through my usual TV review process and measurements, but I did some basic measurements, and saw enough to convince me the TCLs are still “good enough.” None was as good as the Vizio, however.
Comparing black levels in the dark parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 and Black Panther, the Vizio showed a clear advantage, with deeper, more realistic letterbox bars and shadows. The difference was also obvious in brighter scenes, where the improved contrast of the letterbox bars and richer colors paid dividends and the Vizio showed much superior pop.
Between the two larger TCLs, the newer, 50-inch version looked better, with deeper black levels and more saturated, accurate color. The difference wasn’t overwhelming, however, and the Vizio still looked quite a bit better than the 50-inch TCL. There was little visible difference between the two 43-inch TCL models.
What Is Hdr Ultra Hd Here’s How To Make The Picture Pop
Despite the marketing buzz, 4K isn’t actually the most exciting advancement in TVs. High dynamic range, or HDR, is arguably the bigger upgrade, allowing for a bigger difference between the dark and bright parts of a scene. Coupled with the ability to produce more vivid colors, this produces a more detailed, punchy image that really stands out. HDR formats like Dolby Vision push this even further, and are available through streaming services like Netflix and on Ultra HD Blu-rays.

There are also much brighter TVs out there than this one.

Prices vary quite radically between sellers, and it also depends on the age and specs of an individual model. What Screen Size Should I Get
A big TV that’s too close can be just as uncomfortable to watch as a small one that’s too far away, so don’t assume that the biggest screen available is the best choice. There are a few different rules of thumb regarding TV screen size based on your distance from it.
Generally, the distance of your couch to your TV should be between 1.2 and 1.6 times the diagonal measurement of your screen. So if your couch is six feet away from your screen, you can comfortably watch a TV between 42 and 60 inches. If your couch is five feet away, a 37- to 52-inch screen should work well.
