THE HANDMAID’S TALE Season 4 Trailer (NEW 2020) TV Show HD

Channel 4

Its not yet confirmed which of the original cast will return, but it seems likely that well see central cast members reprise their roles including Elisabeth Moss as June.

Although she suffered a potentially lethal wound during the season three finale, the trailer for season four reveals that June is in fact alive and ready to continue her mission of rescuing the children of Gilead.

Jospeh Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel, Max Minghella, O-T Fagbenle, Amanda Brugel and Bradley Whitford are to set to return as well as Ann Dowd who plays a terrifying Aunt Lydia.

We also have a brand new recurring cast member: McKenna Grace as Mrs. Keyes, the intelligent teenage wife of a much older Commander, according to Deadline, who uses her calm and pious exterior to mask turmoil, even insanity, on the inside.

The Handmaids Tale viewers will be familiar with the majority of the characters in season four, as Elisabeth returns to play June, with Joseph reprising his role as Fred, Yvonne as Serena, OT as Luke, Max Minghella as Nick Blaine and Samira Wiley as Moira Strand.

There will also be several new characters introduced in the series as new actors join the cast.

Among them is Fresh Meat star Zawe Ashton, who is playing an aid worker in Toronto called Oona.

Mckenna Grace, who has starred in films and TV shows including I, Tonya, Captain Marvel and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, will also make her debut, with the 14-year-old playing a Commanders wife called Esther Keyes.

Jeananne Goossen will play an Aunt called Aunt Ruth, while Laura Vandervoot will portray Daisy, a woman who works at a Jezebels.

Also joining the cast is Alex Castillo as the Waterfords defense attorney Dawn Mathis, Reed Birney as Gilead officer Lieutenant Stans, Omar Maskati as a resistance leader called Steven and Carly Street as a former Aunt.

Season 5 May Not Be The Last

Showrunner Bruce Miller hasnt decided how far into the future The Handmaids Tale will run. He told THR in December 2020 that he had very different ideas about the shows timeline before the pandemic but has since changed his mind. I do feel like after this year, its a good time to reassess, he said. So I know where I am in the story, and I do feel like were kind of reaching kind of a pivot point, but whether thats the end or not, I dont know. It just feels like its a good time to reassess what you were thinking, just because the story world has opened up because the real world has changed so much.

Then, during a panel in February 2021, Miller said that he would continue as long as his star actress, Moss, was involved. Every time I come upon a season, I dont know what were going to do, he said. And every time we get to the end, Im thrilled and feel like we could go on forever and ever. Im so excited by how crazy the story is. As long as Lizzie will do this with me, Ill keep going. He later clarified to THR, saying, When I said that Ill do the show as long as Lizzie wants to do it, that is born of the pandemic and born of the work shes done this year. She deserves to have me there writing for her as long as she wants. She earned that this year. I will write beautiful words for her to say for as long as she wants to say them.

What Has Margaret Atwood Said About Her Book And TV Adaptation

Speaking in 2018, Atwood admitted she had no control over the TV adaptation of her novel.

She said: “I think I would have to be awfully stupid to resent it because things could have been so much worse.

“They have done a tippity-top job the acting is great, theyve stuck to the central set of premises.

“It’s a television series. If youre going to have a series you cant kill off the central character and you also cant have the central character escape to safety in episode one of season two. Its not going to happen.

“None of this was in any way under my control. Even if I had thrown a tantrum and said you cant do this, that would have had no legal standing.”

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 Release Date Rumors

14 Popular TV Series Renewed For A New Season

Hulu has not set a release date for The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 yet.

The streaming service renewed the drama for season 5 in December 2020. The announcement was made during the Disney Investor Day presentation months before season 4 even premiered.

As for when The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 might be released, we can make an educated guess. The first three seasons of the show were released a year apart April 2017, April 2018 and June 2019. Season 4 was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, like so many other TV and film productions, and didn’t premiere until April 2021.

Productions are back underway, though filming has been slowed by the need to adhere to health and safety protocols. Still, it’s possible that the show could follow the before-times schedule and return in April 2022.

Which Parts Of The Handmaids Tale Come From The Bible

Two aspects of the show come from the Bible, one of which is the concept of using ‘handmaids’ to battle infertility.

In The Handmaids Tale, women are raped by high-ranking men and forced to have their children.

The children are then raised by the men and their wives.

The handmaids are trained at The Red Centre in the show, but it’s known as The Rachel and Leah Centre in the book.

That’s a reference to a story in the Old Testament, where Rachel ‘offered’ her handmaid Bilhah to her husband Jacob.

Bilhah gave birth to two sons in the story, both of whom were named after Rachel.

Additionally, the group that overthrew the US government in The Handmaid’s Tale are known as the Sons of Jacob – another nod to the biblical tale.

The other references to the Bible in the show are the everyday greetings the handmaids use, such as ‘blessed be the fruit’ and ‘may the Lord open’.

The Handmaid’s Tale: Hulu Release Gripping Season Four Trailer

The show was delayed further following production being shut down after the outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19.

This was announced by star Elisabeth Moss on Instagram on March 16, 2020.

In a post, she wrote: “We shut down production of season four in order to preserve the health and safety of our cast and crew and join the world in an attempt to flatten the curve.

“This show is my life and this cast and crew is my family. Nothing is more important than making sure they and everyone around them is safe.

“We hope to be back in production as soon as its safe to do so. In the meantime stay safe and healthy and take care of yourselves. So much love from our family to yours.”

An update came in December 2020 from showrunner Bruce Miller.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: “We’re still shooting, kind of in the middle of the season.

“We planned out the whole season, started filming, and then had to stop everything from locations, to number of people in scenes, to travelling actors, all that stuff had a huge impact on our story, just because it has to, and honestly, we’re in a situation where we have to make do with what we can get our hands on.

“In the end, it was surmountable, and I think we’re making an excellent show, and I’m really proud of what we’re doing, but it was hard, and it continues to be hard.”

The Handmaid’s Tale is based on the dystopian novel of the same name by author Margaret Atwood. The series follows the journey of Offred, real name June Osborne, as she rebels against the Gilead Government, helping the revolution grow stronger in fighting against its laws. Fans have been excited to find out what happens next ever since the third series ended in summer 2020.

How Did The Salem Witch Trials Inspire The Story

The Handmaids Tale Wallpaper, HD TV Series 4K Wallpapers ...

Atwood has revealed the book was inspired by the Salem witch trials, a series of hearings in colonial Massachusetts during the 1690s.

During the trials, 19 people were executed by hanging after being found guilty of witchcraft – 14 of which were women.

The author has previously cited the story of Mary Webster as a particular influence.

After a church leader became ill in the town of Hadley, local residents believed his plight was the result of witchcraft and pinned the blame on Webster.

The woman was physically assaulted and hanged as punishment, just about surviving her ordeal.

Atwood has said: “The Handmaid’s Tale is dedicated to Mary Webster because she is an example of a female person wrongly accused.

“But she is slightly a symbol of hope because they didn’t actually manage to kill her. She made it through.”

When Will The Handmaids Tale Season 4 Air

Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale is premiering on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. For the first week back, Hulu will drop three new episodes at once. The next seven episodes will then drop every Wednesday, according to Deadline. In February, a teaser gave a peek into June’s reality inside Gilead before the official trailer dropped.

Originally, the new season was scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2020, but production came to a halt in March because of the coronavirus pandemic. Six months later, production resumed in Toronto. Before the year came to a close, showrunner Bruce Miller shared in December that filming for season 4 was halfway done.

This time around, viewers can expect 10 episodes instead of the usual 13, three of which will be directed by actress Elisabeth Moss, who stars as June Osborne. According to what Bruce told IndieWire.com, the decision to make season 4 shorter was “100% creative.”

“Some storylines just seem to shake out as a 10-episode story, in my eyes,” he explained. “It gives us a little more freedom because you can rely more on one propulsive element.”

The Handmaids Tale: Will The TV Hit Break Its Cycle Of Cruelty

Season four of the drama based on Margaret Atwoods novel has seen Elisabeth Mosss June in near-constant peril. However, it seems her latent rage could be the thing that sets her free

I find myself wondering why I am still so invested in The Handmaids Tale on a weekly basis, as the camera slowly closes in on Elisabeth Mosss face, her character June pained and broken by cruelty after cruelty. The apocalyptic drama is coming to the end of its fourth run, and when this season began, it found itself boxed into an inevitable corner. How could it sustain the story far beyond Margaret Atwoods novel, without keeping its characters in a cage, and becoming an unrewarding display of relentless misery?

It had begun to go around in circles. June would defy the rules, escape the authorities, get captured, undergo torture, and then begin the whole cycle again. It made it hard for viewers to feel satisfaction in her victories. What was the point in rooting for her, if she would inevitably end up back at the start?

It let her escape Gilead for good, at least physically although psychologically, it seems unlikely that she will ever be able to leave. The smaller stage became bigger, the grim domestic despair transformed into geopolitical wranglings between desperate nations. It needed to change gears, and it did. By the later episodes in the season, June returns to her friends and her husband, but she is not the same woman as she was when they saw her last. .

Finally Whats Going To Happen During The Handmaids Tale Season 4

Per the Hulu website, In the upcoming fourth season of The Handmaids Tale, June strikes back against Gilead as a fierce rebel leader, but the risks she takes bring unexpected and dangerous new challenges. Her quest for justice and revenge threatens to consume her and destroy her most cherished relationships. Whoa.
