Speaking of, the Chromecast with Google TV can stream in 1080p or 4K HDR with support for the HDR10+ and Dolby Vision formats – all of which wed recommend testing out at some point as they look downright great. For audiophiles, the new Chromecast supports DTS, Dolby Audio, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos formats, but like the HDR formats youll need a compatible TV and/or sound system to actually hear them.

If you set up Google Home in the same house as your Chromecast, you shouldn’t have a problem immediately pairing the two to play music and videos.
However, if you can’t get your Google Home to communicate with the Chromecast, try this:

Google TV is adding yet another cord-cutting option to its live TV tab. With the addition of Pluto TV, Google TV users now have even more live TV channels to choose from.
Beginning today, Google TV will now support Pluto TV within the live TV tab, meaning users can easily access more than 300 free channels from the platforms primary live TV hub. Pluto TV is the fourth streaming service to grab a spot on Google TVs tab. Previously, Google TV supported YouTube TV, Philo, and Sling all of which require paid subscriptions.
Technically Google TV already offers plenty of free live TV services through its apps, but baking an ad-supported service directly into the live tab is a much easier way to find live and linear coverage. Plus, rival streamer Roku already supports free live TV through its Roku Channel experience.
In addition to adding Pluto TV to its live tab, new Google TV users can also claim six months of Peacock Premium for free . Peacock Premium gives users access to originals, live sports, on-demand movies, and series, as well as WWE programming.
Google said in a blog post that the new Pluto TV integration will be supported on all Google TV devices within the coming weeks, with more free streaming options on the way in 2022.

Using The Google Chromecast With Google TV
Thanks to the dedicated remote and the Google TV on-screen UI, Googles new Chromecast is finally able to compete with the streaming stick giants from Roku and Amazon while outclassing them with its traditional phone mirroring capabilities. To clear up any possible confusion, Google TV is the rebranded Play Movies and TV app expanded to add a big-screen UI on top of the Android TV platform. With 8GB of local storage and 2GB RAM, its on par with the entry-level NVIDIA Shield TV .
Speaking of specs, the processor is a 1.9GHz quad-core Amlogic S905X3, and it streams content at up to 4K resolution with HDR through an HDMI 2.0 connection. Power comes to the device via its USB-C port, and it supports an ethernet connection through an ethernet power adapter sold separately. Curiously there is no Google Stadia support at launch, but its expected to come in early 2021 according to the Stadia Twitter account.
