Gathering people around your phone to show off a picture or video can be a pain, but thanks to Android and Chromecast, it doesnt have to be. Well show you how to wirelessly mirror your Android phone or tablets screen to a TV.
Before we get started, it should be mentioned that mirroring your screen might not be the best method to share content on a TV. Many video and photo apps allow you to cast to a Chromecast-enabled device. This will be a much nicer experience than mirroring your screen.
For all of those other situations, mirroring your screen is a handy trick to know. There are a few things that youll need:
- An Android phone or tablet running Android 5.0 or later.
Well start with the easiest method, which isnt available on all devices. On your Android phone or tablet, swipe down from the top of the screen once and then a second time to expand the Quick Settings toggles.
Find the toggle labeled Screen Cast and tap it.
This will bring up a list of devices that you can mirror your screen to. Select the one that you want.
You will now see your screen on the receiving device.
At the bottom of the app, tap Cast My Screen.
Connect With Smart View
This is the most basic method of mirroring a smartphone to a TV through Wi-Fi. Follow the steps below to mirror with Smart View.
Step 1. Swipe down from the top screen to open the Quick panel> tap on Smart View icon.
Step 2. Select your TV from the list of available devices .
Step 3. Select Start now on the pop-up message that says ‘Start casting with Smart View?’
If the mirroring image is small on the screen, you can change the aspect ratio.Step 1. Go to Smart View > Tap on More Options .
Step 2. Tap Settings > Phone aspect ratio.
Step 3. Select Full screen on connected device to make it a full screen.
If you prefer to switch to full screen on connected device whenever Smart View starts mirroring your phone’s screen, you can switch on ‘Remember settings’ as a handy option for you. Please note that this may cause some apps to restart.
Note:
- Mobile phone and TV must be connected to the same Wi-Fi. Some TVs may require you to switch inputs or turn on screen mirroring.
- Check if Smart View is allowed on the TV .
Tap View function is a new feature in 2020. Just tap the TV with your phone and it will be mirrored.

How to set up Tap View on your phone
Step 1. On your phone, open the mobile SmartThings app, and tap Menu icon .
Step 2. Tap Settings icon, and then swipe to Tap view, Tap sound. Tap the switch to turn it on.

Screen Mirroring Through Phone
Swipe down on your home screen and open the Control Centre.

How To Cast Android To A TV Using Chromecast
The most common method of casting Android to a TV is with Chromecast. A Chromecast is an inexpensive device that serves as a “bridge” between your Android phone and TV.
There are also TVs that have the Chromecast system built-in. This allows casting the same selection of apps directly to those TVs without having to connect an external Chromecast.

2. Amazon Fire Stick
Unfortunately, the 3rd generation Fire TV Stick 4K no longer supports native screen mirroring. If youre using any of the previous generations, though, youre still good.

- To start casting, press and hold the Home button on the Fire Stick remote to enable the mirroring option.
