How To Get Apple TV On Roku

CCX Media Now Available on Roku & Apple TV!!

Is Apple TV on Roku? Yes! Most newer Roku media players have the Apple TV app. You can figure out which model you have and check if it is compatible on Rokus support page. It can be even faster to follow these steps and see if Apple TV is available. If the Apple TV Roku app shows up for you, your media player is compatible!

  • If using an external Roku device instead of a Roku TV, make sure the device is powered on, connected, and set up to work with your TV.
  • On your Roku remote, press the Home button.
  • Scroll down and select Search.
  • Search for Apple TV.
  • Select Apple TV from the search results. If you do not see Apple TV as an option, your Roku may not be compatible with Apple TV.
  • Select Add Channel.
  • In some cases, you may need to verify the download by entering your Roku security code.
  • Select OK once the app is downloaded.
  • Excellent Value If Nothing Radically New

Roku’s 2020 update to its high-end Ultra doesn’t change much compared to past years, not that this is a bad thing. It keeps the remote finder feature, excellent interface and adds support for Apple AirPlay 2 and Dolby Vision HDR. The Roku Ultra retails for $100, although it’s often on sale for less.

The Roku interface is clean and simple, with large tiles for apps arranged in a grid.

Roku’s interface is as easy to use as it gets. A colorful array of app tiles are arrayed in a grid that you can arrange to taste. Responses on the Ultra are super-quick — within seconds I was inside services like Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu or Sling TV — but the cheaper Express 4K Plus seemed just as fast. There are no big recommendation tabs of what to watch, or posters of shows or movies cluttering the tiles, though there are some ads on the right side when scrolling through the grid. The app store, found in the left-hand section labeled Streaming Channels, is just as quick and easy to navigate as the main menu.

The Apple TV 4K has a similarly pretty and colorful menu filled with tiles. Navigation is a bit easier thanks to the addition of a directional “clickpad” to the new Siri Remote and the A12 Bionic processor inside keeps things moving quickly. The Apple TV features recommendations from a variety of services, not just Apple’s own TV Plus subscription service, but if you don’t want to use it you won’t need to.

Both menu systems are easy and straightforward, making this a tie.

What Can I Watch On Apple TV Plus With Roku

Want to know what some of the best Apple TV shows are? One highlight of Apple TV Plus is drama series The Morning Show, starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon as the hosts of a breakfast news program.

If you prefer comedy, try Ted Lasso, in which Jason Sudeikis plays a college football coach who moves to Britain when he gets a high-profile job in soccer, a sport that he knows little about.

There are also a few movies worth highlighting, including Greyhound, a WWII story starring Tom Hanks as a US navy commander, and Wolfwalkers, a charming family-friendly animated movie based on Irish folklore

  • While Apple TV is selected, press the asterisk button on your Roku remote.
  • Select Remove channel from the Apple TV menu.
  • Choose Remove in the Confirm channel removal prompt.

Winner : Roku Vs Apple TV

    Winner: Apple TV

Both Roku and Apple TV have the same installation process, and both of them are incredibly easy.

Roku maybe a little more convenient while trying to establish a connection because it can connect to your TVs USB port while Apple TV needs an external power supply.

However, that minor convenience is trumped over by Apples insane interactivity with other Apple devices. If youre an iPhone user, you simply have to tap the Apple TV to transfer all your account and WiFi details, making the installation process so much easier.

As such, the installation and setup process for Apple TV is a lot simpler for iPhone users. For everyone else, both devices are equally convenient and easy.

Apple TV 4k Vs Roku Ultra : Final Note

These are both solid streaming devices, but which one you choose depends on how much money you want to spend, if you’re an Apple loyalist, and if third-party content is important. The Apple TV 4K is the all-around better box with slightly faster speeds, Apple Arcade and Apple Fitness, and more.

Re: Apple TV Video Not Available

This did not work for me I have been paying for Apple TV for months and the video on Roku will not load and help section just keeps repeating the same issues. I am either going to cancel apple or go buy a fire stick and see if Apple TV will play. It is all over the internet so Roku and apple both know this is a major problem but will not fix. No videos will load on apple, but every other app works! I have no time to keep trying to fix, ridiculous that no one knows the cause or the fix, apple blames Roku, Roku blames apple.

Try Uninstalling Restarting And Clearing Cache On Roku

The most obvious response to an app not working on just about anything is to uninstall it, and then re-install it. But even before that, you can attempt to knock out the cobwebs by restarting your Roku first. Heres how you can restart your Roku:

  • Press the Home Button five times on your remote
  • Press the Up Arrow once
  • Hit the Rewind Button twice
  • Press the Fast Forward button twice
  • This will automatically restart your Roku after a few moments, and then you can attempt to open the Apple TV app again. When restarting the Roku, this method automatically clears the cache on your Roku, essentially getting two birds with one stone.

If that doesnt work, youll want to uninstall the Apple TV app and then reinstall it onto your Roku device.

  • Press the Home Button on your remote
  • Move to the right until you highlight the Apple TV app
  • Press the Star Button on your remote to open the Options Menu
  • Select Remove Channel and confirm
  • Once completed, you will want to restart the Roku again using the steps above. After you reboot the Roku, head into the Channel Store and re-download the Apple TV app and sign in.

Sign In Using Your Mobile Device

It is super annoying having to try and remember your username and password for every service, app, or anything else that you use. Apple knows this and has included a feature to use your mobile device in order to sign in, provided that you have downloaded the Roku app on your iPhone or iPad.

When signing in to the Apple TV app on Roku, you are prompted to sign in using the Roku remote or using your Mobile device. as we mentioned above, you must have the Roku app installed on your iPhone or iPad in order for this to work. But it makes signing in so much easier.

The Apple TV app is available on Roku devices

The first question that every Roku owner should ask themselves is whether the Apple TV app will work with the Roku device you are using. After Apple announced TV+ support for Roku devices, the company made a convenient list regarding which devices will be compatible.

    Heres a breakdown:

If you have a Roku device that falls on this list, then you are moving in the right direction.

Apple TV 4k Vs Roku Ultra : The Breakdown

The first time we published this article, most of the important points in the comparison were hardware-based. That’s largely no longer the case since the Roku Ultra 2020 arrived, although the poorly designed Apple Siri Remote must be addressed. Now, the biggest differences come down to software and which features are included. Specifically, while Roku now supports the Apple TV app , it doesn’t include Apple Fitness or Apple Arcade. Beyond this, the top-level streaming options are about the same.

    Apple TV 4K
    Yes No

From its more intuitive interface to its easier setup, the Apple TV 4K bests Roku Ultra 2020 in nearly every category. It’s faster, more complete, and the one that provides a better overall experience. By contrast, the Roku Ultra 2020 leads on two points: it has a better remote and a much lower price. Also worth considering: the Roku Ultra 2020 doesn’t offer onboard content storage like the Apple TV 4K, which does allow you to store tvOS and downloaded apps and games .

Meanwhile, speed is determined by RAM and processor. On these two points, the Apple TV 4K reigns although its lead isn’t a big as it was previously. Today’s Roku Ultra includes 2GB versus 1GB on older models.

One area on the remotes where Apple is better: the voice command. Apple Siri offers a much more robust and smoother experience compared to Roku’s lackluster voice commands.

    What Are Apple TV Channels

Available on every device with the TV app, this feature allows users to watch content from a variety of partners, including HBO, Starz, Showtime, Cinemax, Epix, Smithsonian Channel, Sundance Now, Lifetime Movie Club, Urban Movie Channel and Tastemade.

You watch from within the TV app itself, with no additional apps, accounts or passwords required. Instead of being bounced out to the HBO Now app, for example, you can watch your Succession episode within the Apple TV app itself. Up to six family members can also share Apple TV channels subscriptions via Apple’s Family Sharing feature using their Apple ID and password. You can also download TV shows and movies from channels to an iPhone or iPad.

All of the devices with the Apple TV app also let you subscribe to and pay for channels from directly within the TV app. The exception once again is Fire TV, which only lets you watch channels you’ve subscribed to elsewhere.

Except for Fire TV, you can subscribe to channels directly within the TV app, and after a free one-week trial, the monthly subscription price is the same as elsewhere.

    The Future Of Apple TV

Roku continues to be a strong force both in standalone media streamers and in built-in smart TV platforms. Apple, on the other hand, seems to be pulling away from the media hub business in factor of software services. The Apple TV app is available on many smart TV and media hub platforms now, including Roku. Even Apple’s AirPlay 2 streaming platform is available on several smart TVs.

Apple TV is now available on a number of smart TV platforms, including Roku

From a hardware perspective, Apple hasn’t updated the Apple TV as a product line in nearly three years. It’s doubtful Apple will simply discontinue it, as there are many existing users who enjoy the brand-specific design, but it’s equally doubtful Apple will announce a surprise new Apple TV Stick with a more affordable price anytime soon.

How To Fix Apple TV+ Problems On Roku

There’s a ton of reasons why Apple TV+ might not be working on Roku from problems with your internet to your remote to your Roku itself. However, there are more than a few quick things you can try out with your Roku to get Apple TV+ up and running again.

  • Restart your Roku. Like many electronic devices, powering off and then powering back on your device can fix any number of strange, temporary issues you might be experiencing.

Depending on your Roku, restarting it may entail shutting it off and turning it back traditionally, or it could involve you disconnecting it from power and then reconnecting it once again. Either method works.

  • Restart your modem and router. If you’re having internet connectivity problems it will render the Apple TV+ service to be unavailable. Most of the time resetting your router and modem will clear this up.

  • Reset your remote. If you use the Roku app as your remote, make sure the app isn’t having problems connecting to your Roku. Sometimes, problems can be with your input device and not Apple TV+ or the Roku itself.

If your batteries in your Roku remote haven’t been swapped out in a long time, the remote could be dying and may start working erratically, not controlling apps properly and making them seem like they have something wrong with them.
