Streaming Capabilities Without The Setup

How to Watch Apple TV plus without and Apple TV box

Chances are you already have an Apple device nearby. If your iPhone, iPad or Apple TV are within reach, that means so are your favorite shows, movies and Pay-Per-View events. Its easy to stream Sling TV on Apple products because theres no need for expensive new equipment or complicated setups.

Sling supports Apple devices with iOS 11 or tvOS 11 and higher. That means if you want to stream the news during your morning commute, you can do so with your iPhone. When its time to cook dinner you can bring live TV into the kitchen with you on your MacBook. Hitting the road? Keep your kids entertained on long car rides with their iPad.

What Can You Download From Apple TV

There are several different types of movies, and TV shows you can download.

  • Movies and TV shows you have purchased from Apple at any time.
  • Movies and TV shows you have rented and are within the rental period.
  • TV shows and movies from Apple TV+.
  • TV shows and movies from other channels you subscribe to in the TV app, such as Showtime and Starz.

How To Stream Content From iPhone Or iPad To Your Mac

Youd be surprised to learn that, for the time being, the same Apple TV app on your iPhone or iPad would seem to have more third-party choices available than youd see on Mac. Or you might simply want to stream some other content you have on your iPhone or iPad to a bigger screen of your Mac.

The natural assumption would be that Apple AirPlay is the tool for the job, since its available on all three devices. Unfortunately, it turns out that the Apple AirPlay solution only works for when streaming to TV from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, but not between the three of them. To be able to stream to Mac from your iPhone or iPad, youd need to install a separate third-party app.

Get An Apple TV Plus Free Trial

Normally Apple TV Plus costs $5 a month or $50 for an annual subscription. You can still get a free trial of the service, but Apple changed up the time periods in June. Now, if you’re planning to try Apple TV Plus out with the free trial, there are three options.

If you’re signing up for the first time, you qualify for a seven-day free trial before the $5 monthly charge kicks in. If you buy a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod Touch or Mac, you’ll qualify for a three-month free subscription. To get the free trial period, you have to redeem the offer within 90 days of purchase.

Lastly, if you can, take advantage of the Apple One bundle — which lets users combine different services like Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple News Plus, storage service iCloud and the new Apple Fitness Plus for one price. By subscribing to Apple One, you can try Apple TV Plus free for one month.

Ted Lasso, a fish-out-of-water sports dramedy, has been one of Apple TV Plus’ most popular shows.

If you want to be able to get help quick in an emergency, you can enable an SOS feature on the Apple Watch that calls emergency services with the press of a button.

  • Open up the Settings app on the Apple Watch.
  • Scroll down to “SOS.”
  • Enable “Hold Side Button.”
  • With the SOS feature toggled on, your Apple Watch will begin dialing emergency services in the country where you’re located if you hold down the side button. The side button is the rounded rectangular button below the Digital Crown.

Holding it down calls emergency services, but you will have a countdown to stop the call in case it gets activated by accident.

Tip: If you want the Apple Watch to be able to automatically call emergency services if you take a hard fall, enable fall detection in this same section. If you slip and are knocked unconscious or have an accident on a bike, skateboard, or other mode of transportation, your Apple Watch can get you help.

  • Question: Q: How To Watch Apple TV+ On Mac Using Mojave

How to Watch Apple TV plus on Chromecast

We have one free year of Apple TV+. Our 3rd generation Apple TV has only worked once with Apple TV+ and that was only after a full reset. It worked after the reset and then after the ATV was turned off, upon turning it back on, Apple TV+ just sits and spins.

So I’m trying on my Mac. According to the information about Apple TV+ on the Apple website, there’s supposed to be an Apple TV app. However, I can’t find it.

My Mac is updated with the latest Mojave updates and is working fine, but looking in the App Store, there isn’t an Apple TV app listed.

How do I get the Apple TV app that is mentioned in Apple’s literature?

    Thanks

How Does Apple’s New TV App Work On Other Devices

On TVs and other third-party devices, the app has been designed to work in a virtually identical way to how the TV app looks on an Apple device. The functionality and layout is the same with the only core difference being how the app handles content from other parties outside of Apple.

What that means is that only content that is available from Apple or the Apple Channels is available in the app. This is because the app isn’t able to open other apps on the TV operating system like BBC iPlayer or ITV Hub – and with this comes a word of caution because the Apple TV app will often list content to buy that’s available free in other apps.

With the introduction of the TV app on TVs, you can also stream from your iOS devices via AirPlay 2. AirPlay 2 offers support for 1080p streaming or mirroring of the iOS device. Note this isn’t supported on Fire TV or Roku devices.

    Set Up Express Transit

In select cities with robust transit options, there’s a nifty Express Transit feature that lets you pass through a transaction gate with just a tap of your Apple Watch, with no need to wake your device or authenticate with a passcode.

Express Transit is super simple and convenient, whether you live in a city with the feature or are visiting. The feature can be set up through the Wallet app, and we have a how-to with full instructions. All you need is an iPhone and Apple Watch, and a debit or credit card linked to Apple Pay to pay for your fare.

In the United States, Express Transit is available in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Washington D.C. It’s also available in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Sweden, the UK, and more, with a full list available on Apple’s website.

Express Transit is well worth setting up if you’re in an area where it’s accepted because of how quick and convenient it is. In New York, for example, if you want to get on the subway, you just tap your wrist on the turnstile and pass through. The charge goes onto your linked Apple Pay card with no other interaction from you. You don’t even need a MetroCard.

You can use Express Transit with either the iPhone or the Apple Watch, but as with Apple Pay, it’s most convenient to use the Apple Watch as it’s right on the wrist.

Sometimes the macOS Apple TV app will play you Apple TV+ fine, but your own bought films and television crash on launch. Here’s what you can do.

The Apple TV app has some odd bugs. The most prevalent one appears to be related to poor metadata associated with files. This bad metadata is why you sometimes see the wrong image, it’s probably why when you’ve just watched episode three of a series, and Apple TV insists the next one to see is episode two.

However, there is one more severe problem with the Apple TV app on macOS. The cause isn’t known, but the result is that when you go to watch any of your owned shows or films, they won’t play.

Instead, they very briefly open a black window, then crash back out to the Apple TV menu. Anything streamed from Apple TV+ works fine, but when this happens to you, it affects all of your bought video.

The solution is in two parts, and you may find that you only need the first one, which is basically updating everything.

  • Open System Preferences and click on Software Update
  • If it isn’t already telling you there’s an update, it will check
  • If there is an update to macOS, click on Update Now
  • Finish the installation and restart your Mac
  • However, since the cause of the problem is not known, do all of the following anyway.
