People can buy content from Prime Video, Vudu, Google Play, and many other services and then watch them across devices. That’s all fine and dandy if you’re in the U.S., but I’m not. In what might be news to Microsoft, there are, in fact, billions of people who are not in the United States.
This wouldn’t be the first time that Microsoft didn’t prioritize customers outside the United States. Many complain about Microsoft’s U.S.-centric approach. I hope that isn’t the case here, but it’s difficult to see it from another angle.

If you’re in the U.S., there is the alternative of using Movies Anywhere. Both Microsoft and Google are among the companies that support the platform, which is designed to help you watch all of your movies on all of your devices no matter which store you bought them from.
So, if you buy something from Google Play on your Android device, the service will be able to sync it to your Windows 10 PC for you to be able to watch in Microsoft’s Movies & TV app.
Besides only being available in the U.S., the other caveat is that it only supports movies, not TV shows. So if you buy TV shows from Google Play, you’ll need to resort to the steps above to be able to watch them on your PC.
Whichever method you use, however, it isn’t difficult to watch Google-bought content on your Windows 10 PC. It’s certainly easier than buying from Microsoft and watching on your Android phone .

So its 2020 and its insane microsoft does not have a Movies & TV app. I feel like piggybacking on the movies anywhere playform was a quick way out of it.
I purchase all my content on my xbox like movies and all. But theres so many things NOT available on movoes anywhere like Rick & Morty season 1-4. Theres quite a bit of movies too. So i have to only buy movies available on movies anywhere so that way I can connect my google movies app to it and then I can stream kovies from my phone to smart TV’s when i go camping or to other peoples peoples houses.
Is Microaoft actually going to make the app on Android/iPhone or is it not going to happen becUze they only want you to be able to do that on microsoft branded tablets/surface devices to puah people to buy those?
Not sure why this hasnt been made possible, there has to be a a reason behind that. Just saying what others wish.
It actually just encourages people to not buy movies and tv shows through mictosoft at all and stick to itunes or buying right through google.
Like right now I buy all my movies on the google store. It sticks to my account just like microsoft, except I can download all my movies and plah anywhere, or i can hop on the youtube app from my phone and cast the movie to any smart tv or device. If microsoft came out with a movies and tv app I would buy exclusively through microsoft and can just easily play off my xbox, any computer, or watch or cast from my phone from anywhere.

But it appears Microsoft is now finally working on bringing its Movies & TV service to iOS or Android, according to sources familiar with the matter.
My sources suggest Microsoft is building these apps to give consumers more of a reason to buy content in the Microsoft Store. While most people have moved over to streaming content via services like Netflix, there is still a whole lot of content that isn’t immediately, or ever, available to stream. Lots of people buy digital movies and TV content, and Microsoft has a huge store that a lot of people seemingly ignore or don’t know about because there is no mobile companion app for their phone.
These apps should minimize that barrier for a lot of people and further solidify Microsoft’s commitment to its digital offerings on the Microsoft Store. Last year, Microsoft killed its music-streaming service, which saw many people question whether Microsoft was going to do the same to its Movies & TV service. Prime Video acts like I bought it through them, so my LG smart tv and kids kindles can watch them. iTunes acts like I bought it through them, so all my iOS devices can watch them. Across all capable devices I can download them. So my kids dont have to waste my limited DSL bandwidth . When I do stream through the app or otherwise its flawless. Honestly, this is what living in the 21st should be. Yeah, I said it. Oh by the way, the app UI is well thought-out and intuitive. Really well done. I honestly dont understand what is holding Paramount back from buying-in, but theyre morons for doing so. If MA is looking for investors or anything, Id sign up. Ill go door-to-door. Probably not door-to-door, I dont really like people, but I do like this app… a lot.

You can connect any and all of the seven available services to Movies Anyway. Again, those are iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, Google Play, Microsoft Movies & TV, Xfinity, and FandangoNOW.
To connect a service, tap the “More” tab in the bottom right, “Manage Retailers’ from the list, then tap “Connect” on the service you’d like to link.
