Stream Anime On Standard Ott Platforms
If you live in the U.S. or New Zealand, there are chances that the official anime streaming sites are available in your region. In that case, you dont have to do much download the respective anime streaming app for Android TV.
Funimation, for instance, is one of the biggest anime streaming sites available in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and Brazil. If you live in one of the aforementioned countries, you can start watching anime on your Android TV by downloading the Funimation Android TV app.
If the popular anime streaming services are not available in your country, alternatively, you can watch anime on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, or other standard OTT platforms. Their anime catalog isnt vast however, their dedicated Android TV apps are much better.
Competitors Are On Ios And Android So Why Isn’t Microsoft
I first thought that there might be some sort of licensing limitation to having a Movies & TV app on iOS and Android. I don’t think that’s the case, however, since Vudu and other streaming services manage to have apps on mobile devices and other major platforms. I imagine that Microsoft might have to sort out some licensing agreements, but they have good lawyers. I’m sure they could get over any hurdles.
While the film and TV industries are different, Microsoft had Groove Music on mobile devices back when Groove Music Pass was a thing. That shows that Microsoft is capable of making content available across different platforms.

Solid Internet connections arent available everywhere. If you want to watch streaming movies and TV shows on an airplane, on the subway, or somewhere out in the wilderness away from cellular towers, you can download them ahead of time.
Not every service offers a download feature, but quite a few services allow you to download videos ahead of time so you can take them with you. This could save lots of valuable cellular data, too, especially if youre roaming internationally. Lets take a look at some of your options.

Movies Anywhere Doesn’t Help People Outside Of The United States
For customers in the U.S., Microsoft Movies & TV is just one of many services that works with Movies Anywhere. People can buy content from Prime Video, Vudu, Google Play, and many other services and then watch them across devices. That’s all fine and dandy if you’re in the U.S., but I’m not. In what might be news to Microsoft, there are, in fact, billions of people who are not in the United States.
This wouldn’t be the first time that Microsoft didn’t prioritize customers outside the United States. Many complain about Microsoft’s U.S.-centric approach. I hope that isn’t the case here, but it’s difficult to see it from another angle.
It’s 2022. What’s Microsoft waiting for? Just let me watch my content on all of my devices.

How To Watch Google Play Movies & TV On Windows 10 With Movies Anywhere
If you’re in the U.S., there is the alternative of using Movies Anywhere. Both Microsoft and Google are among the companies that support the platform, which is designed to help you watch all of your movies on all of your devices no matter which store you bought them from.
So, if you buy something from Google Play on your Android device, the service will be able to sync it to your Windows 10 PC for you to be able to watch in Microsoft’s Movies & TV app.
Besides only being available in the U.S., the other caveat is that it only supports movies, not TV shows. So if you buy TV shows from Google Play, you’ll need to resort to the steps above to be able to watch them on your PC.
Whichever method you use, however, it isn’t difficult to watch Google-bought content on your Windows 10 PC. It’s certainly easier than buying from Microsoft and watching on your Android phone .

Movies & TV App Android & Ios
So its 2020 and its insane microsoft does not have a Movies & TV app. I feel like piggybacking on the movies anywhere playform was a quick way out of it.
I purchase all my content on my xbox like movies and all. But theres so many things NOT available on movoes anywhere like Rick & Morty season 1-4. Theres quite a bit of movies too. So i have to only buy movies available on movies anywhere so that way I can connect my google movies app to it and then I can stream kovies from my phone to smart TV’s when i go camping or to other peoples peoples houses.
Is Microaoft actually going to make the app on Android/iPhone or is it not going to happen becUze they only want you to be able to do that on microsoft branded tablets/surface devices to puah people to buy those?
Not sure why this hasnt been made possible, there has to be a a reason behind that. Just saying what others wish.
It actually just encourages people to not buy movies and tv shows through mictosoft at all and stick to itunes or buying right through google.
Like right now I buy all my movies on the google store. It sticks to my account just like microsoft, except I can download all my movies and plah anywhere, or i can hop on the youtube app from my phone and cast the movie to any smart tv or device. If microsoft came out with a movies and tv app I would buy exclusively through microsoft and can just easily play off my xbox, any computer, or watch or cast from my phone from anywhere.
Microsoft Movies & TV On Android And Ios
There are still some missing apps, however. One of those apps is Movies & TV, which is only available on Windows-based platforms like Windows 10 PC, Xbox, and Windows 10 Mobile. If you’re a movie buff with a large collection from Microsoft’s store, the lack of an iOS or Android app is unfortunate. It’s also likely a barrier for any potential new customers looking to buy movies or TV content. But it appears Microsoft is now finally working on bringing its Movies & TV service to iOS or Android, according to sources familiar with the matter.
My sources suggest Microsoft is building these apps to give consumers more of a reason to buy content in the Microsoft Store. While most people have moved over to streaming content via services like Netflix, there is still a whole lot of content that isn’t immediately, or ever, available to stream. Lots of people buy digital movies and TV content, and Microsoft has a huge store that a lot of people seemingly ignore or don’t know about because there is no mobile companion app for their phone.
These apps should minimize that barrier for a lot of people and further solidify Microsoft’s commitment to its digital offerings on the Microsoft Store. Last year, Microsoft killed its music-streaming service, which saw many people question whether Microsoft was going to do the same to its Movies & TV service. Microsoft says that it continues to remain committed to Movies & TV, however , and these new mobile apps should help with that message.

What Is Movies Anywhere
Movies anywhere is a cloud-based OTT streaming service that compiles and provides you content from major OTT Platforms such as Prime video, VuDu, Play Movies, Youtube, Microsoft Movies and TV, and many more.
You only pay for the content you watch from your retail OTT accounts, and there is no additional charge or sign-up fees.
Currently, Movies Anywhere is available only for users in the USA, so if you live outside of the USA, you cannot access Movies Anywhere on your Roku TV.
With the help of the Movies Anywhere app, you will be able to enjoy your entire library of Movies and TV shows from your Microsoft Movies and TV account on your Roku TV.
Movies Anywhere also provides the facility of downloading your library so you can watch them anywhere without an internet connection.
The Final Word In Digital Downloads
Lets start with AT LAST. I paid for these movies and FINALLY some genius realized it profits everyone to let me use them on whichever device, whichever media I choose. No more separate download sources depending on the studio. No more telling my wife to make sure the box has the iTunes logo. Were done here. Prime Video acts like I bought it through them, so my LG smart tv and kids kindles can watch them. iTunes acts like I bought it through them, so all my iOS devices can watch them. Across all capable devices I can download them. So my kids dont have to waste my limited DSL bandwidth . When I do stream through the app or otherwise its flawless. Honestly, this is what living in the 21st should be. Yeah, I said it. Oh by the way, the app UI is well thought-out and intuitive. Really well done. I honestly dont understand what is holding Paramount back from buying-in, but theyre morons for doing so. If MA is looking for investors or anything, Id sign up. Ill go door-to-door. Probably not door-to-door, I dont really like people, but I do like this app… a lot.

Just follow these steps.
In the sidebar, locate Purchases and click on it.

Attach Your Movie Account
While you can start a new Movies Anywhere collection from the service’s own catalog, that’s not what we’re here to do. In order to watch movies you’ve purchased on other platforms, you’ll need to attach your relevant accounts to Movies Anywhere.
You can connect any and all of the seven available services to Movies Anyway. Again, those are iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, Google Play, Microsoft Movies & TV, Xfinity, and FandangoNOW.
To connect a service, tap the “More” tab in the bottom right, “Manage Retailers’ from the list, then tap “Connect” on the service you’d like to link. Just follow the individual instructions for the service you’ve chosen, which will require your login credentials for said service. Voilà, your movie collection is now connected.
Once you link a service, you will see it turn into Connected with a checkmark symbol, like iTunes in the screenshot above. If you need a little extra help, we have detailed instructions on linking both iTunes and accounts.

Microsoft Is Working On Movies & TV Apps For Android And Ios
Ever since Microsoft announced that it was no longer focused on Windows 10 Mobile, the company has been working around the clock to bring the best of Windows 10 to iOS and Android. This effort has worked well for Microsoft, with apps like Edge and the Microsoft Launcher gaining millions of downloads from the Apple and Google app stores. In 2018, you can switch from a Windows phone to an Android device and continue to use most of Microsoft’s software and services.
Stream Anime In TV Web Browser
Another option is to stream anime on a web browser. Android TVs are not meant to browse the web. Therefore there arent many web browser apps. That being said, you can still sideload an app such as Google Chrome on your Android TV.
Once you manage to use a browser on your Android TV, you can watch anime online on some streaming sites such as Crunchyroll. Of course, you will need a VPN to run sites that are not available in your country.
You also have the option to watch anime on some illegal anime streaming sites. However, we would recommend only watch copyright-free content.
The downside of watching anime in a web browser app on Android TV is that you will face stuttering while watching an episode. Thats because the external video players are not optimized to run on Android TV.
