A great question. With so many outstanding TV brands out there, why should you choose LG over the rest?
Panel-maker LG Display has become the poster child for todays OLED TVs, as a major supplier to its competitors like Panasonic, Sony, or Hisense. While you may like the specific feel or features of other OLED ranges Panasonic has a more grounded color palette, while Sonys Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology emits sound from the panel itself youre still in a sense buying from LG.
LGs OLED sets tend to have a slightly warmer pop to colors than some competitors, but the difference is pretty small unless youre looking for it. But what really marks it out is that it offers the cheapest OLED model on the market, the LG BX with the exception of the Vizio OLED during some rather tempting sales periods.
OLED is able to reach deeper black levels and offer more precise light control than even the best LCD or QLED TVs, thanks to its self-emitting panels and ability to turn pixels off entirely. The TVs of degrade faster than LCDs, though, and can’t go quite as bright as some new Samsung TVs.
The Best Lg TVs You Can Buy
The 2022 version of LG’s premium G-series OLED TVs is here and it’s brilliant. The LG G2 OLED improves upon last year’s G1 in almost every regard to up the game when it comes to the screen tech. Brightness has been a long-time OLED shortcoming, but in our testing we found that the LG G2 reached 590.54 nits way above the G1’s 412.05, albeit not quite on a par with the Sony A80J’s 713.65 result. And brightness is just one aspect of its performance that impressed us, with color accuracy, color gamut and lag times all faring well in our testing. And of course you get the deep blacks we’ve come to expect from OLED.
This being one of LG’s ‘Gallery’ series TVs, its design is also something to behold, with a minimalistic silver frame that gives it a near-bezel-less appearance. It’s also well equipped with ports, sounds better than almost any OLED we’ve ever heard and offers a full-featured smart TV platform that should satisfy most households, without quite being the best. The LG C2, which we’re currently testing, may end being a better purchase for most people, but until then this is the best OLED TV you can buy.
For everything the LG QNED MiniLED 99 Series 8K TV offers, its still a tough sell, largely because 8K content is still pretty much non-existent. That, more than anything else like the sluggish controls or inconsistencies in upscaling quality gives us pause in recommending the set, even if it’s one of the most affordable 8K sets we’ve seen.

Why Buy An Oled TV
For many, OLED is the display type of choice for high-end televisions. From early on in OLED’s story, it became obvious that OLED gave a lot more freedom in design. Because of how the panel works, TVs could be thinner than rivals and that’s what LG become known for.
That’s still evident in LG’s OLED TVs – they are really slim – and whether you’re wall mounting or using the stand, they look great.
But above that, OLED became synonymous with quality. Because each pixel emits its own light they can be turned off individually, leading to deeper blacks and less bleed across the panel between high and low lights. This drives OLED’s reputation for being able to deliver deep involving black levels and more accurate colours than some other technologies.
Of course, LG has kept up with the HDR race too, offering Dolby Vision on its TVs for a number of years, while also supporting 120Hz on many of its screens, making them futureproofed for gaming.

Why You Should Buy The Lg C1 Oled TV
In our review of the LG C1 OLED TV, we praised its excellent picture quality, with exceptional contrast and great black levels. All in all, its simply a great-looking TV that has been one of our top picks for best TV for a long time. Currently topping out our best TVs list is the LG C1s successor, the LG C2, but if you want a high-end TV for a great price then you can still enjoy the many benefits this slightly older model has to offer. Samsungs 2022 OLED Lineup
Samsung S95B Series: Samsung is back in the OLED game after a decade of hiatus. The company has a single OLED series this year, but with one important caveat: its a QD-OLED TV.QD-OLED displays are a new variant of OLED, combining OLED panels with quantum dotsmicroscopic nanocrystals more commonly used to pump up the color saturation in the best LCD/LED TVs. Samsungs QD-OLED model is available in 55- and 65-inch screen sizes for $2,200 and $3,000, respectively. While thats still expensive, its quite competitive for a wholly new kind of screen technology.
LGs 2022 OLED lineup
LG Z2 Series: This is LGs top OLED series in 2022. This series is available in 77- and 88-inch sizes for $13,000 and $25,000, respectively. These are huge OLED screens and they boast 8K resolution, so naturally theyre super pricey. The rest of the 2022 models have 4K resolution.
LG B2 Series: In previous years, the B Series OLEDs were more budget-friendly models that skipped on certain upscale features in order to keep prices down. In 2022, however, the B2 may be the new best OLED TV for most people, but we wont know for sure until we test it. The B2 is available in 55-, 65-, and 77-inch screen sizes and starts at a fairly reasonable $1,500.

Lg Nano90 Nano80 And Nano75
- Nano90 – any model with ‘Nano’ in the model name is a Nanocell TV and the Nano90s sit at the top. Nanocell TVs use backlights to create the image, but don’t have the tiny LEDs from the QNED ranges. What the Nano90 models have that other Nanocell sets don’t is a 120Hz screen. It also uses the Alpha 7 processor, which is the same one powering some of LG’s OLED and MiniLED models.
- Nano80 – the maximum framerate drops from 120 to 60Hz on the Nano80 range and rather than the Alpha 7 processor they get the more generic sound quad-core processor. This could lead to a drop in clarity, contrast and colour on these ranges and motion isn’t likely to be displayed as smoothly
- Nano75 – one thing the Nano75s have going for them is the sizes they are available in. It’s the only 2021 Nanocell range with a 43-inch screen option, which is bound to make it popular. Specs wise it shares much with the Nano80, but you don’t get local dimming, which means contrast will suffer.

What TV Terms Do I Need To Know
When it comes to knowing what you’re paying for, almost no category is rifer with subterfuge and tomfoolery than TVs. While knowing the specs of the TV you’re shopping for is only half the battle, it’s the bigger half. Here are the key bits of jargon you’ll want to know while browsing:
LED/LCD: This refers to Light Emitting Diode and Liquid Crystal Display. LEDs are the backlights used in LCD TVs, also sometimes called a LED TV for this reason. The LED backlight shines through a layer of a semi-solid substance called “liquid crystal,” so named for its ability to morph in reaction to tiny electrical volts and allow light to pass through.
OLED: This means Organic Light Emitting Diode. This is an altogether different panel technology than LED/LCD. Rather than an LED backlight element shining through an LCD panel element, OLED TVs essentially combine the backlight and crystal array, using sub-pixel strata that produce light and color individually.
4K/UHD: Usually 4K refers to resolutionspecifically, 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. This is the current standard/mainstream resolution for most TVs. UHD means Ultra High Definition, and actually refers to a suite of picture improvements like 4K resolution and Wide Color Gamut, which can display many more shades than HD TVs.

Its use of Nano technology also means that users will enjoy refined color. Its Game Optimizing technology means that users will be able to switch on specialized settings such as Auto Low Latency Mode for a better gaming experience. The TVs most significant disadvantage is its lack of local dimming technology, as this wouldve improved its black levels.
With both Google Assistant and Alexa built-in, voice control is seamless, so owners will be able to change the channel without having to reach for the TVs remote. HD content also gets upscaled to 4K thanks to the TVs Quad-Core Processor, and since the TV comes Bluetooth ready, owners wont have to deal with wires when setting up external speakers.
Is Qled Or Oled Better
While these monikers sound similar, they rely on different technologies to deliver a unique TV viewing experienceand each has its own benefits and drawbacks. LED backlighting technology is the most common and oldest of the three. This technology has been round for more than a decade. LED screens are typically the cheapest to produce and therefore tend to be found in more affordable TVs. The technology offers good colors and contrast ratios, and are not susceptible to burn-in.
QLED technology uses the same kinds of LEDs to backlight its LCD panel, but introduces a layer of quantum dot nano particles between the LED and LCD layers. That layer filters the light to deliver more vibrant and realistic colors, and a better overall picture. It can make nature documentaries and explosions really pop, and though quantum dots and QLED have become a bit of a marketing spin, they do give you something that just wasn’t possible on older LCD screens.
One handy technology which is helping to bridge the gap between OLED and LED TVs are Mini LEDs. These are far smaller than traditional LEDs making it possible to pack more of them behind the screen for added brightness and much more nuanced local dimming. That has a huge impact on HDR, by increasing the accuracy of the brightness hikes for reflections and on-screen light sources, and cuts back on blooming too.
