How To Watch Nba TV Live Without Cable

NBA TV is a pay television station. It is not available over the air via an antenna. So you need to get it through a third-party provider. In the past, that meant a cable or satellite service. But today, NBA TV is available from a number of streaming services.

To use a streaming service, you need a solid internet connection because that is the medium that the channel flows through. With that, you can sign up with any live TV streaming service that offers NBA TV and watch it on a TV or other streaming device.

How Are Orange And Blue Different

Despite Sling TV’s advertising itself as “a la carte TV,” you can’t pick and choose individual channels. As with cable, there’s a set fee for a certain package.

Sling calls its packages Orange and Blue, and differentiates them by channel selection and simultaneous stream limit.

  • Sling Orange: $30 per month. 33 channels, including ESPN and Disney . Limited to one simultaneous stream at a time.
  • Sling Blue: $30 per month. 48 channels, including Fox and NBC channels . Up to three simultaneous streams.
  • Sling Orange + Blue: $45 per month. Includes all channels from both . Up to four simultaneous streams, but only one at a time of Orange channels.

Here’s all of the channels offered by Sling TV’s base packages as of July 18, 2019.

Oh, and if Sling’s prices seem cheap, that’s because of how expensive everyone else is getting. Check out our Hulu Live vs. YouTube TV vs. Sling vs. DirecTV Now face-off for more details.

Are The 2022 Nba Finals On Sling TV

The great news is that every single game of the series will be available to watch on Sling, meaning you’ll be able to watch Stephen Curry and Jayson Tatum go head-to-head without the need for a cable subscription..

All NBA Finals games are set to air live on ABC, ESPN Deportes, the ESPN app, and ESPN3.

While ABC may not be on Sling TV’s channel list, ESPN3 is available via the service’s Orange package , making it one of the most cost effective ways of watching the series.

  • Game 3: Wednesday, June 8: Golden State at Boston, 9pm ET / 6pm PT
  • Game 4: Friday, June 10: Golden State at Boston, 9pm ET / 6pm PT
  • *Game 5: Monday, June 13: Boston at Golden State, 9pm ET / 6pm PT

What Else Do Nba Fans Need To Know

You should compare the technical specifications of these streaming services before deciding. For example, if you want to record and re-watch games regularly, check out a serviceâs DVR storage limits. If there are a lot of people in your home who all want to watch TV at the same time, you need a service that supports a lot of concurrent streams. Verify that whatever service you pick supports all the media streaming devices you own, too.

One last consideration is the streaming resolution that the services support. FuboTV and YouTube TV both technically support 4K live streams, but neither appears to be set to broadcast any NBA games at this resolution. That could very well change, however. Both Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV support 1080p/60fps streams on select channels and devices, while FuboTV , Sling TV, and DirecTV Stream seem to top out at 720p. Higher-resolution streams produce crisper images, while faster refresh rates help smooth out fast action.

Which Cell Phone Plan Should I Get

Not only do you need a good internet connection, but youll also need enough data to support your streaming needs if youre a cell phone streamer.

And who isnt a mobile streamer when it comes to passing the time during your lunch break, riding the train to work, or distracting your little ones while youre grocery shopping?

We recommend an unlimited data plan for the family, so you never have to worry about limiting your binge-watching time on Hulu. And we all know it could lead to a family crisis if someone uses more data than they were allowed.

What are the best unlimited cell phone plans?

Sling TV actualy is the BEST!!! No offense, but paying the cable company $150+ versus paying Sling TV is a no brainer.

Well our internet is 85.00 a month just for internet alone. The 50 scam I got with sling with the AIR TV I was told did Cloud DVR combined with all the problems makes it A POOR CHOICE. Service sucks. They told me I COULD NOT RETURN my Air TV. After what Brian said glad they said that since he returned his and got nothing for it! It works to play youtube for my bird. • Whats Missing From Sling TV

Sling TV’s Fan Freakout Zone (College Basketball Tournament Commercial)

The channels Sling is missing are tough to overlook. It doesnt have ABC or CBS in any of its plans the two channels consumers said they wanted more than any others in TiVos survey of 3,300 consumers. Granted, you can get those channels for free using a TV antenna, but it certainly degrades the channel-surfing experience to exit the Sling app every time you want to watch ABC or CBS.

Out of Sling, Hulu, DIRECTV STREAM and YouTube TV, Sling is the only service that doesnt have all of the big four networks: ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC.

The following channels arent available in any of Slings base plans or add-ons:

    • ABC
    • FOX Sports Regional Sports Networks
    • HBO
  • Cooking Channel
  • Nickelodeon
  • There is a lot of overlap between Slings Orange and Blue plans. In fact, around 80% of Oranges channels are also available in Blue. That said, there are some key differences between the two plans. Sling Blue has an objectively better channel lineup. It has 47 channels to Oranges 32, including FOX, NBC, Discovery Channel and FX.

But Sling Orange has one must-have channel that is non-negotiable for huge segments of viewers: ESPN. Without it, sports fans would miss out on a significant number of sporting events, including Monday Night Footballs marquee NFL matchups, the College Football Playoffs and NBA Conference Finals games.

What Other Channels Are Not Available On Sling TV

Beyond local channels, a handful of popular channels aren’t available at all on Sling TV. They include:

    • Animal Planet
    • OWN
    • CBS Sports

Sling TV also lacks many regional sports networks that are probably found on your local cable service. These vary by locality, but typically they include channels that show professional baseball, basketball and hockey games in the regular season for example, NESN in New England and MSG in New York.

Which Sports Channels Does Sling TV Have

Sling TV is one of the few services that offers NFL RedZone! Get the Sports Extra for $15 per month to enjoy the best channel in the world .

Slings sports channels are a little slim, so its not the best option for sports fans. We would recommend fuboTV or YouTube TV if youre looking for a live TV streaming service with lots of sports channels.

If youre sold on the low price or only want a few sports channels, stick with Sling.

Sling Orange includes the following sports channels:

    • ESPN

Sling Blue includes the following sports channels:

    • NFL Network

Sling Orange + Blue includes the following sports channels:

    • ESPN
    • Stadium
    • TNT

To make sure you get all of the channels you and the family want , take advantage of that free trial.

Is Your House Ready For Sling TV

Sling TV requires a minimum download speed of 5 Mbps to stream, but you’ll want 25 Mbps for a smoother streaming experience. And if you and two other members of your family want to stream at the same time, that means youll be using 50 Mbps total.

So do you have the bandwidth to support your familys streaming needs?

Sling Orange Vs Blue: What Is The Sling Blue Plan

Sling TV Has NBA League Pass The Cord Cutter Life

Sling Blue costs $35 per month and gives you access to 47 live channels. However, Blue does not include every Orange channel by default theres no Disney and no ESPN, for starters. On the plus side, Sling Blue is a multi-stream option, which means you can access the service on up to 3 devices at once. Three different people could use the account simultaneously, or you could record three shows while youre away, or mix and match.

Sling Blue users also have the opportunity to watch NBC stations, including NBC, USA, Bravo and SyFy. Also, Fox News and MSNBC, which never agree on anything, are both only on Sling Blue, with neither on Orange.

How Can I Watch Nba Games Without Cable

The best way to watch NBA games without cable is to subscribe to a live TV streaming service.

YouTube TV will have the complete NBA package with all of the channels you need and the option to add NBA LEAGUE PASS to your service.

Sling TV will be your most inexpensive option with two of the four channels youll need, and fuboTV will have three of the four channels. Both of these services also offer NBA LEAGUE PASS as an add-on.

Whats The Difference Between Nba TV And Nba League Pass

NBA TV offers live coverage of a limited number of games per year, and there is no guarantee that your particular team will be featured during a specific broadcast window. NBA League Pass provides access to every game that is played during the regular season with the exception of blackout games in your location.

You can also buy a season pass for a specific team. This may be an ideal choice for those who are fans of a single franchise and dont care to watch the other teams play on a regular basis.

Note, however, that if your favorite team is local to you, you need to sign up with a streaming service that offers your local RSNs like FuboTV and DIRECTV STREAM.

Which TV Providers Are Best For The Nba Season

Live TV streaming services YouTube TV, fuboTV, and Sling TV all have NBA TV and NBA LEAGUE PASS.

If you’re looking for a cable or satellite TV company with NBA TV and NBA LEAGUE PASS, then Xfinity, DISH, Spectrum, and AT& T are the best choices.

    Monthly price

We mention Spectrum TV and DIRECTV at the bottom here for a few reasons:

    • We want to give you more choices.
    • Both offer NBA LEAGUE PASS.
    • Spectrum TV is our second choice for cable TV.
    • DIRECTV has second-year price hikes, making your monthly bill quite pricey during year two. But check out our review to see if this satellite TV option is better for you.

Is Sling TV Good For Sports

How much does Gary Payton II’s injury hurt the Warriors? | First Take

Sling doesnt have ABC, CBS or FOX Sports regional networks, so many fans wont be able to watch their local MLB, NBA and NHL teams games on the service.

Casual fans can get by with Sling, but if youre a more avid sports viewer, youll probably want to upgrade to Hulu + Live TV or YouTube TV. Thats because Sling is missing ABC and CBS, two of the most important channels for sports fans. Without them, youll miss NFL games every Sunday , the NBA Finals and a number of college football games.

Outside of the MLB, Sling lacks at least one channel that airs live games from each of the five most popular sports leagues in the U.S. For most sports, youll have to pay $10/mo. for the Sports Extra pack to access league channels like NBA TV and MLB Network.

    League
ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN 3, FOX ABC, ACC Network, Big Ten Network, CBS, Pac-12 Network, SEC Network

*Available in Sports Extra add-on for $10/mo.

Another problem for sports fans is that the key sports channels are split between Orange and Blue. Orange has ESPN and TNT, while Blue has FOX and NBC. If you want to catch most NFL games, for instance, youll need both, which costs $45 .

Roku Streaming Stick Plus review: CNET’s pick for the best streamer you can get.

Originally published Jan. 20, 2015.: Adds details after Sling’s price increase.

    Why Is It So Cheap

One of the biggest “gotchas” with Sling TV, and one of the reasons it’s cheaper than cable, is the single-stream restriction on the Sling Orange package . Meanwhile, the Fox and NBC-inclusive Sling Blue does offers up to three simultaneous streams.

If you’re an Orange subscriber, you cannot watch Sling TV on more than one device — TV or mobile — at the same time. This restriction can be a real hassle for families who want to watch different shows in different rooms, for example.

How does it work? If you’re watching Sling TV on one device and then someone else begins watching Sling TV on another device, the service makes you choose which single device to continue streaming. The other device is blocked from streaming Sling TV until the first device stops.

    What Is Nba League Pass

The NBA offers several subscription options: League Pass Audio , NBA TV , Team Pass , League Pass , and League Pass Premium . You need to choose one of these plans to watch out-of-market games.

The NBA League Pass Audio option allows subscribers to listen to every game without worrying about blackouts. The NBA TV option gives you access to live, out-of-market games that air on NBA TV. With this plan, you can also stream NBA TV studio shows.

The Team Pass plan enables you to watch live, out-of-market games for one team. The League Pass plan allows you to watch hundreds of out-of-market games from around the league, while the League Pass Premium tier gives you the same perks without commercials. Only the League Pass Premium tier lets you stream on two devices simultaneously.

Note that none of the League Pass subscriptions allow you to watch any of the nationally broadcast games live . Replays of those games are available three hours after the broadcast concludes. In-market games subject to local blackouts are available to watch three days after the live broadcast ends.

Sling TV Cancellation: How Do I Cancel Sling

Twitter Explodes as Sling TV Fails to Deliver NBA Finals

Sling TV is a month-to-month service and does not require a contract. You can start or stop at any time, and there are no startup fees, cancellation penalties or equipment-rental costs.

If you find that Sling TV isn’t what you had hoped for, you can follow the company’s simple process for canceling your membership. On your account page, you’ll see a Cancel Subscription link. Click on the Cancel Subscription option again, and tell Sling why you’re leaving.

After Sling confirms your cancellation, billing will stop immediately. Because there are no contracts, you can cancel at any time for any reason, and you won’t be penalized.
