A horror-comedy mockumentary series, What We Do in the Shadows stars Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Matt Berry, Mark Proksch, and Harvey Guillén. Based on the feature film by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, this TV show follows the nightly exploits of a group of vampire roommates Nandor , Nadja , Laszlo , and Colin Robinson as they navigate the modern world of Staten Island with the help of their human familiar, Guillermo . In season three, the vampires are elevated to a new level of power and encounter the vampire from which all vampires have descended, a tempting Siren, gargoyles, werewolf kickball, Atlantic City casinos, wellness cults, ex-girlfriends, gyms, and supernatural curiosities galore. Colin turns 100 and Nandor tries to inject his life with more meaning.

• May 12, 2021Pretty darn good if you like the comedy style of the Office. I dont, but this particular cast and the accents they use make it work for me. This is probably the only show that uses that formula in a way that I like. Its really just a very long comedy skit, the improvisation is clear in many takes. It has a strange SNL feel while giving off a production set value of a netflix tv series. Costumes are great and the writing isnt bad either. What We Do in the Shadows season two managed to somehow exceed the first season, wrapping up with a huge cliffhanger in the process.

Based on the movie of the same name, the mockumentary follows vampire roommates Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja and Colin Robinson as they and Nandor’s familiar Guillermo go about their day-to-day life in Staten Island.

“That style grounds it and makes the show work,” said executive producer Stefani Robinson at a virtual PaleyFest panel . “Staten Island, their neighbours and everything needs to feel real and it’s the magic of the show because when it feels real, the cast can be big and surprising. Rooting it in some reality makes it work.”

Season three was confirmed by FX, so we know that our favourite vampires will be back. But their lives are likely to be changed forever by the events of the season two finale.

Nandor was a bloodthirsty warrior in his human life, but at over 700 years old, he’s begun to soften in his old age. Nandor acts as head of the household and is in charge of his familiar, Guillermo . What We Do In The Shadows Season 3 Episode 5

The vampires get back to their official duties onWhat We Do in the Shadows; season 3 episode 5 The Chamber of Judgement. Nandor and Nadja are poised to take the throne at the center of the judicial altar in the subbasement office of the Vampiric Council. They poise for quite a while. So long, in fact, it becomes unjudicial.

The battle over the top seat in the council is as petty as it is essential to the proceedings. One of the unsaid traits of the undead on What We Do in the Shadows is the vampires, besides never aging physically, dont really seem to age emotionally or intellectually. They love their toys, any sense of ritual, glitz or shiny things in general. In the opening episode, Nandor couldnt get enough creepy paper. When the rogue vampires declared independence from interpretive dance, Nadja made it a specific point from which they would never be freed. She is proven correct as the dance which opens The Ceremony of Judgment is cosmically confusing but comically utilitarian. The seat at the throne means a lot, but familiar-turned-bodyguard Guillermo wins the childish game of king of the kill by a default of his own.

Season two of What We Do In The Shadows left viewers on a huge cliffhanger as Nandos loyal familiar Guillermo used his inherited vampire-hunting skills to kill the Vampiric Council and all the immortal guests at the Nouveau Théâtre des Vampires, saving his masters.

Speaking to Deadline in February, show runner Paul Simms teased: Well, without giving too much away, yes, obviously, season two ended with not only Guillermo slaying lots of important vampires, but the vampires he lives with, our regular characters now, knowing that hes formerly a secret vampire slayer, and now they know about it, and yeah, we pick up very directly.

Speaking to Bleeding Cool, Harvey Guillén said: We left off on a real big cliffhanger with finding out the truth and the housemates finding out about Guillermos lineage with Van Helsing and that hes a natural-born killer. We definitely pick up there.

I think its like we pick up where we left off and well be dealing with a lot of new things as well. Well be introducing old faces that you saw. I will be seeing old girlfriends of the characters. Theres definitely a lot of adventure ahead.

What will Nandor, Laszlo and Nadja do with Guillermo now that they know of his vampire-killing abilities? And what will the vampire community think of the blood-sucking trio, who in their eyes have committed the most heinous crime a vampire can commit?

Will There Be A Season 3 Of What We Do In The Shadows

Yes! US network FX confirmed the series renewal on Friday 22nd May, shortly before season two landed in the UK.

Various cast members reacted to the news, with Mark Proksch, who plays the hilariously dull energy vampire Colin Robinson, promising more silliness on the way.

Legendary guest star Mark Hamill even tweeted about the great news, adding: Everyones favourite undead roommates will live on for a 3rd season!

There seems to be a decent chance that Jim the Vampire Laszlos nemesis and new coach of Pennsylvanias womens volleyball team will return for season three!

What We Do In The Shadows follows three vampires named Vladislav , Viago and Deacon . It’s a kind of parody-like humour that has no actual plot; it’s more a mockumentary in the style of This Is Spinal Tap’. It also makes fun of how vampires are shown in other movies-mainly that of Hollywood.

The New Zealand born actor Taika Waititi has enjoyed incredible success since starring in this comedy-horror flick. He won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for his movie JOJO RABBIT and was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. Not to mention his directing credits on Thor: Ragnarok!

On Cinema At The Cinema

Proksch plays a fictionalized version of himself in the On Cinema universe, in which he attempts various impersonations, including W.C. Fields and The Marx Brothers. The fictional Proksch was briefly declared dead during the 5th Annual On CinemaOscar special, having suffocated inside a heavy diving suit during a Jaws impersonation skit. His character briefly appears in season 10’s VR episodes, when the camera is turned showing his comatose body. This takes place during a recurring section in which Gregg Turkington plays his old audition tapes for films he failed to be cast in. His comatose body again appears in the 6th Annual Oscar special as “The Living Oscar”. Painted gold and strapped to a gurney, pre-recorded phrases in his voice are played in answer to questions surrounding Oscar trivia. During one segment his comatose body is slowly rotated around a compilation of past Oscar nominated films. He awakens after being knocked over by host Tim Heidecker and spends the rest of the special in a state of confusion and shock while bleeding from a broken nose. The fictional Proksch still appeared confused in the next season of On Cinema. After being beaten in an LAPD holding cell when he was wrongly arrested for selling VHS copies of public domain movies with Gregg, he goes missing. During the 8th Annual Oscar special, a brief video recording that appears to depict the fictional Proksch surfaces and suggests that he no longer wishes to be involved with the hosts of On Cinema.

What We Do In The Shadows Cast

Were almost certain to see Kayvan Novak , Matt Berry , Natasia Demetriou , Mark Proksch and Harvey Guillén return for season three, especially given the dramatic events that took place during last series finale.

FX has not yet teased a potential line-up of guest stars for season three, but hopefully Jake McDorman will return as Jeff Suckler the reincarnation of Nadjas former love Gregor, beheaded by Laszlo in series one who returned for one episode in season two as a ghost. Perhaps hell reappear in a different form next series.

Show runner Paul Simms did tease during the shows PaleyFest panel in March that therell be a character joining the show for a season-long arc whos been referred to in previous episodes. And its not Nick Kroll , but someone we all know and love, he added.

Hopefully, Simon the Devious played by Big Mouths Nick Kroll will still return for another series, if he makes it out of that sewer, as well as Mark Hamill, who played Jim the Vampire, in season two.
