Snail Reveal (Extended) | Season 5 Ep. 1 | THE MASKED SINGER

The Masked Singer is an American reality singing competition television series based on the South Korean television program King of Mask Singer. The show, which involves celebrities singing anonymously in elaborate full-body costumes, was developed by Craig Plestis and is hosted by Nick Cannon. During most episodes, four to six celebrities each perform covers of famous songs in costume in front of a studio audience and panelists Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke. After the audience and panelists vote for their favorite performance, the celebrity with the fewest votes is eliminated from the competition and takes off their mask, revealing their identity.

The Masked Singer Season 3 Start Date

The Masked Singer season 3 premiered on ITV on Saturday 1st January at 7pm.

The second episode aired the following day at a slightly later time of 7:30pm.

Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com about the new season, executive producers Dan Nettleton and Derek McLean said that they were planning some “very crazy, high concept ideas”.

“We have got so many ideas!” Nettleton said. “We do not intend for this to be the same every year, and partly because the beauty of the format is you can do bonkers things.

“In a traditional kind of talent show, there are limits to where you can take the show, but with a show that relies on Badgers singing against Sausages and Blob there really isn’t a limit.”

Earlier this week, Mediaweek spoke to EP Tamara Simoneau about bringing TVs most colourful show to life.

At the heart of the show is the guessing panel, who have the job of trying to look past the masks and nail down the voices that are coming out of them. This year there has been a shake up on the panel, with Dave Hughes the only one staying on from last year.

Hughesy appointed himself team captain, but he might have a mutiny on his hands because his new fellow panellists are that good and that invested in getting it right! says Simoneau.

As for the three new guessers making their debut, Simoneau says they all bring different strengths to the team.

Chrissie was a pretty easy choice because, well, shes Chrissie Swan and we adore her. Shes the shows number one couch fan along with her daughter. It was an easy switch for her to shake off the slippers, put on some sequins, and come join us in the studio.

What Is The New Format Of The Masked Singer Season 8

There’s going to be a big change coming to The Masked Singer in season 8 as the show’s format shifts to a King/Queen of the Hill format.

The new format will last for three rounds of three episodes and the winner will move on to the semifinal round. In each episode, one of the three competitors will be eliminated early on and then the final two will compete in a “Battle Royale,” after which one will be unmasked and the other will move on.” There can be three or four singers per episode and there will be new masked competitors each week.

Executive producer Craig Plestis talked to Entertainment Weekly about the changes. “So there’s the three episodes, we get a king or queen. We do another three episodes, we get another king or queen. Another three episodes, you get another king or queen. So that’s how we get to our three finalists for the semifinals,” he explained.

There will also be themed episodes that determine the song choices for a given night, in addition to the costumes and set designs. All of this will likely offer hints as to the identity of the singers behind the masks.

“We’ve upped the ante a little bit with these themes to make it easier for the home audience to play along,” said Plestis. “If it is a Vegas night or if it is a, whatever theme it might be, it helps you with the clue and the guessing games as well.”

So What Exactly Is The Masked Singer About

It really is as weird as it looks.

Based on a South Korean format, King of Mask Singer, The Masked Singer will see 12 famous faces taking to the stage to sing only, we won’t know who is singing. So far, so The Voice.

What makes the show so unique, shall we say, is guises our celebs take to mask their identity. This really is the only show on television where Donny Osmond, disguised as a peacock, could take on T-Pain dressed as a monster .

The Masked Singer Is Back For Another Season Of Guessing Who Is Under The Elaborate Costumes With A New Format That Will Engage Viewers Like Never Before

The outlandish costumes are back but for Season 8 of The Masked Singer judges and viewers are going to guess like never guessed before. According to executive producer Craig Plestis the new format for the show brings a whole new life and a whole new aspect to the popular music reality competition.

Every episode will include double unmaskings in whats being called a King and Queen of The Masked Singer-style competition with sudden eliminations.

‘the Masked Singer’ Has A Brand

Let’s start off with the things that fans will already know. The Masked Singer showcases a group of celebrities dressed up in outlandish costumes and masks to perform some classic and popular songs. Throughout an episode, a celebrity panel of judges attempt to guess which performer is hiding under the mask. The studio audience then votes for their favorite singer, and the least popular performer must unmask in front of everyone.

Season 8 of the show takes the competition to a completely different level. Instead of one unmasking per week, every episode will feature two unmaskings. One takes place in the middle of the show and the unmasked celebrity gets to watch the rest of the competition in the audience.

The second unmasking takes place after a brand-new segment. The top two singers of the night get to face off in a Battle Royale performing the same song. Whoever wins gets to move on to the next week of competition, but the loser of the bout must unmask right then and there. The top singer of the evening still remains masked and gets to move on.

It’s no stretch to say that the unmasking portion of each episode is one of the most popular aspects of The Masked Singer, former New York City mayorsturnedoozing presidential attorneys notwithstanding. Season 8 seeks to capitalize on those reveals, giving audiences more surprises and shocking revelations every week. No more having to wait weeks upon weeks to see which celeb is hiding under the absurdly large character masks!

How Does The Masked Singer Work

The Masked Singer is based on the South Korean show King of Mask Singer. A group of celebrities compete on the show anonymously in costumes over a series of episodes. In each episode, a portion of the competitors are paired off into face-off competitions, in which each will perform a song of his or her choice in their real voice. From each face-off, the panelists and live audience vote the winner is safe for the week, while the loser is put up for elimination. At the end of the episode, the losers of the face-offs are then subjected to the earlier votes of the panelists to determine who will not continue the eliminated singer then takes off their mask to reveal their identity.
