They were also impressed by how Matt and KT managed to avert a total disaster, not just serving up an OK dessert but a really nice one.

While the judges confessed that their favourite dessert of the night was Che and Davids nashi pear, the WA duo bombed out with their main meal.

Che and Davids pork came out of the oven red and raw, so they put it in the pan – and ended up overcooking it.

That sealed their fate, despite the quality of their dessert.

The judges were looking for consistency and two good dishes, rather than one excellent and one terrible one.

Matt and KT were besides themselves with excitement after learning they would go through to the semi-finals along with Kate and Mary, Katherine and Sophie and Janelle and Monzir.

Matt, who is Indigenous, was teary, saying he could feel his ancestors looking down on him with pride.

The four cooking pairs will now face off to see who will go through to the Grand Finale.

Matt and KT acknowledged they have some stiff competition – but said they were ready to bring their A-game.

Cheesecake Fail Has Mkr Duo Panicking

A dessert disaster had one pair of MKR contestants in Monday nights second cook-off fearing they would be turfed out of the competition.

Matt and KT were making a finger lime cheesecake with blackberry coulis in an effort to impress the nights two judges, Colin Fassnidge and Gary Mehigan.

Theyd already impressed with a gnocchi in burnt butter sauce for their mains dish, but wanted to go next level with their dessert, mashing up Matts passion for native Australian ingredients with best friend KTs Italian heritage.

Doing a cheesecake in a high-pressure situation, and with limited time, was risky.

As Matt admitted, cheesecake is something theyd usually leave to set overnight, so they decided to speed up the process by putting their cheesecake in the freezer for a time.

But when Colin came around to check how they were going, he had some bad news for the pair.

Their cheesecake wasnt just set – it was totally frozen, and they had to work out a way to thaw it out without turning into a watery, blobby mess.

You could see they were absolutely devastated – the look on their faces screamed, were going home.

Its not a cheesecake, its a freezecake!, Matt exclaimed.

What on earth is going on?

Without the cheesecake, we dont have a dessert, KT added.

When publicity photos for the Season 4 premiere of Charlie Brookers Netflix anthology series began to circulate, they led to a lot of questions most especially why the show, normally based in a world that looks a lot like ours, was doing a Star Trek homage. The answer not only proved to be one of the shows most intriguing twists to date, as we discover that the world of Space Fleet has been recreated by bullied-turned-bully Robert , and hes using his virtual world to torture those he feels have wronged them. While USS Callister is in many ways a postmodern riff on Trek, it also manages to build up to an exciting climax that J.J. Abrams himself would be proud to direct.

Glen Morgan and James Wong left The X-Files in 1995 for this one-season adventure, which tracked a team of young fighter pilots who get enlisted in the war to save humanity from alien invaders. There were plenty of interesting sci-fi touches to the action, including the introduction of clone soldiers that brought up some deep questions about the nature of humanity. But more importantly, there were kick-ass space battles . More a war show than an exploration show, Space: Above and Beyond still showcased the thrill that comes with breaking out of our atmosphere.

The Man Who Fell To Earth Review

A Mysterious Face in the Canadian Badlands | What On Earth? (Full Episode)

Streaming on: Paramount+

Episodes viewed: 3 of 10

Though one of the unlikelier choices for the requel treatment, a 21st-century update of Nicolas Roegs cult classic The Man Who Fell To Earth actually makes a lot of sense. The story of an alien crash-landing on Earth, on a mission to save their dying planet, is an allegory for immigration and the human experience thats only grown more timely over the years. And its this contemporary resonance that showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet unpack in this stylish, intriguing, occasionally unfocused ten-parter.

Chiwetel Ejiofor is on fine form here as Faraday, the titular extra-terrestrial who arrives on Earth naked, alone, and hoping to save his species. A soulful Naomie Harris forms the shows emotional core opposite him as brilliant scientist Justin Falls, whose work on cold fusion could yet save Faradays species. The fascinating dynamic between the pair one childlike and wide-eyed to Earthly wonders and the other jaded by her daily struggles to feed her daughter and care for her ailing father anchors the series through its turbulent opening.

The commitment to sensorily evoking Faradays discombobulation through extreme close-ups and immersive sound design holds together the shows otherwise disparate elements.

Proving that Star Trek wasnt just the domain of Kirk and Spock, the 1987-1994 series featured some pretty epic moments. While not as dark or complex narratively as subsequent Trek installments, Next Generation did manage to wow us both narratively and visually whether facing off against the Borg, the Klingons, the Romulans, or beyond. Life wasnt all that tough on board the Enterprise but it didnt skimp on the action when the time came for it.

    Is It Any Good

Never before have the world’s many wonders been quite as accessible as they are in this stunning nature series. In the filming process, many shots and events were captured on camera for the first time viewers will marvel at a glimpse of the rare snow leopard hunting in the Himalayas, the blue bird of paradise strutting his stuff to woo a mate, and grizzly bears bringing their newborns out into the light.

Planet Earth also uses flawless time-lapse photography to show climate and seasonal changes — like a sandstorm in the Sahara Desert or the transformation of parched desert land in Africa into a lush feeding ground for species of all shapes and sizes. Satellite photos of Earth and high-speed cameras that preserve animals’ motion round out this truly unprecedented package. Narrated by actress/conservationist Sigourney Weaver, Planet Earth will educate and inspire the whole family. Just take care to explain the basics of animal behavior to young viewers, because some scenes of creatures hunting and killing prey could upset them.
